W

e mostly dwell on the area of relationships as we have come to understand that the relationships we have affect our relationships with God. God made man and made him relational, however there is a way he expects us to carry ourselves in those relationships that will not tear us apart from him and his grace. In this magazine we discuss that and equip the youth and single adults and even that in marriage on working relationships as God calls us to. We are aware that the world has many experts when it comes to love, relationships, dating, marriage and sex and they all have been generous to share their opinion with us, but this time we choose to look to the greatest of all experts, the all knowing God and his word on the matter.

O

ur relationship on earth is to be a reflection of our relationship with God, We are the bride of Christ and we must teach our generation that to keep them from falling from grace. To allow them to be ready and prepared for the bride groom when he comes, for he is coming, we just do not know when. We want our generation to stay focused and determined to wait on God and not miss him when he comes as illustrated in math 25:1-13. Shalom

Welcome This yearhas only been but a month old and yet so many things have happened and we thank God. For starters Harusi Enterprises has come together with Kingdom Business Network to do a new thing. Over the next few months you will be seeing some changes and we hope that you will be pleased. Kingdom Business Network is an organization that allows Christians to be equipped with Kingdom Principles and shows them how to apply them in their everyday life so as to be successful and prosperous as God intended. The network has a youth side, Kingdom business youth Network which Harusi ENT is proud to be a part of. God has indeed called us to do a new thing, a big thing as for that to happen there must be Unity. 2012 has me very excited as I see God giving his people a new revelation, a new word, a new covenant This is a new time, a time for the new wine and a time for new government. Indeed he is doing a new thing, and though we do not see it, it has already began, he is ready to do what no ear has heard, eye has seen or mouth has spoken of, and we are grateful to be chosen to partake of that. Even now as I write this I am out of words, completely overwhelmed and humbled by what God has chosen to do in, us, through us, and for us. I can only say, welcome to 2012, welcome to the new thing, and enjoy the ride. Shalom Welcome and Shalom Thitu Kariba

Timeless dating Just when I think I know God he comes around a shows me that I do not by doing something new. At that moment I realize why it is crucial to have an everlasting relationship with him, why each day we are to take time out to hang out and catch up. No matter how many times I can read the same verse in my bible, I find that each time I see things a new. If we have to take time out every day to catch up with God and get to know whim, we most certainly need to do the same with the one we love. Dating as I have said before is all about collecting data or information. As long as are alive, you are growing, you are changing, you are becoming a new model, what this means then, is that, each day there is more to learn about ourselves and the one we love. Dating in the initial stage is to allow you to have enough information so as to make a choice to enter into a relationship or not. Dating in the relationship and in marriage is to accommodate for the growth in each other and your relationship as time passes. Too often I have heard of couples who say that they hey have grown apart or they feel like strangers, if that s the case, my question to them would be “when is the last time you two went out on a date? One will often find that couples, who get familiar with each other, take time out from dating each other because they feel they know all there is to know. Now if the fact that we are alive means that we are growing and changing, that then means that there is always new information to be gathered about the one you love. There is therefore never a time to stop dating, it is timeless. 8

Dating

I always say that the one thing about the mind is that you can always change it. What I know today could change tomorrow, it could develop or it could even be of no use any more. One may think they know you, however what you knew about hat someone today, that someone could change tomorrow should they change their mind. Dating in the relationship or in the marriage is like updating your data systems. This should happen as often as data changes. A date is simply the time we put aside all other things to get to meet and know one another better, to know what is new. It does not have to happen in a restaurant, over coffee or out and about somewhere, it does not have to be expensive or cost you anything at all but your time and you willingness to listen and share. Dating is growth to a relationship, it is timeless, if you stop dating, your relationship, your marriage starts dying. Make a date with the one you love today!

Relationships

Live within your relationship status There are however lines that may not be visible but need to be drawn for every relationship to ensure you are living within your relationship status and not more. Many times I have mentioned that premarital sex is wrong, this is because sex is reserved for the marriage relationship where the conditions are right. O has talked about sex more than once so I won’t go there but I will talk about other things. Things like , your girlfriend or boyfriend paying your rent are examples of you not living within your relationship, you moving in together is another. When it comes to your boyfriends or girlfriend, I suggest that you ask yourself a few questions. This relationship goes beyond just being friends so you are allowed to do what friends do and some more, however you cannot do what married couples do. Simply check yourself by comparing your relationship to where you came from and where you are going. Do more than where you are coming from but not less than where you are going.

There are many things that can ruin a perfectly good relationship and going ahead of your time is one of them. The bible says that there is a time for everything, and though it may mention only some seasons and situations it applies all round even with relationships. There are many types of relationships. Friends, business, family, girl/ boyfriend, marriage and more. With each relationship, things we can do and cannot do that would be considered as crossing the line. When someone you do business with hits on you, they are crossing the business only line into another type of relationship, when you meet someone and begin to hang out know each other, you are crossing over from being strangers to being friends, when you are friends and you start to date that’s is yet another relationship and then there is couples who cross over into marriage. Some relationships ill only develop within themselves and others will develop into another type of relationship. One could become business partners from just acquaintances or best friends’ just friends.

Drawing lines allows both of you to know what goes and what does not even when others are doing it. It allows you to know what it is time for in whatever relationship you are in. It keeps the pressure off of both of you and it certainly prevents any confusion. Sit with the one you are in any relationship with and agree what your relationship status is and what should be happening within it. Map out the lines and know when you are crossing them both ways, going ahead of yourselves or going backwards.

Marriage I personal detest confrontation, I would like more than anything to get along, and however I will not get along with anyone at any cost. It is one thing to surrender or back away from a fight when you know there really is no winning whichever way you see it, but it’s another thing to bow down and let the other win just so there is calm. Some water can be calm, but it does not mean they are safe to swim in. when it comes to marriage, a life together, a happily ever after, can two really walk together unless they agree?

are in trouble because of disagreement. Submission means that even though we do not agree on the matter I will follow because I trust in God to keep us as I obey his will for our marriage. What grieves me still is that husbands are too willing to let go the will of God so as not to disagree with their wives. If mum is not happy no one is, but the question is, does it matter more to please your spouses or to please God?

The bible says that women are to submit to their husbands as unto God, see even God knew that conflict, disagreement would be an issue and put a law in place. When we as women choose to disobey that law, we choose to allow the enemy to come into our marriages, our businesses, our homes, our families and have his way. The devil is waiting for an opportunity to slither his way into your marriage, all he needs is a little crack and disagreement is that crack.

Husband would do worlds better in their God given assignment is they had wives who would back them up and submit. Wives would do worlds better if they allowed their God fearing and hearing husbands to lead the way. The world has taught us all about human rights, the right this do or have this or that, and it is opposed to submission because it calls for women to give up their rights to their husbands in the name of God. They have taken submission to mean oppression, what god meant for freedom is now in the world’s definition imprisonment, the devil is a liar. ! This particular topic is one that is so dear to me today because, due to one particular couple, I find that I and an entire generation

agree? Two cannot walk together if they cannot agree, and you may not agree in marriage but you can submit to your husband and he can submit to God will. Our lives affect the lives of other around us generations even and we have to stop and think about how our disobedience, our disagreement will affect the others. United we all stand, divided we fall even if we are not in the marriage with you, the choices you make do affect us.

Sex

Many times I wondered what was wrong with Samson, he was the strongest man in the world yet a woman who had no training in battle, who was no Kungfu master, no boxing skills a woman who probably never worked out in the gym had such a strong hold over him. Delilah did however give the kind of loving that made the strongest man in the world weak. In many cases you would think he was under a spell, but if you look deeper you will see I have a feeling; I could meet that is just what it was. Samson right now he would tell me the very same thing. Yes Sex is a powerful thing. God Delilah had a weapon, the kind designed it to make the two of loving she gave to a man (husband and wife) one. In a would make him weak, so weak marriage, one will often find she could get any information that a man will be willing to out of him even when it was jump in front of a bullet for fatal. Just think about it, each his wife and I believe that the time he told her his secret he gluing mechanism of sex has found that someone had used allot to do with that. Many the information against him times in relationships out of marriage where sex is involved, and yet he just kept giving into her until at last it was his down you will find that it has the ability to make us blind to what fall. is real. Sex outside marriage has a strong hold, a lust that pulls I know of many men and you deeper and deeper that it women that have felt the seems you would give anything needed to get out of a for it. Some may argue that, it relationship but found that something had a hold on them is not so with their boyfriend and they just could not walk or girlfriend, but the fact that you are giving up the goodies away. Many times I hear men before marriage just goes to and women say who plan show that it is true. True love to leave change their mind saying.. “But the sex is so good!” waits, while lust has to have it

now. The Delilah kind of loving has a way of blinding you from the truth and tells you that if you love them you ought to sleep with them now and not make them wait. Delilahs love cost Samson his might and his life and it did not start and end with Samson. Look around and ask yourself how many have gone down because of a Delilah somewhere? Let’s not be fooled into thinking it’s different because the one you are with loves you. If they won’t marry you first no matter how many reasons they give, they don’t love you. Love is not blind, true love is an eye opener, sex on the other hand, that right there not only blinds you, but has a hold on you. Delilah does not love you, she only loves herself.

Talking Spouses I have worked with people and never known whether they were married or not. I have worked with people and never met their spouses or known any personal details about their lives. This is not uncommon; usually the office is a place for business. The people you work with are not friends most times but acquaintances. People do not often share information about their personal lives with their work mates. Should personal relationships be a private matter at work? I have worked with people and even though I knew they were married, I had never met their spouses. At times the way I find out they are married is from assumption that is later confirmed through and action or asking. The people I have worked with before have been people I also hand out with while at work but in most cases outside work we do not meet up. Of you are married, should you introduce your spouse to your work mates?

12

Private or secret? This could also apply to people who are dating. If you have a boyfriend or a girl friend, do the people at work have to know? If they do not know is this considered you keeping it a secret or you keeping it private? Personally I like to keep my private life very private from acquaintances I will introduce this person to my family and friends however. Is that considered keeping it private or keeping it secret? On the two, with husbands and with the one you are dating, is there a manner in which they should conduct themselves in the office? PDA has never really been my thing, but that’s just me. Should PDA between your husband or your girlfriend or boyfriend be something that needs to be kept at a minimum when the office is factored it? Dark chocolates are healthy because many studies have shown that chocolate with cocoa content of over 70% improve platelet function and reduces oxidative stress. This has the effect of lowering LDL (bad) cholesterol. A recent study published in the Journal of Proteome Research shows that chocolate increases endorphins and reduces stress hormone (catecholamine’s and cortisol) levels, thereby reducing stress levels. Other health benefits of chocolates are that they reduce the inflammation of the blood, they increase blood flow to the brain and they have some anti-cancer properties.

Wealth You need not spend a fortune for a meaningful Valentine’s Day. You should avoid equating love with spending since the expensive things we do are often neither necessities nor necessarily expressions of love. You should not go on a buying frenzy on Valentine's Day. All you need is to acknowledge your love for your partner and to spend time together.

Cutting down on your Valentine’s Day Spending

You should minimize rather than do without what you need for Valentine’s Day. As an example, give one rose held in your teeth instead of a full dozen, accompanies by your best effort of a sexy Spanish dance. Another option to cut on spending is giving a single bar of chocolate instead of a full box. Consider making your own Valentines card to minimize your Valentine’s Day budgettin. This will not only save you money, the recipient will also feel appreciated given that you took your time to make the card. You should also consider cooking your lover food, especially if you do not eat home-cooked dinners often. A simple walk or a picnic will have a more lasting effect than a day in an expensive resort and it will cut on your spending. You could make vouchers or love coupons that contain promises that range from the downright sexy to the mundane. A good example is making a love voucher reading ‘This voucher is good for 1 week of dish washing by me’.

You could exchange gifts that are cheesy but sweet that remind you of one another. You should be spontaneous during the Valentine’s Day if you want to lower your budget. You could have dinner at home and do whatever you want to do later on, such as going to a movie or going dancing. Other options are doing a chore, planting in his/ her honor, making an exotic fruit basket from scratch, burning a CD of his/her favorite music and taking a walk down memory lane together.

Food and Wine You could take your spouse to a 5-star hotel, but you should learn to differentiate between love and spending. A simple Valentine’s Day dinner at home not only saves you money, it is also more effective because you get to spend quality time by yourselves and you get to prepare exactly what you want. If you want the perfect Valentine’s Day dining experience, avoid the temptation of cooking something too fancy, not unless you are an accomplished cook. This is however not to say that the dish should not have a Valentine’s Day theme. Consider such simple foods as Venison Pie, Wild Mushroom Lasagne, Sea Bass with Lemon Potatoes and Champagne and Rhubarb Jelly dessert. There are many recipes on romantic Valentines dinners in magazines and over the Internet. You should cook a meal that does not take too much of your time since a complex meal will leave you tired and you will not enjoy the day. Consider cooking something that can be cooked beforehand and warmed before serving.

16

Harusi Magazine

February/March

The Perfect Valentine’s Day Dinner Consider getting the insight of your partner on what he/she would like to eat. If you want the perfect valentine’s dinner, cook something that is not too filling. You will not be able to enjoy each other’s company after the dinner if you are too full. You should tidy up the house before serving the dinner. Ask housemates to stay away if you have any and leave your kids with a relative or a babysitter if you have some. Dress up for the date so that the date looks more like an occasion. Use proper China, silverware and glasses in the dinner. Set the table expertly, play soothing jazz or love music and create the right mood by using candle-light. No Valentine’s Day dinner is complete without a good bottle of wine. Champagne is the most romantic of all choices, but white wine will also do.

My Valentine’s Wardrobe

You should dress to impress for Valentine’s Day. You should have an outfit to wear during the day and one for the Valentine’s Day dinner. Men can get away with a simple suit and black or brown polished shoes, but getting a Valentine’s Day wardrobe is an odious task for the lady. You could wear work office clothes during the day if Valentine’s Day falls on a weekday. Avoid the cliché of wearing red work office clothes. You could simply wear a red blouse. You should avoid extremely short dresses. The clothes you wear should give you an elegant, sophisticated and effortless look. The dress should be mid-length and should sit at the knees. You should go for shift material dresses so that you can wear it with waist belt to hide bumps and lumps if you have any. If you are having a Valentine’s Day dinner, pair the dress with tights and heels. You should go for ncie bags . The jacket you

Fashion

wear should complement the dress you are wearing. Remove the jacket the moment you enter the hotel. Consider wearing body stockings for your Valentines Dinner. You should however choose a colour that goes well with your skin tone. You should wear simple but elegant accessories. Consider what you will be doing after the dinner when making the choice. Note that elegance is more important than keeping with the day’s theme. The bottom line is that you should be comfortable in the outfit you choose. For the married couples, consider buying lingerie if you are more conservative to make the night something to remember. dresses, miniskirts, ruffled short skirts, and tied tops, dresses that have lace up backings, bustiers, thigh-high leg warmers and corsets. Trie a different color ffrom red such as his favourite color.

Flowers Home

in the

It’s valentine season. The days when love and romance are at the top of many conversations and flowers abound in every nook and cranny, every street corner and hopefully in our homes too. Flowers can be used to create favourite spots we love to walk by, relax in, or reenergize in. A behavioral research study conducted by Nancy Etcoff, Ph.D., of Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School, reveals that people feel more compassionate toward others, have less worry and anxiety, and feel less depressed when fresh cut flowers are present in the home. “Other research has proven that flowers make people happy when they receive them,” Etcoff says. “What we didn’t know is that spending a few days with flowers in the home can affect a wide variety of feelings.” So, besides their aesthetic value, flowers also contribute to your general feelings of wellbeing and happiness.

Home Home

contrasting with red roses. Another way to use colour in choosing your flowers is to opt for monochromatic colours, that is, different kinds of flowers with the same colour. Buy the freshest flowers available so that they stay fresh longer. Add water to the vase and change it altogether if it gets cloudy. Every two days or so, cut about 2 inches off the bottom of the stems with a sharp knife and put back in fresh water immediately. Keep away from heat and direct sunlight. So, go ahead and get some flowers and enjoy the sense of wellbeing they bring.

When choosing flowers for a room, consider what is already going on in the room. A wall with a bookcase and framed pictures would be softened by a vase of flowers. A large arrangement creates a focal point in a room whilst a smaller arrangement would be good for a conversational place such as the dining table. The colour scheme in a room is another way to help you choose flowers. You could choose to follow the colours in a room or to contrast them completely. For example, a room done in blues would contrast well with bright sunflowers, or a room with a green scheme

Home Lighting in a home is functional, adds drama and style to the spaces we live in, both inside and outside the house. It is important to give careful thought to how each room is lighted to finish the overall dĂŠcor of a room. Here are some things to look pout for when designing the lighting dĂŠcor. In your home office, factor in task lighting for reading, writing, and computer work, and general lighting for the surrounding area. An adjustable desk lamp will provide task light for desk and keyboard areas. Position all lights so that their bulbs do not reflect in the computer screen. Look to halogen desk lamps for bright, clean lighting that's perfect for reading and other tasks. In the kitchen, more than the general roof light, include lights under cabinets that illuminate specific work areas. Believe me, when you are rolling out those chapatis at

night and the space is well illuminated, it makes for easier work and that food might just taste better! Artwork can be enhanced by focused lights which draw attention to them. These could be ceiling lights that are directed towards the art or even floor lamps that track the pictures. A new lamp shade is an easy way to update the dĂŠcor in your room. It is an instant way to match new paint in a room or to complete a new upholstery job. Floor and table lamps can be used to change the mood in a room. For nights when easy or intimate conversations are called for, these lamps provide the perfect environment to relax in and enjoy the company you are in. In the gardens, general lighting that imitates nature provides a comfortable feel. Lighting wired through the branches of mature trees give the feel of magical moonlight. Path lights should not have glare that blind people and should instead allow for safe walking along the garden paths.

Valentine’s Day Home Décor Valentine’s Day provides a perfect opportunity to add some special ambience to your home. After the festivities of Christmas and New Year, January can seem quite long and drab and February brings Valentine’s and an opportunity to spice up your home décor. So, put on your creative hats and have some fun with these simple do-it-yourself tips. Add valentine colours to your living room. Have fun with reds, whites, pinks and chocolate brown. Change the covers of your cushions into something with these colours and add a throw to brighten up your sofas. Flowers also bring the romance of valentine’s. Red, pink or yellow roses are a beautiful addition in your living room. Red and white scented candles add to the ambience and feel of your home and create a more intimate setting.

For that special valentine’s day meal, spice up your dining table with valentine themed tableware, a red runner or table cloth, with red or pink napkins and placemats. The centrepiece can be flowers or a bowl of red apples and chocolates. A small box with chocolate and candy can be placed at each place setting for the guests.

In your bedroom, soft, smooth and luxurious fabrics make the day … or night. Fabrics such as velvet with rich red hues on throws and pillows are beautiful and feel good. Here too, the scented candles bring out the romance and wonder of this day. Another quick way to add ambience is adding appropriate lighting. This is the time for dim lighting and simple lamp shades. These are a few and simple ways to add some valentine romance to your home. Remember, design is all about expressing yourself in the spaces you live in. Have fun showing the romantic side of you and at the same time adding some freshness to your home.

The Clutter War HELP!! My home is under attack. We have a ‘clutter attack’! It comes at me from every direction. The books and papers are plotting the air attacks, they already have the floors covered. The toys have taken over any space left over by the papers beneath the sofas and the beds. Even the provisions in my kitchen which are meant to nourish my family seem to be plotting against me and never stay in order in the place where I put them. Well, I’ve had enough, it’s time to implement my counter attack plan. To begin with, I will go right to the middle of this ‘clutter-regime’, the books and papers squad. I need to sort separate those that we use from those that have not been touched in years. Did I just see a telephone directory from 1999? Why do I keep these things? Step 1 – all obsolete books need to go! So, telephone directory, company annual reports from yesteryears, newspapers all must go. A good place to take them would be a recycling factory. Step 2 – school textbooks that my children are no longer using could be helping other children. A children’s home or friends and relatives with kids in the appropriate classes would appreciate these. Step 3 – have all the stationery arranged in an organized form. Storage for papers, pencils, crayons can be in many forms. Each item should have its own space. The next level of my counter attack is the toys. The holiday season brought a fresh supply of toys. This gives the kids an opportunity to learn giving. Older toys which still work well would be a welcome gift in a children’s home. The broken ones, well, those just have to go. My kitchen is the final frontier. As I go through the many little containers, I cannot believe 22

I have spices and food colours that expired 4 years ago! Where have they been hiding? With these gone, I can now focus on what’s left. Food containers for all the dry food items help to arrange them and keep them neatly organized on the shelves. The same containers will also keep the fridge well organized. So, thus begins my journey to a clutter free home. No more ‘clutter attacks’, I will declutter.

Cars BMW 3-Series Coupe It is the tail lights. One evening, driving along somewhere in town, I saw this set of tail lights that just stood out. Sometimes love creeps up on you, sometimes it catches you off guard, sometimes, you find yourself in love without ever knowing you were falling in love. It was thus when I saw the 3-series coupe at night. I had seen a few of them in the light of day but I only realized how gorgeous this car is when the sun set. It was the lights that did it. The car is a beauty.

I had seen a grey one parked in Westlands and thought it great looking but not necessarily gorgeous. Then one day, I was running errands, I walked out of the mall I was in, jumped into my car and there in my rear view mirror was a red Audi S5. Breathtaking.

Valentine Dinner: Baked Fresh Lobster

Cover the lobster with a drizzle of the butter. Two teaspoons should be enough.

Although you should prepare a valentine dinner that does not take too much of your time, this is not to say that you should make something overly simplistic. A valentine dinner that combines class with time saving is baked fresh lobster. This valentine dinner goes well with a bottle of Chardonnay and a Classic Whiskey Sour cocktail. Each serving has 1366 calories, total fat of 82.5 grams and 361mg of cholesterol. It takes 20 minutes to prepare the meal and 35 minutes to cook. The recipe yields 2 servings.

Put the lobster into a 2-inch deep baking dish. Do not cover the lobster while you are baking. After baking, set the oven to broil and toast the cracker for between 3 and 5 minutes. Serve the lobster with the melted butter that is left. Harusi Magazine

Letter from Miss Boss

The bride of Christ

Many times when we think about the bride of Christ, we think about the church as a whole. May times when some of us think about the church today, we think about all that is wrong with the church, we think about judgment, and tithes and offerings and how they are used or not used, we think about hypocrisy and much more that does not begging to describe what God has in mind for the church. Today I have come to a place where I have removed myself the church, in that I see the bride of Christ being a more personal affair and not a global one. I see myself the bride of Christ, I see myself as his church. I came to the complete understanding that I am under the new covenant with God which is all about truth and grace and not Law. I got to understand that the new covenant is he as the groom and I as his bride one on one. You are the bride of Christ, he has chosen you to be his, to have and to hold, for richer or for poorer, for better or worse, in sickness or health for eternity. Jesus is not asking you to be perfect; he is taking you as you are because he is perfect on your behalf. Jesus is not asking for you to work for the perfection either because he did the work on your behalf. All he is asking is for you to say yes, to say I do. To be the bride of Christ means to live as his bride, to have a relationship with his as a groom and his bride. When a bride says I do, she then has a right to everything her husband owns, has and is regardless of her state. Jesus is saying under the new covenant that, now that you are in me and I in you and that we are one, everything I own is yours, everything I have is yours, everything I have worked for is yours, and you can enjoy the benefits of being his bride not by works but by accepting him. Under the new covenant, the bride of Christ has no more limitations, not because she worked harder and rose higher, but because Christ has no limitations and as his bride he is automatically and heir and partaker of all that is his, she has the right to it ALL. As his bride, we also get to know him more, we get to have him lead us as the head of the home and as we well know he has good plans for us, for a future and a hope. Having such a close relationship to him means you get to know what he knows, he gets to guide you and by just trusting in him, submitting to him you get to reap all the benefits. You are the bride of Christ; you are now under the new covenant of his grace (unmerited favor) and truth. It is not by works, it is my knowing and believing that you now live it. It is not by law but by love.
