Nathaniel was feeling gloomy today. He really wanted to go outside and play. But in Orlando, Florida it was going to be rainy all day. So inside, unfortunately, he had to stay.

He looked out the window at the puddles of rain, And connected the drops on the window pane.

As he sat there thinking of what to do, Nathaniel looked around the bedroom for a clue.

Then an idea came to his head, The biggest clue was right on his bed.

Today a marine biologist he will be, And study the animals that live in the sea.

Today he gets to pretend, That time in the ocean he will spend.

In a submarine Nathaniel jumps in. Now the under sea adventure will begin.

As he goes down into the sea, Many different animals he begins to see.

There are plain fish, striped fish, and even some with polka-dots. Some have tiny or really big spots.

Fish with all the colors of the rainbow, Some swimming alone and others swimming in a row.

With a pod of dolphins Nathaniel got to play, Leaping and diving is what they do all day.

After a long time playing, they were ready to eat, Tiny fish are for them a very tasty treat.

Some sharks Nathaniel got to see They were swimming around him. He counted three. They were curious to find out if he was a seal. Maybe they thought he was their next tasty meal.

Fast on the submarine he climbed in a hurry, Away from the sharks Nathaniel did scurry.

Over the coral reef he swims on by, To get a closer look he will try.

He sees all the different colors and all the different shapes. All the little hiding places the fish have to escape. Coral are animals of the sea, They are very beautiful to see.

A stingray quickly swims by, Its strange body looks like a carpet that could fly.

Nathaniel quickly follows it to see where it will go, But soon it starts swimming down below.

Down to the sand it glides, And quickly it hides.

An octopus he sees blending in the sand, Grabbing tiny fish as if it had a hand.

As Nathaniel got a little closer the octopus got scared. So some of its ink it shared.

So Nathaniel decided to leave it alone. But when the water cleared the octopus was gone.

On his adventure he continued to go, Down into the deep he went slow.

As he swam in the dark, wanting some light, All of the sudden he saw something bright.

It kept swimming towards him. Was it a fish? Oh yes! It’s an angler fish.

It came towards him for a little bite. Nathaniel swam away in fright.

He swam for a while, And felt tired after swimming almost a mile. Then he saw a whale, He got to ride on its tail.

Once he was near the shore He waved goodbye and was in his room once more.

There is no better way for your time to spend, Than having an adventure when you pretend.
