The Beach LEARN (& PLAY) AT

Education Is Just The Start

Looking for a place that will wow parents and teens alike? Bring your next student group trip to The Beach. We’ve got 60 miles of sunny beaches, more than 2,000 restaurants and tons of opportunities for learning (and fun).

Spend your days taking advantage of more than 500,000 sq. ft. of pristine facilities for conferences, performances, tournaments and sporting events, while never traveling too far from our sandy shores to enjoy a quick stroll on the beach or waterfront meal in between events.

Of course, the best part of group travel in Myrtle Beach are the activities you can experience when your events are done.

Go for big thrills at our amusement parks, keep the competition going with a round of mini golf or just kick back and relax by the pool. From daring watersports and zipline adventures to classic beachfront arcades, unique museums and exciting shows, the options are endless when it comes to entertaining the “always on” generation.

Explore 14 unique oceanside communities — each with their own educational opportunities — and discover all The Grand Strand has to offer.

FEATURED ACTIVITY Educational Sessions

For a perfect complement to your classroom curriculum, attractions such as Ripley’s Aquarium, Medieval Times and Wonderworks offer immersive learning opportunities for all ages. With facilities designed to provide immersive STEM learning experiences, these attractions can create educational sessions to fit your group’s needs.

Student Workshops

Band, choir, and dance workshops are available at Alabama Theatre, The Carolina Opry, Legends in Concert, Broadway Theater, GTS Theatre, and Medieval Times. Master classes are customized to fit your group’s needs.

Workshops often include an instructional session with a highly trained cast member, and backstage tour.

African American History Museums

The Historic Myrtle Beach Colored School Museum and Education Center provides a window to the past.

The old school, opened in 1932 as a product of segregated times, has been preserved in spirit and recreated in fact and continues to fulfill an educational mission with tours, programs and other sessions devoted to teaching students about the area’s past. Other sites with tours available for student groups includes Freewods Farm in Socastee, Charlie’s Place in Myrtle Beach and L.W. Paul Living History Farm in Conway.

Performance Opportunities

Student bands, choirs, dance teams and other performance groups looking for opportunities to get in front of an audience have many options at The Beach.

Venues including the House of Blues, Myrtle Beach Pelicans, Broadway at the Beach, Barefoot Landing and Tanger Outlets, all offer the chance to perform for guests and surprise and delight visitors from all over the world. Contact the venue for details or reach out to the Visit Myrtle Beach team for contact information.

Technical & Theatre Tours

Technical tours are available at select theaters complimentary with the purchase of a show ticket.

These backstage tours are conducted by a professional stage manager and include a look at wardrobe, greenroom, light and sound equipment and more.

Brookgreen Gardens Tours

Brookgreen Gardens is one of America’s premier public sculpture gardens and features a variety of educational opportunities for student groups.

Students can tour the gardens and observe the history of the collection or experience the Lowcountry Trail Audio Tour which introduces students to four colonial rice plantations that became Brookgreen Gardens. It also explores the customs & history of the Gullah Geechee people.
