CIM InCare _____________________________________________________________________________________________ More welfare for less money CIM develops user-friendly and innovative systems to create effective and improved working conditions, even though the trend is that there are fewer staff members to take care of more residents with nursing or care needs. In other words, our mission is to create better welfare for less money, with the help of innovative and user-friendly technology. The CIM InCare solution A lack of communication often leads to the use of unnecessary resources (especially time) by staff, relatives and residents. For this reason, CIM has developed a communication model so that staff, relatives and residents can share knowledge using a simple and user-friendly system. Example Olga Jensen is a resident in the Sølyst care home. Her daughter often calls the care home to check how she is doing. Occasionally, the carer who answers the phone has just started her shift and does not have the latest information. The carer therefore has to go to the office to find the journal before she can call back. •

With CIM InCare, Olga’s daughter can find information by logging in to a special website. Sensitive personal information is not accessible.

Olga’s daughter also wants to visit her mother on Friday and eat lunch with her in the care home. •

Using the special website, Olga’s daughter can sign up for lunch, and register her visit using the calendar function. She can see in the calendar that, for example, her mother has appointment for physiotherapy at 10 a.m. Olga’s daughter can then plan her visit accordingly.

In the care home, the chef has decided on the meal plan for the next week. The meal plan is copied and distributed for display in the care home. Olga Jensen asks her carer what’s on the menu for next Tuesday, since she wants to invite her daughter to come over for supper. The carer first needs to go out into the passage to see the meal plan before she can answer.

With CIM InCare, the chef can put the meal plan in the system, and attach photos of the food. The meal plan is immediately visible on all screens in the care home. If Olga Jensen has her own touch-screen in her room, she can see all the information from the chef by touching a special icon.

Innovative and user-friendly welfare technology CIM InCare develops applications for mobile touch screens and PCs, with a view to integrating these with established care systems, as well as with other thirdparty suppliers.

How does CIM InCare make a difference? InCare ensures that staff, relatives and residents communicate effectively, so that duplication of work and extra ad-hoc practical tasks are avoided. The staff can instead nurse and offer care to the residents. In addition, the system makes a range of information available, which allows the relatives to plan visits and follow what is happening to their loved ones. In this way, InCare empowers all users.

CIM Care systems are therefore designed for: • users (staff, residents, family and so on), and • existing standard public systems. In this way, a smooth implementation is ensured, and the system is used, thereby: • reduces time-consuming procedures • frees up time for the tasks that require human contact • promotes communication between staff, residents and relatives.

What is InCare? InCare is a system which enables staff, relatives and residents to share information and thereby save resources (especially time). Using touch-screens, Smart Phones and the web, staff, relatives and residents have access to: • A calendar and activity overview, which makes it possible to coordinate outings, physical therapy, visits, and so on. • A message service via SMS and e-mail. This enables communication with relatives and others. • Staff contact information. • Internal staff messages, including history. • The meal plan: the week’s menu, with a booking function. • Information: care home information, and various brochures. • Medication, including reminders. • An optional camera. This can be used at exits or for monitoring selected rooms. • An optional Skype-module. User interface InCare was developed in close cooperation with users, to ensure a self-evident and easily accessible user interface. To illustrate the system’s user logic, some of the system’s features are shown below. Here is the InCare main menu (basic version).

The icons are easy for users of all ages to understand. Here is the icon for the calendar system. This is used for planning the day’s, week’s and month’s activities. Information on individual residents can be entered in the calendar, for example, if there are special dietary requirements for a limited period, or if other precautions must be taken.

Kirstine was moved to the basin, and used her electric toothbrush with help. She was also guided through other personal hygiene. Kirstine’s hearing aids were put in both ears. Kirstine was helped to stand using the turning tower. Her pants were pulled up and she moved to her wheelchair. Kirstine was wheeled down to the lounge and had breakfast and medicine. Afternoon: Kirstine ate lunch (cut up for her) in the lounge and had medicine. Kirstine was moved to her room for a rest at 12h45 and used the commode (the turning tower was used to move her again). Kirstine was given the intercom to call from her room – she can do this herself if she needs help. Kirstine got up at 14h00 and used the commode. Kirstine had afternoon tea in the lounge. Evening: Kirstine ate supper (cut up for her) in the lounge and had medicine. Kirstine says when she needs to use the commode. Kirstine had evening tea in the lounge. Edit

InCare hardware, software and implementation InCare touch-screen • 38.1 cm (15”) protected touch-screen • Anti-bacterial cabinet • EN60601-1-1, EN60601-1-2 certified • Designed for light cleaning and cleaning with alcohol • Aluminium cabinets are hygienic and low noise. InCare technology Whether the InCare-solution is installed in a residential unit, a care home or in a private home, we draw up a system diagram to ensure: • That the touch-screen and IP-camera can be wall mounted. • The power supply to the units. • An Internet connection (minimum 5 Mbit). • A cabled local network, with connections to the touch-screen and IP-camera, as well as a switch to connect the screen and camera. • A router, which connects the local network to the Internet (the switch and router are typically build together into one unit). • The local network, which must be a private subnet. • A fixed IP-address, if the IP-camera must be set up. These requirements apply to all the residences that must be connected to the system. Support and empowerment After we have installed the system, the users are instructed on its various uses. The customer also receives an operating guide, including user- and access information. To ensure that the system is implemented as intended, every care home must have at least one InCare super user, who can answer questions, instruct new staff and so on. The CIM group establishes network groups, where super users and other users can meet with CIM people to discuss use, functions, and possible future development. The user group meetings are scheduled every 6 months, or as needed. In addition, CIM interconn offers telephone support, which is charged at 200 Danish kroner (approximately 27 euros, or 22.50 pounds) per 15 min, or part thereof. Telephone support is in English or Danish, and available on weekdays, from 8h00 to 16h00.
