EXPLORE AN AMERICAN SUCCESS STORY
To start off our day we will head to the John Deere Pavilion in Moline, Illinois. Here we will witness both modern-day and concept machines in hands-on displays and exhibits. Learn about how John Deere, the blacksmith, used his skill to change farming forever, and how John Deere equipment has changed the landscape of farm work as we hear stories from farm owners and operators.
ENJOY A FARM-TO-TABLE LUNCH
We will then make our way to Cinnamon Ridge, a family-owned and operated farm located in the small Iowa town of Donahue. Owners John and Joan Maxwell will show you the true meaning of farm-to-table as they invite us into their own personal home for a meal made up of all local ingredients, grown and raised on the farm. Enjoy an exclusive and scrumptious lunch complete with meats, veggies, breads and more!
GUIDED TOUR OF CINNAMON RIDGE WITH DEMONSTRATIONS
With our bellies full, we will now see how it’s done as John and Joan begin a presentation highlighting the modern technological advancements that have enabled the Maxwells to make strides in modern American farming. After the presentation, we will head outside to see these techniques in action!
EXPERIENCE A ROBOTIC DAIRY BARN
On a robotic dairy tour, observe as robots manage over 250 Jersey dairy cows and gain an understanding of the process that milk goes through to get from the cow to the store – but don’t worry, we will be sure to stay out of the mud!
PICK UP A TASTY TREAT AT THE COUNTRY CUPBOARD
Before we depart Cinnamon Ridge, we will pay a visit to the Country Cupboard, a 24/7 farm store the Maxwell family has opened that operates on the “honor system.” Take some time to explore the shop and be sure to bring cash so you can take a delicious treat back to the vessel.
