“It’s hard to believe it’s been ten years since we opened the Center. I am certain over the past ten years, all of the volunteers and staff who have contributed to the Welcome Center have made a huge impact on Sanford.”

MARGARET MEAD IS QUOTED AS SAYING, “NEVER FORGET THAT A SMALL GROUP OF THOUGHTFUL, COMMITTED CITIZENS CAN CHANGE THE WORLD; INDEED, IT’S THE ONLY THING THAT EVER HAS." In October 2005, two community residents, Margie Chusmir and Kim House approached the City Commission with the idea of turning the former Post Office into a Welcome Center for the city. What resulted was a public-private partnership between the City and the Historic Sanford Welcome Center. The City provided the building, utilities and start up funding for part-time staff. The Welcome Center agreed to incorporate as a non for profit to serve as ambassadors to downtown Sanford. They also agreed to take over the operation of the monthly “Alive After 5” event the City had launched after the redevelopment of First Street. Volunteers joined forces with the Welcome Center and the founding board of directors fell into place: Steve Richards, President; Kim House, Vice President; Kathy Anderson, Treasurer and Margie Chusmir, Secretary. The Center opened its doors in May, 2006. Today, the Welcome Center greets thousands of guests all year long. The Welcome Center serves as a tourism bureau for Sanford, greeting over 20,000 guests per year. For over 10 years, Rose Harkey has been

5

donating her time to billing and banking for the Welcome Center events and daily operations. Once a month, Karen Casey hangs the art for the monthly Art Walk and Marilyn Maples seeks out local musicians to play at the event. A crew of 25 plus is the key to the success of the Welcome Center’s monthly Alive After 5 street party. Event Planner, DeAnne Maples manages the event and the volunteers work their magic. The Welcome Center’s Board of Directors are also volunteers. Brian Casey, President, oversees the staff and chairs the Arts Committee; Len Surdin, Vice-President, manages Alive After 5; Secretary, Sherrie Wysong recruits volunteers; Treasurer, Wayne Deming oversees finances and three new Board members Josh Dane, Lisa Holder and Perla B. Crosby. Margie Chusmir serves in the role of Founder. Thank you to all the volunteers for working so hard toward the continuing growth and success of both the Welcome Center & AA5.

If you live in or are visiting Sanford, please make the Welcome Center your first stop. We are waiting for you to get to know and enjoy our wonderful historic town. email us at: E D I T O R @ M Y S A N F O R D M A G A Z I N E . C O M . Stay up to date on more events by liking My Sanford

IN THE YEARS FOLLOWING WORLD WAR II and the late 1990’s, the business district of Sanford Avenue was significantly altered in the name of “progress.” The changes favored the automobile and paid little attention to the pedestrian. An award winning $2.5M streetscape was completed in early 2015. Improvements included brick streets, wide sidewalks, lush landscaping, streetlights, and infrastructure upgrades. Sanford Avenue’s unique sense of place and charm is highlighted by heritage markers between 1st Street and 6th Street, as well as an interpretive seating area in the Gateway Park. The gateway feature anchoring the 6th Street end of the project was designed to pay homage to the historic churches that played a pivotal role in shaping Georgetown’s history. Things have certainly changed in Sanford and the city is ready for you to come explore!

IN PARTNERSHIP WITH AMTRAK, LAKE MARY SHUTTLE PROVIDES DAILY TRANSPORTATION FOR PASSENGERS from the Amtrak Auto Train Station on Persimmon Avenue bringing passengers to Downtown Sanford’s Historic Welcome Center on First Street. Thanks to funding from the Sanford Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA), the shuttle is free of charge and runs daily from the Amtrak Auto Train Station to Downtown Sanford every 20 minutes from 12 PM to 2 PM with return trips until 2:40 PM. With the arrival of Central Florida’s first commuter rail system “SunRail,” the city had an urgent need for transportation services for commuters entering the City of Sanford via the SunRail. The Lake Mary Shuttle Service is now providing roundtrip transportation service to commuters weekdays between 10AM until 3PM coinciding with the SunRail’s operating schedule. Since its inception, the program has continued to prove itself as a great investment in getting new visitors to the downtown area. Shuttle Service is also provided to Sanford’s Alive After 5 Street Party.

Maybe you don't know about the Wop’s Hops Brewing Co. location 9

GREG PIECORA STARTED AT HOME BREWING BEER IN 2008 and there he shared his home brew with his friends and gave it away at charity events, parties and special events.

“THE BOKEY” Smoked Ale, English Pub Style ESB, Honey Nut Brown, Honey Oatmeal Stout, Morning Wood, Ode to Joy, Root Beer Beer, The Dirty Griffin & others.

In 2014, Greg and his business partner, Peter Minelga, opened the very first micro-brewery establishment in Sanford. Wop's Hops is located on the renovated Sanford Avenue in Historic Downtown Sanford in the landmark Stokes Fish Market building.

Wop's Hops opened their Kitchen in May 2016 which is conveniently located next door to the Brewery, where they are serving delicious gourmet sandwiches, vegetarian flat bread pizzas and hot veggie pressed sandwiches, as well as savory chips & snacks. Come enjoy their craft ales, wines and sodas in their tasting room and dog-friendly beer garden.

Greg, a former law enforcement retired as an US Navy, has a passion for a good beer. His truly inspired beer varieties include:

"Before opening the brewery we were contacted by RIP Ghost Hunters. They requested permission to come into the building to see if it was haunted. After a five hour investigation it was determined that we have 5 spirits living in and around the building and property. We haven’t seen any ghosts materialize, however the light in the hallway leading to the bathroom keeps burning out without any logical reason." —Greg Piecora

We are pleased to announce the winners for the first Best of Sanford Awards. Congratulations to all the winners for their amazing contributions to our community—you are all such important features of Sanford’s charming personality.

JEFF SONSKEN A RT IS T O F PA IN T T HE T R A IL PERL A B. CROSBY Q. Our community loves your contribution to the city, can you tell us about your connection with Sanford? A. I was asked by Brian Casey and Marilyn Maples from the Welcome Center to participate in Art in Public Places. This was something they thought of and were going to showcase different artists every other month in the courtyard. I was the first person they asked to participate. After a couple of months I contacted Brian and asked if they wanted the art removed. He said they haven't figured out who's next. I asked if I could swap out the art so it doesn't get stale. He agreed. I repeated this process every couple of months. After 6 to 8 months of doing this, I stopped asking and just swapped out the art thinking they would notify me when they wanted the art to come down. It's been maybe two be two and a half years of me doing this now. It's like the art has become a part of Sanford now. I don't get paid or reimbursed for it but the people there like it so I'll keep doing it. That's how I became acquainted with Sanford and the people there. The more I hung out in Sanford, the more I enjoyed it. Q. Paint the Trail is a great name—how did you come up with it? A. I created a Facebook page one day. The first question I asked myself was " What's the name of my page?”—I hadn't thought about that at all. I decided on the name “Paint the Trail.” I figured I could come up with something better later on. I didn't realize I wouldn't be able to change the name. The name stuck. WHAT DO YOU DO WHEN YOU’RE NOT PAINTING? WHAT ARE YOU CURRENTLY WORKING ON?

“I'm always painting. There is hardly a day that goes by where I don't paint. It's like eating or breathing. I can hardly function if I don't do it. I've become obsessed. It's an addiction. I cannot stop.” Q. What does being Seminole County's 2013 Artist of the Year mean to you? A. I'm not sure what it really means. Art is something subjective. Everyone has a different taste. The different styles of art are endless. There are so many great artists and artwork out there. The Artist of the Year Award? Yea, it was nice to receive. 13

SWEETS

TO DIE FOR M ARIA M ADSEN

Sanford is fast becoming recognized as the historically preserved jewel in Central Florida’s crown. Coming from Orlando/Winter Park/Maitland/ via Sun Rail, and escaping the traffic and congestion of I-4, you can, within minutes, find yourself in an oasis of leisurely paced, historically preserved buildings & shops amid brick lined streets, lovely riverboat waterfronts, fine farm to table dining establishments, and the very best in sweet shoppe fare.

COME TO SANFORD FOR DESSERT! New to Sanford, Mattie’s Delectable Desserts (110 Park Avenue). Mattie's is known for her signature Cup Cakes and desserts, like the best butter pecan cake I’ve ever tasted, or her fresh-from-the-oven cinnamon rolls. She also offers the best in seafood lunch fare. Try her Sanford Seafood Chowder or the Smoked Salmon and Avocado Sandwich on her freshly baked gluten free bread. All ingredients are locally farmed and 90% organic. Don’t miss this new addition to Sanford’s best. Also new to Sanford is the charming European-style Dreamy Cakes (114 W. Second St). Angel, a French-trained pastry chef, invites us into her enchanting dollhouse bakery. Draw on chalkboard tables while you order her locally farmed fare & sip on locally harvested French Press Lineage coffee. Macaroons, filled cupcakes, gourmet toppings and cake pops are all to die for. PHOTO CREDIT PARK AVENUE PHOTOGRAPHY

Angel’s custom cakes are masterpieces of artistry & taste not seen anywhere else this side of Paris. Take a step back in time and stop in to see Hattie at Park Avenue Popcorn (108 S. Park Avenue). It’s a charming old-fashioned candy shop that smells so good you don’t want to leave. Hattie buys local and uses real butter which makes all the difference in taste. A wide array of flavors is offered including lemon, cheddar and caramel apple. Her Caramel Cotties are bestsellers and her ice cream is the real deal. Don’t forget to browse the candy bins before you leave. Pixie sticks and neccos—who can resist? Wondermade (214 E. First St.) offers the best marshmallows. Their window slogan “Love & Marshmallows” explains itself when you bite into the soft, delicate flavor of everyone’s favorite fluffy treat. Bourbon mallows are a best seller. S’mores, fireball snd mimosa are original flavors complemented by best brew coffee. Try a new homemade delicious ice cream flavor. Old reliables—like Sal’s Italian Ice and Dairy Queen—keep Sanford’s feel of tradition. Each combines the traditional and the new.

SAL’S ITALIAN ICE PHOTO CREDIT BENEVOLENCE PHOTOGRAPHY

At Dairy Queen (2523 Park Dr.) the same delicious cones of past days are now complemented by new treats like watermelon or strawberry smoothies—made with real fruit juice.

Sal’s Italian Ice (2521 French Ave.) offers more than its name suggests. Alongside those icy favorites are ice cream with astounding toppings and dreamy gelato. The Italian Ice is homemade every day from real fruit purees. There are 16 flavors available daily from over 30 flavors. Sal’s also has six hand-dipped flavors, as well as soft serve ice cream. There is also a sugar free option for those who want it. Sal and Nancy love dogs, so Sal’s offers a free doggie sundae when pooches bring their people. What sweet wonders Sanford has to offer! Writing about them has me ready to go back for more and gives me ideas of where I’m going for special gifts.

the coast of Fajardo located on the northeast of the island; the tiny organisms in the water glow when they swim away from movement and are indeed a spectacular sight best visible on a new moon night. Puerto Rico’s pride might just be the subtropical rainforests of ‘El Yunque’ spread over thick green mountains. This is the perfect setting to go hiking and catch a glimpse of the endangered Puerto Rican Parrot or meet the tiny Coquis which are the tree frogs of this region. You can also explore the limestone caves or waterfalls and freshwater lakes.

The beaches here are amongst the most beautiful in the world with abundant facilities. The waters offer a variety of adventure sports like surfing, sailing, kayaking, spearfishing, scuba diving and snorkeling. The best part about the Puerto Rican beaches is you can choose the busier ones or retreat to more secluded spots and enjoy the backdrop of white sand and turquoise blue waters. You can even go horseback riding on some of the beaches.

The island’s diverse tropical terrain, traditional cuisine, old plantations and historical towns meet every traveler’s expectations, allowing you to indulge in an ‘island experience’ like no other.

La diversidad en el terreno tropical de la isla, su cocina tradicional, sus platanales antiguos, y sus pueblos históricos satisfacen todas las expectativas del viajero, regalándole una gratificante experiencia isleña como ninguna otra.

SANFORD LADIES 327 SUPPER CLUB PERL A B. CROSBY Q. Stylist, mother, wife, daughter, and sister. How do you also manage the creative role of Sanford 327? Tell us more about the group. A. Besides being a stylist at Ulta Salon, mother to my 2 boys Mason and Chase, wife to my husband David, daughter to my parents and sister to my brothers, I do find the time to promote and grow Sanford's biggest community group page Sanford 327 with the help of my 4 other admins, John DiDonna, Kim Colegrove, Debbie Burford and Jeff Harker, without these guys I would be lost. Our group is for our Sanford Community and surrounding areas. It was created to help promote our community, the go to place for information and to support our local businesses! It has grown to over 6000 member strong and we appreciate and love all of our active members of the group, they help make Sanford the best place to live! Q. You created the Sanford Ladies 327 Supper Club—share with the readers how this group contributes to our community. A. The ladies 327 Supper Club was started because I am a huge foodie, and I wanted to get out and meet new ladies in my community. I thought about a supper club that could meet a couple of times a

month for lunch and dinners dedicated to the women of 327. It started with 80 women and has grown to over 500 of the most fabulous group of ladies I have ever met in my life! Our motto is supporting our community one meal at a time! That came from the admins of 327 Supper Club who helped grow and support the supper club. These admins include Kim Colegrove, Debbie Burford, Patty Williams, Lisa Wilson, Jann Parker, Amy Elizabeth and of course myself! We have even taken a step further from lunches and dinners and have held food drives, fundraisers, and events supporting local businesses such as cheers to the brush, jewelry making, wine making and other fun group events once a month!

SUMMER CAMP M ARNIE F ORE STIERI- GOME Z

It’s that time of the year again: summer camp. There are many different types of camps with distinct missions available in our community that it becomes an adventure to find the perfect summer camp experience for your child. That is the reason that understanding your family goals for the summer experience will help you narrow down the type of camp that is best for your child. The most important goal of a summer camp is having fun. But I also want to you to consider some questions to maximize the abilities to attain lifelong benefits of your summer experience.

CHOOSE WHAT YOUR CHILD LIKES TO DO Summer Camp offers children a great opportunity to learn about their abilities, interests and develop what they like to do. If your son or daughter is interested in sports, selecting a camp that provides the right instruction, equipment and facilities is a great opportunity to enhance their sports abilities. If the main mission of the camps is not sports or physical activity, consider a provider that understands the importance of including physical activities in their daily schedule. Children spend too much time inside and sitting around. They should be provided with the opportunity to move and exercise. In Orlando, there are many awesome summer camps that offer arts, technology, Science and outdoors activities for children to explore.

PROVIDE OPPORTUNITIES TO UNPLUG FROM TECHNOLOGY

For the digital generation, it is important to rediscover their creative side and engage with the real world including people, experiences and emotions. When selecting a provider, ask about their policy on video games and watching movies. Consider providers that have a policy regarding setting time limits for the use of technology in the classroom.

BECOME MORE CONFIDENT

Camp helps children build self-confidence and self-esteem by removing the kind of academic, social and athletic competition that they experience during the school year. Camp life is an opportunity to experience success and become more confident through non-competitive activities and diverse opportunities to succeed.

4 5

PROVIDE DOWNTIME

While your child may attend a camp where they know some children from their school, it is important for the program to offer downtime where your child can learn to interact with new friends and learn to socialize.

INTERACT WITH POSITIVE ROLE MODELS

The opportunity to interact with positive role models is a great opportunity to develop skills that will allow them to interact with adults that will become role models for them. Consider a provider that understands the benefits of providing children with positive role models that have time to listen, talk and reflect on learning adventures. Ask about the credentials of the summer school counselor of the program. In summary, selecting the right summer camp for your child offers great benefits besides having fun that include the opportunity for children to learn to work together, make intelligent choices, take responsibility, gain confidence, develop creative skills, and build independence.

Marnie Forestieri-Gomez is the founder and Chief Learning Officer of Amazing Explorers Academy, a next Generation School for the digital generation. Marnie holds a BS in Business Administration, a Child Development Associate, and a Director's credential.

HATS MAY CO NCEAL, AS WELL AS REVEAL A LOT A B OU T T H E P E R SO N WEA R ING THE HAT, AND THE WORLD T H E Y L I VE I N. I N S A NFO R D, THE CITIZENS SHOW OFF TH EIR HAT T I T U D E G RACEFULLY AND WITH PRID E . Hats! Hats! Hats! Hats at the beach, hats at the races, hats on the riverboat, hats for the party, hats in the garden, hats at church, hats at ceremonies, hats at the baseball games, hats on babies in strollers. Sanford residents wear hats every day, everywhere, every year! Hats are here to stay. My grandfather, Charlie once said “If the clothes make the man, it’s his hat that says it all.” Not only do Sanford’s hat wearers have Hattitude, they bring Hatmosphere to any atmosphere in the room. Hats are worn for many reasons. For example, it’s all about the hats in the atmosphere when hosting a hat party or attending the Kentucky Derby, a baseball game or a wedding. Furthermore, there are Hategories worn around Sanford. For example, some hats are worn by hunters, while others may be worn to the beach, or for boating and sunbathing. We call these sun hats. Whatever the social function, if everyone is wearing a hat for the occasion, then we call this Hattitude in the Hatmosphere. Fedoras, derby hats, bridal veils, baseball caps, and anything else they can think of, adorn the heads of the citizens of Sanford. No matter the time or place the hats are worn, the message seems to be the same, “put on a hat before you face the day, and things will just go better, no matter the weather!” Citizens in Sanford just don’t simply wear a hat, they wear their hats with HATTITUDE! So if you plan to stop by Sanford, don’t forget your hat. No matter what it is—wear it with joy and pride!

COMPTON A D RE A ME R W I T H C O U R AG E PERL A B. CROSBY

When it comes to dreamers, Peyton Compton has it all. This eleven-year-old phenomenon plays hockey, models on the side, performs in print and television advertising, and has earned a Black Belt in Krav Maga Mixed Martial Arts. Peyton also plays guitar, piano, and drums and is a girl scout on top of all that. Most adults don’t have a resume as memorable and chock-full as hers. This extraordinary young lady, born on August 17, 2005 at Winnie Palmer Hospital in Orlando, Florida, has lived in Historic Downtown Sanford her entire life. She is the child of Richard and Amy Compton and is an honor roll student at All Souls Catholic School. Peyton’s mother, Amy Compton, passed away on January 20, 2014 of cancer. Amy was an amazing mother to Peyton during the short 8 years they had together. Amy was able to homeschool Peyton all the way up to the end and always helped her daughter to be the best she could be. Amy was the one that led the charge to expose Peyton to so many activities. In fact, after attending a birthday party in Maitland, when Peyton expressed an interest in playing hockey, Amy signed her up for a class called “Learn to Play” right then and there. Peyton has taken her mother’s guidance to heart and has lived life to the fullest. She went on to play as a member of the OYHA Junior Knights Boys travel hockey team and won countless “player of the game awards,” both on the boy’s team and on the Lady Vipers. She remembers her mother fondly and to this day, she wears a decal with her mom’s initials, APC, on the back of her helmet. She also wears the number 22 on her jersey for her mom’s birthday. Although she excels at high contact sports, Peyton is one of the most kind and gentle children around. She’s always there to help the other kids. Young or old, experienced or not, it doesn’t matter to Peyton. She is quick with a kind word and a reassuring smile. Peyton is also very active in her community and volunteers to work with the newbies in the same beginners skating classes that she once did many years ago when her mother enrolled her. As yet another tribute to her late mother, Peyton created the Amy P. Compton Scholarship at the RDV Ice Den in Maitland, Florida. She created this scholarship for the kids. In her own words: “Ice hockey is such an expensive sport that some kids at the rink can’t afford the cost of the equipment on top of the league fees. The scholarship is to help parents purchase new helmets and skates which are critical pieces of equipment. These are hundreds of dollars each.” Peyton truly has captured the spirit of her mother and she expresses that spirit in everything she does. This summer, she will be taking the helmet and jersey to Finland to play hockey. Peyton Compton—winner of the 2016 Disney Dreamer and Doer Award for fifth grade (representing Lake, Orange, Seminole, Osceola and Polk counties in Central Florida)—is an amazing young woman and a credit to her mother, her family, and her community. 8 STEPS to

BECOMING

A BETTER PERSON DR . MIGUEL A . GONZ ÁLE Z , L MF T, MHS, MS*

IN BUSINESS & INDUSTRY THERE IS A BELIEF THAT THERE IS ALWAYS ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENT and I don’t remember ever meeting anyone who did not want to become a better person. However, wanting to be a better person and actually choosing to be a better person are two different things. Becoming a better person requires that we make significant changes in our lives and the way we relate to others, let go of negative and unproductive habits and adopt a different outlook on life. If you reached this sentence, it is no coincidence that this article has attracted your attention; please read on and see if you are ready to choose to be better!

1. SMILE

A smile can change a situation for the better, as it has an impact on people’s attitude toward you. If anything, a smile conveys a sense of friendliness, caring, is non-threatening, and it shows a willingness to engage cordially and peacefully. Just think about how you would like to be received, with a frown or with a smile, and it takes less of an effort and fewer muscles to smile than to frown. Give smiling a try and you’ll find yourself a much happier person at the end of the day.

AND THINK BEFORE YOU SPEAK, 2. STOP IN THAT ORDER

Your words and actions have a positive or negative impact on the people around you—family members, friends, or simply total strangers. Just as you affect them, they impact others, and the ripple effect spreads. The most effective way to prevent hurting other people is to think of the ramifications of your words. Most times, there are non-aggressive, non-negative ways to deal with almost any issue. Words often hurt more than anything else. Do you really need to say something hurtful? How would you feel if it were said to you or about you? When you’re upset, does it really help you feel better if you lash out with your own hurtful expressions? Stop, think and speak.

29

3. A LIFE WELL LIVED…

Serving others has its own rewards, not only for the person receiving the help but also for you. Altruism has its emotional recompenses. It helps you grow socially and emotionally, as you begin understanding the needs of others and the difference you can make in the world by becoming a better person. It is well known that people who struggle with self-esteem/concept issues and fragile self-identities experience emotional growth from serving others. A stronger sense of self emanates from helping others than from having material possessions.

4. USE AND SHARE YOUR GIFTS

We all have strengths which frequently are not easy for us to recognize. Most commonly, we can write a long list of our weaknesses while struggling to find our strengths. If you think you are a good listener and can come up with ways to help people solve problems, share that gift; use it to improve the life of others as well as your own. If you are a good cartoonist, share it with someone—visit a children’s hospital and draw portraits for them. Otherwise your talent serves no purpose. However, remember that a strength (or talent) is not in any way a trait of perfection or superiority over others.

CHOOSE TO BE BE TTE R

YOUR WEAKNESSES—TURN 5. RECOGNIZE THEM INTO STRENGTHS

Recognizing your weaknesses is the most important step toward becoming a better person but striving to become a better person is not the same as pursuing perfectionism. Being perfect cannot be the goal because it will lead to a life-long pursuit of your own tail—and believe me, you’ll never catch it. The effort of trying to become a better person is rewarding alone and will make a difference. To recognize your weaknesses is also to note areas that could be turned into strengths, which could lead to getting you closer to becoming the person you have chosen to be. Try not to be destructively self-critical in this process to the point of being left emotionally depleted and with a sense of hopelessness. Strive to achieve small realistic goals, focusing on one goal at a time. If you have problems recognizing your weaknesses, ask a friend or family member to help you identify them. Be patient. Change, of any kind, takes time. Keep focused and remember the ultimate goal is to become a better person.

BETTER CARE OF 6. TAKE YOURSELF—MENTALLY & PHYSICALLY

Modern life frequently leaves us no time to focus on our own well-being. Often times our days are spent doing so much for others, there is not any time left for ourselves. With an obesity problem sweeping the country, with all its potential devastating consequences, it is important to take care of our bodies, our temples. But it cannot end there. We must also take care of our emotional health. Have fun in life, share with

family and friends, seek outlets to reduce stress and confront negative thinking. Pursue professional help when you cannot solve problems on your own or talk to people in your life that you trust. Caring for yourself shows self-love and respect and when you take care of yourself, you have so much more to give to others.

7.

BE GRATEFUL AND SHOW IT.

It is not possible to be 100% self-sufficient. There are always needs that are met with or through others. It’s wrong yet easy to take others for granted. The fast pace of our lives, the ever present technologies and our own personal issues can lead to ignoring how important someone like a spouse or a relative can be in our lives. Recognizing what others do for us or what others do well for others and for society is important. Never miss an opportunity to say thank you or to praise someone for a job well done. After all, wouldn’t we like to be treated the same way?

8. EXPLORE YOUR FAITH/SPIRITUALITY

It is well known that faith can serve to mediate stress and mental illness. Faith helps believers remain hopeful and positive in order to navigate through the choppy waters and tough times in their lives. If you feel connected to others by faith, find time to practice and enhance it, and to share it with like-minded people. Proselytizing is not what is suggested here, but try to find comfort in the presence of others. Human beings are social beings and social interaction keeps us healthy!
