Tis The season

Welcome

Christmas time is definitely one of my favorite times of the year. To many it is because we get to receive gifts, but for me, it’s because I get to give gifts. Throughout the year, I make it a part of my lifestyle to give, but at Christmas time, your giving makes the season what it is. When many around the world think about Christmas they think about Santa Claus. This Christmas I would like to change who we with about during this season. I would like us to take the time to think about who we really woe this season to, Jesus, the Christ, son of god who lay his life down that you and I may have life and have it more abundantly.

Indeed tis the season o remember the one who loved us so much that he lay down his life just for me and for you. I thank God that when Christmas comes around we can enjoy a goat or two and that after Jesus no one else has to die every Christmas. This is the season when you need to think about what God gave you, and think about not what you can get, but what you can give to remind someone of the love God has foe each one of us. As you celebrate this season with your friends, family, loved ones or whoever, think about what you can give them this Christmas to feel the love. After all that is what Christmas is really about. Celebrating that God loved the world so dearly he gave us his only son to die on the cross that we may have eternal life. During this season, also ask yourself, did Jesus die in vain? Are you living out the life he died so that you could have? Merry Christmas everyone Thitu

Ten Virgins My Bible tells me a story Jesus told about ten virgins who were to stay up waiting for a bridegroom to return from a wedding feast. I know that is sounds impossible to think of ten virgins of marital age gathered today but the Bible does not lie. There was a group of ten adult women who had never had sex or been touched in an unclean manner. Believe it or not. These ten were to keep their lamps burring as it was dark, I assume. Some of them were unprepared and their oil ran out before the groom had returned. They tried to borrow from the other virgins but they refused and they had to go off and try to buy some more oil. While they were away the groom arrived and only the ones that were prepared went in with him. When the rest returned they tried to knock on the door and were told to go away as they were too late. Many ask me why I called this magazine Harusi, and I say that this is in preparation of us, as the bride, for the groom. It is about both men and women being ready for a marriage to the opposite sex and about their relationship with God. We must also be prepared as the bride of Christ for his return, if He should return and find that we went to buy oil, we will miss out and it will be too late. In the very same way, if we do not get ready, when the one for you comes, you may miss him or her

because you were out doing all the wrong things. If you marry without the proper preparation, your marriage will miss out on the happiness that it was intended to have. It is no lie that many marriages, even in the church, end up in divorce today and a lot of that can be avoided if we prepare ourselves and become the brides and grooms we ought to be before the wedding day. A man does not become a husband and a woman does not become a wife the day they say I do. They must already be that the day the question “Will you marry me? is asked. We look at things in marriage that could cause friction, such as boundaries we may set on a spouse, you can read about that in our Talking Spouses segment and give us your feedback too as we want to get spouses talking. We can all compare or relate to the ten virgins Jesus talks about In Mat 25. The only question is, which virgin are you or will you be? Shalom Miss Boss

How to Serve your Wine after a Hearty Christmas Meal When you serve a great Christmas meal, one thing that will definitely make it better is serving a good wine. Because you do not know what your guests will prefer, it is best to provide both white and red wine. That way, your guests will take their pick and even mix it up later into the night. However, it is paramount that you know how to present the best wine so that your guests enjoy it. The most important fact to consider is the temperature at which your wine should be served. The temperature will have an effect on how your wine tastes. White wine should always be served chilled while red wine is served at room temperature. You can buy a portable wine cellar that has the settings for wines in case your house is too warm and the room temperature is compromised. It is also important to know what type of glass you should serve each particular wine. Wine glasses should be transparent and plain to ensure that you can see the wine color. You should always serve wine in wine glasses that have a stem so that your guests use the stem to hold the glass without warming the wine. Glasses for red wine have a large bowl and are generally wider to ease swirling. Swirling makes the wine taste better as it is exposed to oxygen. White wine should be served in tulip-shaped glasses, which are slightly smaller than red wine glasses. This ensure that the wine does not warm too quickly. If you’re serving sparkling wine, use small, tall and thin glasses. The elongated glass allows the bubbles to develop properly and keeps the wine chilled. Once you have picked out the glasses, you need to know how to pour out your wine. Your guests will leave your home very disappointed if they had to rush to the bathroom to clean a wine spill that you caused when you were serving them. It should be done slowly toward the very centre of the glass and only pour up to the widest part of the glass, which is more often just below half. This allows for easy swirling especially for red wines. Once you’re done pouring, tilt the tip of the wine bottle and rotate your hand to avoid dripping.

Lifestyle

Once you have served your wine and all your guests have had enough, it is important to learn how to store the leftover wine without its taste being affected. For most wines, the fridge is a great storage for about 5 days. This will not affect the taste of your opened bottle of wine and you can still serve it to other guests as opposed to throwing it out and buying a new bottle. If it is red wine, ensure that you remove it from the fridge a few hours before you serve so that it can achieve its optimum serving temperature. With these great tips on serving and storing your wine, your guests will leave your home happy and impressed and you will be proud of yourself for having served a great meal and offered a great wine in style.

Relationships Marriage- The Green-Eyed Bandit There are times when we watch movies, read book and even catch a Soap opera where you find a couple having marital issues because of envy. In real life, this is also evident, and I can tell you that the devil has a field day knowing he can break up a marriage and a home over jealousy. Before a couple gets married, it is very important that they outline what each one is expected to do in the marriage or know what role they are to play. It is also important that as you go into a marriage that you know who you are in God and what your worth is. You must be whole and cannot look to the other to complete you. Some women get married to give their lives meaning and value. They are Mrs so and so now, their husband is a very recognized and respected member of society and this applies to men too. A man may have a very successful wife and everyone wants some of her, but because as a man he has low self-esteem and does not know who he is in God he gets envious of his wife. He puts her down, abuses her and mistreats her just to feel in control. A wife may put down her husband and cut him down, because she is only a housewife and feels she is of little or no value. What we all need to know is that each one of us was created to fulfill an important role in Gods Kingdom as individuals. This God-given purpose is to be fulfilled regardless of whether we are single or married. In a marriage, there are also God given roles and no partner is more important that the other in the eyes of God. In fact, God says that the two become one. This means whatever one achieves the other takes credit for as well. In a race, the runner could cross the finish line with his left leg but both legs play a role in winning the race. In a marriage, the husband may be the head but the woman is the shoulders that it rests upon. There is no one without the other.

Relationships It is easy to make one feel inadequate in a marriage. One partner could get a new job and be very successful and is wrapped up in all that leaving out their partner and this gives the devil the gap to form a great rift between the two of them. On the other hand, when one gets a new job with loads of success along with it, remember that you are one. Be supportive and continue to carry out your role in the marriage be it cooking, cleaning, laundry, picking and dropping off the kids and keep encouraging your partner. Know what God says about you and say it to yourself too. Most of all, both partners must remember that God says the two shall become one. There is not you without him, there is no him without you. Where one goes they both go, where one achieves they both achieve ad where one fails they both fail. The next time you look at your partner and the devil tries to convince you that he or she thinks and treats you as if they are better than you are, shut him up and tear him down. Let him know that the two of you are one, none can be better than the other can or more important than the other can and when one messes up, you both mess up. You are inseparable. The two of you are one.

Relationships Dating- drop it! Setting down the wanted to get married. I loathed Garbage Baggage men, they were never good to me and I could not understand why any I am a member of some social inter- woman in her right senses could net groups and there are times when sign a contract to live with any man people say unbelievable things. Just for the rest of her life. To me marthis morning, I logged into my cir- riage was just serving a life sentence cle of mums account, to find a dis- and I could not believe women cussion where one single mum was could willingly set themselves up asking about telling her son about for that. The reason I felt this way is his father. As I was replying to it, I what I had been through. I was still also got a new discussion started. I carrying with me the memory, the asked my single mum friends if they hurt, the bitterness and the unforwould ever get married. I did this giveness for all the men that ever because I find many single mothers did me wrong. Moreover, I was uslike myself refuse to ever get mar- ing that as a basis on which all men ried because of what they have been and relationships with men could be through with their baby daddy. judged. I am a single mum and I too never

Relationships The thing is, every given day there is someone, man or woman just looking for somewhere to drop their garbage off. Many times people such as me and other single women find themselves the victims of a garbage dump. This also occurs because we think of ourselves no more than a garbage dump and allow people to dump their crap on us. We then carry that crap just waiting for someone to dump it on too. Unfortunately, when it comes to relationships, your next boyfriend or husband is the next victim. Your next relationship is also a victim. Marriage and relationships are meant to be enjoyed not endured, you cannot bring the crap from your past into a new relationship and expect new things. You will experience the same old crap coming around and you wonder why that is. You brought it with you. When you left the last bad relationship you were in, you packed up all your stuff and even the crap from that and brought it to the new. When I realized what I was doing, I also realized that I was letting the one who hurt me win. I took their crap with me to the next relationship. They said no one would ever love me and I carried that around with me, so that everywhere I went, there it was. One day, I realized that I was carrying a bag of garbage around with me that some guy I don’t even recall gave me. I decided enough was enough and laid down the garbage. How? I forgave the one who hurt me, and in doing so I got over it, I began to heal and move on. I lost the weight of it all and was left with room for the new things love and life had to offer. Believe it or not, not all men are dogs, not all women are witches with a B and not all marriages end in divorce. Single mums stop using your good for nothing, low down dirty, baby daddy as tool to never do this or that while he goes on with his life and even gets married, has another family while he never even sends the child you had together a card on their birthday. Please lay down your bag of garbage and embrace all that life has for you in love, relationships and more. It’s not that men out there do not want you, they just don’t want your garbage. Set it down already! Never say never, go on and get married someday, just don’t marry…him!

Relationships Sex- Bend over- Girls who are all too Cooperative Not long ago, I was at a convention at my church and we found that immorality had made its way into the church. Men and women in church were living one way in the day and sleeping around in the night. The sad part is that they are not messing around with men and women outside the church but within the church. We learned that one particular man said it was easy for him because none of the girls he asked to sleep with said no. Many times, we want to look at the man and call him a dog, call him a player and all manner of other names, yet we are making it all too easy for him to act like a dog and go around pissing on us and too easy for him to score. It is not uncommon to see men and women get on the dance floor and dance to a song they both like but lately, it has gone way too far. For a while, I had heard about a certain song that plays in the club and has every one dancing with complete strangers. I was told that the minute the song starts, a guy will just get with the closest girl and vice versa. While this may not sound too bad, the actions suggested are really disturbing. Some of the words to the song are words like, bend over, where the girl will get in front of the guy and do just that. Other words are... force it in there the guy standing behind the bent over girl will thrust his pelvis forward as though into her. The words and actions are highly suggestive and sexual. The issue though is not the song that we can simply turn off or stop playing, the issue is that everyone sings along and cooperates with the actions that go with it. I have discussed this song with guys and they tell of how cooperative the girls are when the song plays. More over I have witnessed it myself. As a woman, I was embarrassed for myself and the girl who was all too cooperative as the stranger who came from nowhere forced it in. If this girl is so willing to bend over on the dance floor to such a song, with a stranger, what in the world is she willing to do in private, with her boyfriend? Again, if there was a guy watching her dance and bend over, would his thought towards her be marriage or sex? It’s not that men always have sex

Relationships My pastor said in church that if women would just say no, if women would just stop cooperating, then the men would have no choice but to chill. Men come from between a woman’s legs and seem to always be looking for a way back in. Stop opening the way for them the minute they ask. If that is the case, let it be with you that there is not way and they have to go through God to make a way, which he has‌ marriage. No ringy, no dingy, no bend over, no force it in, no way, no how, not cooperation, just plain NO!

Relationships Married with limits- are you connected but not together? I sat in a convention at my church not too long ago and heard a mighty woman of God speak. She talked about a hotel she went to that was connected to another. Looking at them, she could only assume they were owned by the same group or person. She meant to order her dinner quite late, a service that the hotel did not offer. However, they recommended the hotel they were connected to. She asked them whether, if she had her dinner there would they charge it to her room in her hotel, upon which they declined and stated they were merely connected, but not together.

Many couples today are like that and it is scary. I have been made to understand that in a marriage what is yours is the others and vice versa. I understood that when you marry, you give up all you claim to have as yours and it becomes ours. I understood that getting married kisses goodbye to privacy as now you share everything. I know that for me personal this will be a big thing, though there are times I would like to be held at night at this moment in time, I could not imagine never having the bed to myself again. It is small things that I have to consider that make it a big deal for me. However, when the time comes and I am ready I will give all that up.

Relationships

The other day I was talking to my best friend and she mentioned how her handbag is private property, a no go zone even for her husband. She also mentioned that she would never go into her husband’s wallet even for change. I was very surprised as she was very serious about the handbag thing and not messing around with him trying to go there. I wondered if it was me not allowed to enter her bag as a husband would that raise suspicions. If a husbands wallet is off limits to his wife is that reason for suspicion? She says it is not a trust issue but that some things are just private. Personally, I would feel hurt if my husband told me his wallet or anything was off limits to me as his wife. I would feel like he has some-

thing to hide or does not trust me. If we begin to place limits in marriage no matter how small, would this not cause a drift? Big or small would limit in marriage cause the spouses to be connected but not together? When we say what’s mine is yours, when we are one should that not apply to all I have and all of me? If even one thing is off, does that not make it almost 100% and as we know almost does not count. My question in this month’s talking spouses is this, should we have limits in marriage? Do any limits in marriage between husband and wife make them connected but not together or are something’s off limits and what are these things?

Lifestyle Hindrances to Wealth Creation and Possible Remedies

employees, and on any other persons you will be interacting with.

The journey towards wealth creation is long. It is easy to get rich since you can even become rich by winning money, but creating wealth is much more difficult. The difference between those who are wealthy and those who are not is that the wealthy understand these hurdles and use them as challenges rather than something to set them back. One of the greatest hurdles you will come across as you create wealth is people putting you down. People putting others who they perceive as being a threat is part of human nature and these people could even be your friends or your family members. To remedy this, you should learn to absorb the actions and the words of others – do not let them interfere with whatever you are doing.

Lack of enough resources is a challenge that many wealthy people today have had to deal with. This is because getting loans on a start-up business is not the best option. To remedy this problem, you should be willing to start low and you should have perseverance. You should reinvest whatever profit you make. To get capital, you should use your savings and if these are not enough, consider borrowing from friends and/or family.

Another hindrance to wealth creation is communication barrier. To be rich, you can do business in your hometown. However, you need to venture out of your comfort zone if you want to be wealthy. As you venture out, you will encounter people of different cultures, people speaking different languages, and people who have different trading and consumption behaviors. You can remedy this barrier by doing thorough research on your target market, on potential business partners, on your

Many wealthy people today have been faced with employee problem at one time or the other. This is because employees can sabotage your operations and they can steal trade secrets for reasons such as dissatisfaction, greed, or envy. To be wealthy, you need to build a loyal workforce. To ensure that your employees are loyal, you should compensate them well, you should involve them in major decisions, and you should treat them like colleague and not servants.

Lifestyle Debt is a major hindrance to wealth creation. This is because debt affects your mindset and makes you think about clearing the debt instead of concentrating on wealth creation. If you are constantly thinking about your debt, you will miss many opportunities. There is a lot of stigma associated with debt and this may affect your confidence. Debt will affect your status in the society and this means that you will not attract business partners. You may even push away clients and/or customers because they will have doubts about your ability to deliver. If you have debt, your credit rating will be low and this means it will be very difficult to get loans for expansion.

Debts will also tie down your resources and your assets such as buildings, limiting your ability to expand. Other hindrances to wealth creation include having a get-rich-quick mentality, giving your venture a local name, operating without a strategy, settling, and mixing friendship or family matters with business matters. In most cases, having the right attitude and the right information is the secret to success.

Lifestyle Fly to Africa for your Honeymoon If you are looking for a honeymoon destination, you should consider Africa. Travelling and honeymooning in Africa is cheaper compared to other parts of the world. One of the top destinations in Africa is Tanzania. Here, you could visit the Serengeti National Park, you could visit the white sandy beaches in the country’s coast and in the island of Zanzibar, and you could visit Mount Kilimanjaro. Another top destination is Egypt. Here, you could visit the Pyramids, you could go on o desert trek, and you could honeymoon along the Nile. You could also visit Kenya. Kenya is a top safari destination, but there are other attractions such as the country’s sandy beaches in the coast, several fresh water lakes in the Great Rift Valley, and scenic views in the country’s highlands. South Africa is another top destination and it has some of the best infrastructure in Africa. The country has a long coastline and several game parks.

Lifestyle

How to Get Cheap Flights When flying in for a safari on a budget, you should know where to look for cheap flights. However, you should not compromise your comfort for cheap fares, especially if you are travelling over long distances. Once you get a cheap flight, you should research on the services on offer because you will not enjoy your safari if you have a bad flight. To get a cheap flight, compare as many airlines as possible. You should be flexible when scheduling because some days of the week are cheaper than others. The cheapest days are Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays with most flights. You should enlist the services of a travel agent. These agents know the cheapest airlines and they can advice you on such matters as the best time to fly. If you are a frequent traveller, ask for discounted rates. You can get cheap flights by travelling during off-peak seasons. You could also buy cheap tickets from ‘Ticket Consolidators’.

Lifestyle Holiday Trip Preparation When preparing for a holiday trip or a vacation trip, you should prepare adequately. You should get immunized to protect your health. Research on what immunizations are necessary for your destination. You should note that some countries have visa requirements. You should make sure that your passport is valid for at least six months beyond your return date. You should ensure that you have travel insurance to cover your health, possible cancellation or curtailment of the vacation, and your luggage. You should research on the climate of your destination. This will help you carry the right clothes and make decisions on such things as your activities. You should start packing weeks before the day of the trip. This reduces the risk of leaving anything behind. Just before the day of the trip, change some money to the local currency to prevent problems in the airport or the hotel. You should also invest in a universal adapter if you are vacationing in a country where the voltage rating is different from that of your country.

Lifestyle Easy Kitchen Décor Ideas The kitchen is one of the most important parts of the house because if you are in a bad mood while cooking, the food will probably be bad. You do not have to break the bank for good kitchen décor. You could decorate your kitchen by painting the walls. You can use borders for accents to break the monotony. A popular kitchen décor idea today is the use of kitchen islands. A kitchen island loosens up traffic in the kitchen, but you need a large space for this. Most kitchens do not have curtains, but a curtain will update your kitchen tremendously. You should also consider lively prints. When choosing kitchen decorations, you should also make safety considerations. You should avoid flammable materials as much as possible. To increase space, you should consider the use of kitchen organizers. These are also kitchen decorations and you should therefore choose styles and colors that reflect the personality of the kitchen. You could get kitchen décor ideas from home décor and home improvement magazines, from watching TV shows, or from the internet. The décor of your home should not drift too far from the décor of the rest of the house since this would bring imbalance. You should also maintain the same décor theme for the whole kitchen.

Lifestyle

Turning your House into a Home Turning a house into a home requires a lot of effort. You could start with having the right decoration because this will want you to spend more time in the house. There are several things that will give you the perfect home dĂŠcor and this involves using different colors, themes, furniture, and decorative elements. When decorating your home, make sure you have a common theme throughout, including the garden, the bathroom, and the kitchen. When deciding on the home dĂŠcor to use, you should consider the views of other family members. For a cozy home, make sure there is adequate lighting. To give the house a feeling of closeness and compactness, use drapes and soft and heavy textures on furniture. Accessorizing improves the look of the house by giving it a sleek and classy feel. When decorating your house, make safety, balance, and personal preference your major considerations. You should consider enlisting the services of an interior designer to do your home dĂŠcor. Interior designers have experience and theoretical knowhow on their side. A professional knows the best materials, the place to buy these materials and the different decorative elements, and they know what the latest trends are. However, you should always have the final word.

Lifestyle

Lifestyle Garden Décor Tips When choosing garden décor, you should go for something that goes with your interior design. As an example, if your interior design is modern minimalist, you should consider a quiet monochromatic piece and if it is Victorian, you should consider panels or wooden statues. You should make sure that garden décor withstands the varying elements of nature. If you have metal décor, you should make sure the metal is rust proof. If you have wooden décor, you should make sure it is varnish-coated or handrubbed several times a year. When choosing garden décor, you should make sure that it reflects the personality of your family. Most people choose décor that only they can relate to. If you have kids, make sure that garden décor is safe since they will be playing in the garden. If something has to be painted, make sure that the paint used cannot chip easily. You should use garden décor that you can easily maintain. This way, you do not have to spend a lot of time in the garden – this will prevent boredom. You should avoid garden décor made of plastic because it not only looks tacky, but it is harmful to the environment and you have to take it indoors during certain parts of the year. You should consider enlisting the services of a landscaping professional even if you are doing the garden décor yourself because you will get valuable advice.

Lifestyle Decoration Tips for Small Bathrooms Bathrooms are difficult to decorate because of limited space, but there is a way around this. To give the bathroom an illusion of space, you should use large, light-colored tiles on the floor. The best colors for this are gray and white. You should also choose light colors for the walls because darker colors give the illusion of the walls ‘closing in’ on you. You should use small, wall-mounted sinks without vanities. This way, more of your floor will be visible and this will make the bathroom appear larger. Carefully chosen plants and pictures can give the illusion of space. When buying cabinets, you should choose those that can be set into your wall. You should choose cabinets that have flush doors or simply have open shelves. The cabinet doors should be painted to match the color of your wall. Mirrors are very important bathroom décor items. This is because they reflect space and they can make a bathroom appear to be double in size. Your mirrors should therefore be as large as possible. Other than the mirror above your sink, you should consider having mirrors in other parts of the bathroom. You should replace your ordinary bathtub with a clear-glass-door shower to free space. You should accessorize your bathroom with functional items such as over-the-door towel bars which can hold multiple towels.

Lifestyle Health and Wellness Tips If you want to be healthy, there is no shortcut to exercising. You should note that the gym and the track are not the only place that you can exercise. You could exercise by simply taking the stairs instead of the elevator or walking to work instead of driving. The greatest health benefit of exercising is that it reduces the risk of heart diseases and stroke by raising the high-density lipoprotein or HDL levels (good cholesterol), by lowering LDL or low-density lipoprotein levels (bad cholesterol), by strengthening the heart muscles, by improving blood flow, by lowering blood pressure, and by increasing the capacity of the heart. If you have high blood pressure, exercising will reduce this pressure. Exercising controls and prevents noninsulin-dependent diabetes. Exercising improves metabolism and this improves the capacity of the body to burn fats, thereby reducing the risk of obesity and associated problems. Exercising also increases muscle tissue, it improves the joints’ flexibility, it improves the health of bones, it improves balance and coordination, and it helps in the development of blood vessels to the heart and the muscles. Exercising is also associated with improving your mood, increasing your strength and energy levels, allowing you to sleep better, and reducing stress. This leads to emotional wellbeing. Dieting is also important in improving health and wellbeing. Foods rich in proteins such as fish, poultry products, peanut, and lean meat improve blood production and aid in cell growth. Foods rich in carbohydrates such as potatoes, rice, bread, and cereals produce the energy that your body needs. Foods rich in calcium such as spinach, salmons, milk products, and sardines aid in the strengthening of the teeth and bones and in their formation. Other important food groups are Vitamin A, Vitamin B6, Vitamin B12, Vitamin C, Vitamin D, Folic acid, Fiber, Iron, and other minerals. You should eat high-fiber foods such as whole grains, fruits, and vegetables. These are complex carbohydrates that help in the absorption of carbohydrates, allowing the body to absorb more minerals and controlling insulin levels, and they also prevent constipation. You should eat in regulation to prevent the accumulation of unused food and to prevent starvation. You should go for variety because each food brings something different to the body.

Lifestyle

Sleeping well improves your health and wellbeing. You should consider taking power naps during the day. You should never take your work to bed as this will make sleeping harder. You should set a sleeping schedule and you should always stick to this. You should not eat or drink caffeinated drinks just before sleeping since this could throw off your body’s internal clock. Make sure that your bedroom is dark and quiet. Stress has a direct effect on your health and wellbeing. You should therefore avoid stress and depression as much as you can. You should spend more time with friends and family and less time at work. You should avoid ingesting harmful products. Alcohol and smoking have several negative effects such as increasing the risk of different cancers. Other drugs also affect our heath negatively. You should drink plenty of water to prevent your body from overheating and to boost your concentration. You should limit the intake of junk foods. If you feel hungry, go for a health snack such as a fruit.

Lifestyle-fashion 4 Fashion Do's for the Today Fashionistas! Famed Irish writer and poet Oscar Wilde once said “Fashion is a form of ugliness, so intolerable we have to alter it every six months”. Now, 2011 is beckoning! Have we fashionistas started thinking about what we want to don in the coming year? Here’s a quick guide to the kind of wardrobe you should be looking for when shopping for the coming season: 1. Leopard Prints: They are generally considered expensive and considered rather exotic; hence, a symbol of wealth and status. Throughout history, kings and other high people have used animal print rugs and such as a sign of status just as mounted animals are kept as trophies. Animal print became popular for women in the United States in the late 1960’s during the Hippie movement The secret of wearing an animal based pattern fashion trend successfully is to relate the intensity of the pattern to your personality. If you are normally an understated dresser, then select just a small leopard print item. It may be as small as a money clutch purse. Or, it could be as lavish as a faboush designer Jacket or sexy designer boots. If the full-on glamour look of Catwoman, with shades of the legendary Eartha Kitt at her feline is not for you, then leopard print shoes or bag can be the perfect answer. In fact, you'll be amazed how many items in your wardrobe can appear instantly updated with an animal print clutch, or given an instant lift with some snazzy footwear. If you prefer just to flirt with animal prints as a passing fashion fad, then pop a leopard print sweater that will automatically catapult your normal jeans or skirt into summer 2011. Bolder, fashion forward, women will opt for a leopard coat or thigh high boots, or a body hugging animal print shift dress. The latter will all draw attention to you, just be sure you want that attention! You are what you wear, remember!! There’s always a sense of danger, with this looks not reckless danger but structured danger in the disguise of luxury fashion. The infusion of street, kink and reservation makes for an appetizing allure. The look can also be paired up with monochromatic sunglasses.

Lifestyle-fashion

Lifestyle-fashion 2. Sheer Fabric: Sheer fabric is another of the hottest trends for 2011. When you say sheer, you automatically think sexy, see through, tops and dresses that make eyes pop and minds wander. You can reinvent your own sheer by layering it all out so that it looks mature yet still keeps the hotness of it all giving you a delicate feminine draping. How to wear sheer without feeling scared is very easy. It is being sequined with the old classic Maxi dress and the maxi skirts as well, this though is for the not so daring and overly over the top fashionistas. When you want to be bold, you can mix up the sheer dress with some lace on it, which is ideal for cocktails and launches. This can be quite daunting especially because there’s too much skin being exposed.

3. Colour Blocking: Colour Blocking is a sense of style that has spanned generations. The reason this universally accepted style lasts through the season is the fact that it actually makes your body look separated where the colors’ separate. For example, if you have 3 color blocks on a dress, one at the top, the middle and the bottom, your body will automatically look or seem separated into 3 segments and your waist will definitely be defined and accentuated as the color in the middle. So when you go out shopping look for Colour blocks that work with your body, for instance if you get a dress that has a colour block that starts from the shoulders all the way to the hip, that will definitely make your body look disproportional, and also make your legs look shorter. So to avoid this we should all think of the dresses in terms of proportions. Where the colours separate on the body? What pattern the blocks of colour make? And how the colours work together. In other words, you want each part of the body to start a new block, get blocks that will accentuate your body and hide the parts you want camouflaged.

Lifestyle 4.

Mix and Match: The secret to dressing well without spending a considerably high amount of money or no money at all is found in mix and matching. Looking through your wardrobe you can look for stuff that coordinate well in colour and fabric. This can actually consist of say five or even as many as twenty outfits in your closet and the best thing is it can be your own collection, designed to fit into your personal taste. This can only be limited to two colours though’. One of which can stand on its own or mixed and matched with the other. You need to choose your colours carefully so that one stands out and the other stays subtle. We have two scenarios of how you can mix and match your outfits, a good one and a complete No! No! a) Get your favourite blue jacket and mix & match it with a different top and bottom every day. This way you will look different everyday with the same outfit. Reason being your upper part of the body is most noticeable and people might think you wear the same clothes everyday. b) Get a simple basic bottom (skirt or trouser) and mix & match it with different tops everyday. You will look fabulous and different everyday. This is because no one really pays attention to what you wear at the bottom their eye line meets your top body always. Try and always mix your colours. Let them have a distinction. For instance, have the basic colours (blacks, browns, stone) with the light colours (whites, ivory and creams). One of the biggest mistakes people make is having too many bottoms instead of having tops. You should have at least 5 or 6 tops for every skirt or trouser you have and not the other way round, because people always notice the top half of your body more than the bottom half. Printed patterns will never mix well so make sure you mix a pattern with a bold solid colour. Always make sure 75% or your wardrobe is solid colours and 25% are prints. Another way of building your mix and match is to buy an item that you know will mix and match with 3 or 4 other outfits in your closet, that way if you have say 30 outfits you’ll end up wearing them in 90 ways. So let’s have fun in the coming season and remember the only rule is, don't be boring and dress cute wherever you go. Life is too short to blend in. - Paris Hilton Yours J.J Fashionista

Special Features-Bachelorette of the month Prof / bio - I grew up in Nairobi attending State House Primary School and then Pangani Girls School thereafter. It was at Pangani that I seriously gave my life to God and began to grow in the Lord. 2 weeks after salvation just before I turned 15 I was filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke in tongues for the first time. I always say that God's gift for my 15th birthday was the in filling of the Holy Spirit. After High School I got a bit riotous, clubbing and drinking. However, in the midst of that God's hand was still on me and I never really got into the clubbing culture. I went sporadically usually after a long time. In 1998 I went to the US to study in a Christian University located in Arkansas. Williams Baptist College. That was an awesome place to be and God's hand was on me. I got a full scholarship and graduated with honors, Magna Cum Laude, with a Bachelor of Science in Biology, Minor in Psychology. I was the charter president of the Mu Mu Chapter of Beta Beta Beta the Biological Honor Society. I was also a Member of Psi Chi the National Honor Society for Psychology. Seeing as I enjoy reading and studying, I was nominated by my College Faculty to the National Deans List a High Honor in the American Educational System.

Seeing as I enjoy reading and studying, I was nominated by my College Faculty to the National Deans List a High Honor in the American Educational System. I came back to Kenya in December 2003 and have never looked back. God made me for this country. He has taken me from one level of glory to another since I have been back. I am blessed! God Factor - God has been everything to me. Even when I was rebellious, he was still there making his presence felt in my life and often times using me regardless. He is the true anchor of my life and as I have grown in him I have learned that nothing is worth his frown. Even in areas where I felt that he was taking his time coming through for me, I have learned to wait on him and not take matters in my own hands. An example is the area of marriage. This area has been quiet for me. As I have watched my age mates get married and have children, and even those younger than I, the temptation has been to make a move outside of God. Surrounded by a culture of sex and impurity, waiting on God in purity has been a challenge. However, to God's glory I can say that I am a virgin at 34 years of age. I must say that God has preserved me himself. If it had been left up to me, I would have sorted that out a long time ago!!

Special Features– Bachelorette of the month

When I think about sorting myself out I remember Ishmael Abraham's son in the flesh and all the drama that caused. That causes me to enter rest and wait for my Isaac. If God says your Isaac is coming, stay put. Wait on him and leave the slave girl alone. That which is born of flesh is flesh and can never be Spirit. But that which is born of God's Spirit is spirit. Wait for it, even though it tarry it shall come to pass. My encouragement to those who are single and waiting on God is that he will come. He never fails. For those who are virgins way past the worlds "acceptable" timing rest secure in the Lord. It is God who made you for his purposes. Do not make a move out of season and out of God to either fulfill the desires of the flesh or the desires of man. When your Kairo's time comes, God will bring it to pass and at that time the act will be blessed and fulfilling for both you and your spouse because it will be according to God's plan and will. Stay blessed!

The boy with a big

Special Features– Testimonial Meet Sholinke Kariba, the small boy with a big heart. Shobe was born in early 2004 and since his birth it was more or less one thing after the other. His hospital visits did not seem at all unusual although they were quite frequent. He would be in for a cough or a cold just like any other boy his age. Over time however on thing that seemed not to go away, was a chronic cough. The doctors said it was brought on by allergies, but after close to three years with the persistent cough and tonsillitis it was clear there was more to it. After a few test, the doctors noticed he had an enlarged cardiac shadow, which implies that his heart was bigger than usual. As a result Shobe was sent to see a cardiologist to get a more expert opinion. After spending close to all day and a whole lot of money at the cardio clinic, the results showed that he had rheumatic fever. Upon asking they learnt that this condition could come about from a simple sore throat that was left too long leaving the infection to find its way to the heart. The treatment demanded a very excruciating shot of penicillin once a month for years.

Special Features– Testimonial Shobe got a second opinion that brought the same results. The cardiologist in this case was very against having a child go through the recommended treatment and asked that, the child seek yet another opinion which he did. The third cardiologist run more tests and as he examined the heart he found evidence of that the others had concluded. This time however the doctor decided to take one last test to be absolutely sure before they could subject Sholinke to what was now a shot of penicillin a month till he turned 32. The cardiologist was not in any mood to give the go ahead on that and settled on one last test. The test results would be out on the following Monday and through the weekend calls came in from the doctors at the hospital to try and prepare the family for the treatment procedures that were more mentally than physically terrorizing. The family would not hear of it and stood in faith knowing that shobe was healed and would not need any treatment. It just happened that on the Sunday before the results, there was a healing service att he church Shobe attends. His mother upon hearing the altar call run to get Shobe from Sunday school and take him to the altar where the prayers were going on. As far as they family was concerned that sealed it. The case was closed and Jehovah had healed the boy. The test results on Monday showed the same thing ad shocked the doctors who could not explain it .

Special Features– Testimonial To date Sholikne has never had anything more than a slight cold and the family believe even that, God has taken care of.

Embracing Your Freedom by Susie Larson Your culture dictates so much of what you do including your security, comfort, your success, your failures and your control over things. Embracing your Freedom tries to tell readers that there are greater rewards for those people who look past their cultures and look to God in order to take a hold of his promises. Susie Larson tells her readers than if we all reach out to God in the name of Jesus, all our wishes and prayers will be granted. She talks of faith, miracles, religious adventures and a hunger for knowing Jesus and his will. Susie said that she realized all these things and she would love it if her readers would realize them too. Susie adds that when people live in fear and insecurity or in despair, shame, guilt or sin, they only focus on themselves. However, when they embrace their freedom in Christ, their hearts are freed from bondage, we are able to see through all our problems, and we endeavor to help all those around us reach that same freedom. Any woman who wants to grow stronger in their faith and wants to gain a better understanding of God should read this book and she will attain the freedom that God intended her to have.

Leisure and Pleasure-cars 2001 – 2007 Nissan X-Trail When one wishes to have the added practicality of higher ground clearance and/or Four Wheel Drive but does not wish to drive a car the size of a small house, then the ‘soft-roader’ is the vehicle category that they look to. The Nissan X-Trail is a soft-roader and a mighty good one at that. It has higher ground clearance and a roomier interior than your standard station wagon, and is available with a fairly decent Four Wheel Drive system. Not surprisingly, the 2001 – 2007 model of the X-Trail is a proving a fairly popular choice for car buyers in Kenya.

Handling Soft-Roaders are meant to offer elevated driving position and (in some cases) Four Wheel drive practicality in a package that handles like an ordinary station wagon car. In reality, the increased centre of gravity means that they are susceptible to more pitching and rolling than conventional station wagons. That being said, the X-Trail is one of the better handling soft-roader packages out there. It offers a composed, smooth ride with fairly good handling. Grip levels are also good especially in the full-time Four Wheel Drive models.

Leisure and Pleasure-cars Off-Road The 2.0 X-Trail comes with either Two Wheel of Four Wheel Drive. All the rest have full-time Four Wheel Drive systems. The two wheel drive model is basically a city car with slightly elevated driving position. Don’t bother doing trying to do too much off-road driving in it. The Four Wheel drives are not exactly mud-plugging off road beasts either but the increased grip means that they are okay for moderate off-roading.

Interior The X-Trail has a very roomy interior. Considerably more spacious than the Rav-4 and Honda CRV, and also slightly more so than the Land Rover Freelander. Layout is neat and functional if somewhat unconventional (speedo dials in centre of dashboard) and some vehicles come with a panoramic sunroof. Base spec models come with nasty PVC seats that should be avoided where possible, Sport models have cloth upholstered interiors and top-of-the-

Leisure and Pleasure-cars

Leisure and Pleasure-cars Summary The Nissan X-Trail is a very good all-round family car. It is very car-like to drive but the raised ground clearance and Four Wheel Drive (where available) mean that it better equipped for slightly more rugged pursuits than a standard station wagon would allow without being as much of a wallet buster as larger off roaders such as the Range Rover and Toyota Prado.

News– Global US Plans Graphic Warning on Cigarette Packaging In an effort to reduce the everincreasing number of smokers, the US government is planning to enforce graphic warnings on the packaging of cigarettes. One of the graphic warnings is a dead man in a coffin with a sign that reads, Smoking Can Kill You at the bottom. The other graphic warnings include a crying baby, depicting that smoking hurts children, a close up mouth with dirty infected teeth, depicting that smoking will cause mouth infections as well as bad breath and lip lesions and a bald cancer patient, depicting that smoking causes cancer. In 2009, a law was passed requiring the cigarette manufacturers to include larger labels on their packaging to educate smokers on the negative health side effects of smoking. Most cigarette manufacturers had labels on their packaging but it was done in such small print it was barely legible. According to the new proposition, the graphic warning will take the bottom half of the front side of the pack so that it is clearly visible while on display. The government will approve nine different images before the beginning of 2011.

Church Advocates for Timely Referendum on Abyei The church special envoy to Sudan has asked politicians in Sudan to ensure that the referendum planned to take place in Abyei on January 9 kicks off as intended. He said that interfering with the polls would compromise the integrity of the Peace Agreement Act of 2005. He said that compromising one segment of the act was as good as not having the act in the first place. The act, signed in Nairobi, brought to an end a war that had lasted over two decades between the north and south regions of Sudan. The US have added that they will not be responsible for organizing the polls and called on Sudanese officials to ensure that it is done. The church believes that a referendum will give power back to the people of Sudan and this will give them a sense of belonging. One of the problems discussed was the possibility of President al Bashir using his power to decree that Abyei is part of South Sudan. If this happens, the people of Abyei will have no say in what happens and if things do not go as planned, al-Bashir could simply revoke his decision.

News-Global Haiti Still in Dire Need of Help Almost a whole year since the Haiti earthquake and people are still suffering there. There was much media coverage and emergency response immediately after the earthquake but as soon as the media packed their cameras and left, so did the rest of the world. Unfortunately, a city cannot be built in a day and Haiti is no different. Much money was raised to help the citizens there right after the earthquake but much more money is required to ensure that Haiti is back on track. It will take the country about 20 years to recover from an earthquake that lasted a few hours. At the moment, people in Haiti are living in tents all over the city seeking help from the Red Cross and from other well wishers. Governments all across the world have sent their support to the Haiti government but much more still needs to be done. Children are suffering, as they are not attending school and there is a possibility of disease outbreaks due to the poor living conditions. With many people living together in tents, the possibility of cholera or any other airborne disease is very high. Regardless of what is happening in Haiti, Harusi Magazine continues to keep the people of Haiti in our prayers.

News-Events World AIDS Day - Dec 1 World AIDS Day is observed on every first day of December. In 2010, the theme for the event is Act Aware. It is observed to raise awareness of the global pandemic caused by the HIV infection. On this day, some people or organizations hold memorial services to honor all those people who have died from the infection. Governments and health officials mostly observe it by organizing public meetings and presenting speeches on the topic. Between 1981 and 1997, AIDS had claimed the lives of 25 million people across the world with more than 30 million people living with the virus as at 2007. This makes AIDS the largest global pandemic of all time. This event is marked to educate people infected with the virus to come out and receive treatment. Despite the advancement over the past twenty years, many people still die of the disease because they are too scared to seek treatment. Antiretroviral treatment is offered in every country of the world at either affordable process or completely no charges, making treatment very accessible. This is believed to be the date that Jesus Christ was born and this holiday is set aside to celebrate his birth. Although it is a predominantly Christian holiday, the event has come to be marked by both Christians and non-Christians alike because of the concept of the holiday. It is marked by exchanging gifts, spending time with family, decorations such as Christmas trees as well, mistletoe, lights and garlands among others.

News-events Many people mark Christmas by going to church to commemorate the birth of Jesus then spend the rest of the day feasting and making merry with family members. People decorate Christmas trees and place gifts under the tree for each member of the family. Young children are often told that Santa Claus or Father Christmas brings Christmas gifts and that they should leave a glass of milk and plate of cookies under the chimney for Santa to eat after dropping off the gifts.
