To the GREAT Citizens of Darke County The Darke County Sheriff’s Patrol cordially invites you to attend our 55th annual Home and Sports Show April 7, 8 and 9th at The Great Darke County Fairgrounds. WOW, what a GREAT show we have in store for you. We have moved from the Coliseum to the NEW Dairy and Beef Pavilion on the Fairgrounds. All one floor, well lighted, well heated and packed full of over 100 plus merchants displaying their goods and services for your review. Very excited to be in this New Facility, very excited that this many merchants have chose to be a part of our show, and excited that when you attend you will find something of interest to you. As many of you are aware, The Sheriff’s Patrol is a nonprofit organization, that receives no funding from county taxes, we are a self supporting unit. We are an arm of The Darke County Sheriff’s Department under the direction of Sheriff Toby Spencer. We provide thousands of hours of security for our many county schools, several villages in our county, Eldora Speedway, The Great Darke County Fair, special events, festivals, along with assisting our Sheriff in providing law enforcement for this GREAT County that we live in. The Home and Sport Show is our Biggest fundraiser along with our annual Chicken Bar B Que that assist to cover the annual expense of our building, patrol cars, equipment and training. A SPECIAL SPECIAL THANKS goes to the following individuals, because without them, I don’t know if there would have been a 55th Home and Sport Show, we would not have been in the New Dairy and Beef Pavilion we would not have the building sold out, no space available for any more vendors, no advertising. These people “Made it Happen” and speaking for the entire Sheriff’s Patrol we are TRULY GRATEFUL for all that you have done. The Home and Sport Show Committee consists of the following individuals: Jerry Bunch, Aaron Kruckeberg, Joe Wintrow, Dick Rhoades, Diane Delaplane, Don Delaplane, Duane Edwards. K9 Erica and K9 Britta will be at the Darke County Sheriff’s Patrol Home & Sport Show demonstrating their abilities on April 8 at 11 a.m. From sniffing out drugs to stopping bad guys, these dogs are incredible to watch and it is always a treat to see how they work hand-in-hand with their human counterparts. Greenville HS Wavaires concert supports Patrol GREENVILLE – Greenville High School’s Vocal Music Program will present the Wavaires at the 2017 Darke County Sheriff’s Patrol Home & Sport Show on April 8 at 7 p.m. The Wavaires have become Greenville’s premier vocal music group and recently began their cantata season and are sharing their music in local churches. The show choir consists of 17 talented students, freshmen to
seniors under the direction of Chelsea Whirledge. This year’s group includes McKenna Crews, Hayley Burns, Kassidy York, Brianna Hartle and Samantha Buchy. New home, but same location for show GREENVILLE – The 2017 Darke County Sheriff’s Patrol Home & Sport Show is moving this year, but you will still find it in the same place. For the past 50+ years, the Patrol has held its show in the Coliseum and Youth Building at the Darke County Fairgrounds. This year, the group is moving approximately 70 yards to the new Beef & Dairy Pavilion. Organizers of the show are excited about the move and believe having all of the displays James C. Poeppelman
under one roof is beneficial for visitors. The new facility is a better fit for guests with disabilities as the barn is completely handicap accessible. The barn opened in August 2015 and offers 48,800 square feet of space to host the show’s displays and vendors – making this year’s show one of the biggest in the Patrol’s history. In addition to hosting a wide variety of vendors that feature items for the home or
recreation, the show will also have plenty of entertainment. Visitors can enjoy a live fishing pond and the Light Foundation will be bringing its Mini Kid Gauntlet all weekend. There will also be a 4-H Dog Breed Parade and Show, Sheriff K-9 Demonstration, and performances by the Wavaires and DeColores Montessori Kids. The Ohio State Championship Kiddie Tractor Pull is also returning to the event. See a complete schedule on page 3.
