God is the Helper of Men Uzziah was crowned king at 16 years. He "sought God” in the days of Zechariah, who had understanding of the visions of God. Uzziah went to war, built towers in Jerusalem and in the desert, he dug wells, he farmed, invented weapons, his name spread abroad. King Uzziah reigned for 52 years; a time of stability for both Israel and Judah. As long as he sought the Lord, God made him to prosper and ‘he was marvelously helped till he became strong.’ Uzziah literally means “Jehovah is strength” and his life illustrates the meaning of his name. Real strength is found in the fullness of God. Everything is on the platform of His help. There is nothing that qualifies me to boast. It is only by the bringing in of the "wisdom of God," that which is "foolishness with man," and the "strength of God," that which is "'weakness with man" that this comes into effect. Only then can we ever be able to say with Paul, "When I am weak, then am I strong." How useless and helpless we are without God! “Apart from me you can do nothing” (John 15:5). No one can stand firmly except those who keep faith in God. Uzziah’s desire to seek God was central to his success. “As long as he sought the Lord, God made him to prosper and ‘he was marvelously helped till he became strong.” True success is found in following God’s commands because genuine success comes from Him, not money, title or possessions. Lasting success comes to those who refuse to compromise
God’s clear commands. Success can be lost by the subtle sin of pride, self-sufficiency, and self-willed religion. Godly success can be sacrificed for self and eternity be spent in a miserable destiny. When we focus on our own honor and accomplishments, instead of the honor of the Lord, we fail. We must remain vessels for God to showcase Himself. I shudder to think that I can go to bed thinking it was my effort. “…he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life (Gal 6:8). Jotham became king at 24yrs. He too did great exploits for God and he ‘became mighty, because he prepared his ways before the LORD his God’ (2 Chron. 27:6). This is how we should grow in strength. Jotham set the Lord always before him, and made all round progress. In the eyes of man, he might not be as mighty as Uzziah, but the Holy Ghost records his name as that of one "mighty" in the eyes of God. I pray that we will all seek God and be marvelously helped until we become strong.
By His Grace, Anthony Wahome
A testimony from the 2012 class
My Daddy Dressed Me Up God is so sweet guys!!! Praise the Lord!!! He just proved to me that what we learnt in the class is TRUTH and He proved it to me in the SWEETEST voice, and in a SIMPLE language that He knew I would understand perfectly. Guys, this God KNOWS US!!! This is what happened, during our last class, I sensed that the spirit was asking me to buy food for a specific family. So I wrote a cheque and sent a text saying: 'this is for food'. That was on Monday the 27th of March. Come Tuesday the 28th of March, I go to work and I receive a message from an old friend of mine who frequents the US saying, she just felt compelled to give me her wardrobe of designer clothes that she knows I would love. Now you need to see how this girl dresses to understand...plus most of the clothes are brand new, untouched with the tags on them!!!! All I did was obey. I wasn't expecting anything in return so soon. How deep is the love that this God has for us? This was an area that I really used to 'sweat' investing
so much time and energy only to be left broke and miserable from all my purchases. God has dressed me up in designer clothes – clothes people! A whole wardrobe! It may seem small but to me it is so big. It's not even about the clothes...It is actually the love act of Him reminding me and showing me that I should not worry about the basic needs...'no sweating the small stuff'. As I focus first on His Kingdom, He will dress me like He does the lilies of the field. Now the funny thing is I am so inspired to bless someone else with my wardrobe too :-) I want to give more...this is not normal. Praise the Lord. He is just so AMAZING. - FAITH MUTUA (KBN 2012 STUDENT)
REMEMBER THIS... Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment? Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they? Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature? And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?
(Matthew 6:25-30 KJV)
Enterprise >>>
Interview: An enterprising youth Daniel Kimani, 21, is an enterprising member of the KBN youth program. An orphan from Dandora, he is a self-employed businessman, with one employee and a net income of Kshs.22,500 per month, 10 months from the date he begun. Below is an interview with him...
How did you come to know about KBN? Heard about KBN from Anne and met with Eugene the following week.
800. With this money, I bought a pan, a rolling pin, a serving spoon and 1 packet of flour.
What has been the role of KBN in your life after the meeting? In 2009, KBN agreed to come on board as a sponsor for my high school education. At the time, I was studying at Dandora Secondary School. The same year, I sat for my Form 4 exams.
How did the business kick off? On the first day, a Monday, I made mandazis and made a loss of Kshs 50. I was a bit discouraged after this. However, I talked with God and refused to quit. I also started selling ‘njugus’ (groundnuts) too. That week on Saturday, I made mandazi from 2 packets of flour and made Kshs 50 in profit. I was very happy. For the groundnuts, I would buy 1kilogram at Kshs 100 then walk to town from Dandora to sell them at Uhuru Park during lunchtime. Within an hour I had sold out and made a Kshs 240 profit. God continued to lift me. Demand grew for ndaos – and I decided to begin making them even on Sunday morning. I made 3 packets of mandazis (6kg), and started to sell at 5:30am. In 2 hours, the ndaos were sold out, I had made Kshs 400 as profit, and I made it to church on
What did you do after school? After completing high school, I started attending the KBN youth program (KBYN). During this time, I got a 6-month job contract in a boiler house. How did you get into business? As I continued attending KBYN, I thought of business alot and I talked with Susan Gatoto about making ‘ndaos’ (mandazi) and selling them. She encouraged me to do so. At that time, all I had was Kshs 300. Susan gave me Kshs 500 and I started business with Kshs
time. During this whole time, God sent people to encourage me and there was no competition. During this time, I still attended the KBYN meetings and provided them with ndaos for tea. Today, my daily profit is Kshs 850 from both ndaos and njugus. Currently I have one employee and we sell fried beans and brewed coffee too. What else have you done? As a result of the profit, I have opened up a video hall where I show soccer matches and good movies. I now need a bigger space and I’m working at getting a DSTv connection for showing soccer games, and eventually look forward to opening a cyber cafe. What keeps you going? Jeremiah 32:27 keeps me going: 27 “I am the LORD, the God of all mankind. Is anything too hard for me? Last year, you got a job offer from KBN, why did you turn it down? I was making what would have been my salary and still have time to myself. I felt that taking up the job would be a loss on my part. We thank God he has stayed focused and continues to grow….
An Opportunity To Restore Human Dignity On Saturday, 23rd of June 2012, we had an opportunity as KBN to provide a roof over the head of Kimani, a young man who was left homeless after the PEV in 2007. Here is the day’s experience from a 15 year old who came….. “Over the past weekend, Saturday 23rd June, I went to Maai Mahiu to help break ground for a house that was being built for a young man who fell victim of the post-election
Psalms 41:1-3 (NKJV)
violence that erupted after elections in the year 2007. I went because my mom Njeri Kinyanjui was part of the Kingdom Business Network
Blessed is he who considers the poor; The LORD will deliver him in time of trouble. The LORD will preserve him and keep him alive, And he will be blessed on the earth; You will not deliver him to the will of his enemies. The LORD will strengthen him on his bed of illness; You will sustain him on his sickbed.
group and they had raised funds for building that house….so I went to help. I also contributed from my savings. The weather wasn’t as hot as I had expected due to the rains that had plagued Nairobi and the rest of Kenya. It was however pleasant enough to do some heavy lifting and digging. The organization that is in charge of this initiative being that they raise money to build two bedroomed houses for the IDP’s living in that area is called Habitat for Humanity Kenya. We reached there and were introduced to Kimani, the young man we would be helping and where the house was going to be built. We were then given equipment and we got down and dirty. The atmosphere as we worked was friendly with jokes stories flying around in either Kikuyu or English. On this particular weekend it was my birthday; on that day, I turned 15. I hadn’t expected to be doing anything on that day except maybe just go for swimming training. I did however enjoy this experience because I’ve driven past the camp quite a few times and thought in pity what lives those people live and how sad it is that they still don’t have proper housing, where a family of ask the experts >>>a really small space. ten doesn’t have to share Well, we got the chance to change that for someone. It felt good to be doing something different and that at the end of the day someone would be benefiting from something most of us take for granted. I enjoyed that day and hope to finish the house, and visit the camp again.” ASHLEY KINYANJUI
“I remember the smile on Dorcas’ face as we drove in; such gratitude for things we often take for granted. I pray that I’d be more grateful more often. It was an honor to be able to share a little love with my fellow Kenyans.” - Tibaga Gacheru (KBN Administrator)
“The project gave us food for thought. We got to see how blessed we are and yet many times take it for granted. We also saw that many times we think that the little we have isn't enough for us and to bless someone else. Yet that little, put together from all of us can change a generation.” - Grace Merie (KBN 2012 student)
KBN 7th Birthday On the 28th of May, there was a gathering of the current class and alumni in obedience to 2 directives by the Lord; to pray and commit the KBN mandate to God, and also a celebration of what God has and is doing! Here are some pics from the event‌.
2012 Class Retreat The retreat for this year took place at Brackenhurst Retreat Centre, and what a blast it was! From an afternoon of fun and games, to a bonfire with Mr. Wahome, to waking up for a 6am jog‌.the retreat was unforgettable!!!
The retreat will be a memory to treasure..; the activities in and out the field, were such a joy that reminded me of my younger days... We are blessed. Peter Karanja Wairimu 'Eagles fly alone and chicken gather' was the most captivating phrase that spoke volumes. The aspect of giving and embracing it as a lifestyle was simply profound. All wrapped with seeking the kingdom of God first. Essentially the retreat was life transforming. Thank you Mr. Wahome for disseminating this rare kind of knowledge and may God's blessing be your constant portion. Sebastian Muasa
300 words are not even enough, yaani 30 is a such a compressed version but here goes. The retreat was filled with enthusiasm due to the much anticipation, and was it awesome or what! The Brackenhurst environment, the spirit filled real life learnings, the team games, the men's football, the bonfire talk, the morning jog.....God bless Anthony and KBN 2012 class abundantly!
