Once everyone is up to speed, grab your paddle and head out on the water in your 2-person sea kayak! Enjoy some time to dabble in the shallow water to get comfortable steering and paddling before setting out on your island exploration.

The lush forests of Alaska are home to native brown bears, however, over the years their territory has been reduced. The loss of forest has led to orphaned cubs and injured bears. At Fortress of the Bear an enthusiastic team of naturalists have dedicated their lives to the care and rehabilitation of bears in need. Here, you will witness the passion and expertise of the naturalists as they lead you through the fortress. Get within 25 feet of Alaska brown bears in their naturalized habitats at the fortress. While here, you will observe three populations of bears from the safety of a covered viewing platform, as an experienced naturalist explains their stories, mannerisms, and way of life in captivity.
