Contents The Color of the SKY in My World Spring is a Verb in Saskatchewan. It is a time for taking action, making plans and getting organized. Spring time is when we clean out the closets, and clear out the cobwebs of our minds, when we leave behind the coulda, woulda, shoulda’s of the past and move forward. Spring is about new beginnings, possibility and second chances.
01
Spring is an exciting time of year for me as I am a tried and true “possible-est”. I believe in looking forward and I love change. In my past life, before becoming an entrepreneur, I helped large organizations plan for the future and write about it so that others could follow.
02
In June 2011, I left that world, and formed Lynear Thinking to help the private sector grow through strategy and communications. In October 2012, SKY Magazine became a part of Lynear Thinking, marrying my love for strategy and story telling. As this issue was taking shape, people shared with me their business plans, their challenges and their hopes for 2013. I feel honoured to tell their story in SKY Magazine and help promote their businesses, products and services. SKY is about unlimited possibility. Some people sit and look at the horizon. Others reach out and touch it. The entrepreneurs on the pages of SKY Magazine are those people.

Men’s
Fashion: A fusion of function and art
A
t the turn of the century, people who made or sold clothes were referred to as a clothier, a cloathesman or a clothman.
Fast forward to 2013, to Trino’s Men’s Wear, a red carpet retail experience that is inspired by what makes men look and feel good, delivered with an artistic touch. I sell men’s clothes that look and feel good, says owner Trina Fader. Since opening her doors in 2007, Trina received a Paragon Award for new business in 2008, and secured her place in the competitive and time-honored business of men’s fashion. Now six years later, she looks forward with a sense of satisfaction and accomplishment. It’s no wonder that Trina is successful in this business traditionally dominated by men. She takes on challenges with gusto and determination. When she started Trino’s, she was a single mother working and pouring all of her own resources into creating this vision of a men’s wear store that would redefine men’s fashion experience. “I did this all myself with some help from family and friends,” she says, gesturing to her perfectly manicured showroom. “We assembled every single rack and shelf in this store. We painted the walls, installed the baseboards, drilled the holes and built every single rack. I designed and installed the window coverings to ensure that suits would not be bleached by sunlight.” “Before I became Trino’s, I was an artist, painter and sculptor. Every day I look at this shop as my canvas. I am its artist. I choose the colors, textures and styles to create a memorable experience for my customers.” Trina takes the business of men’s fashion personally, because she understands that often times shopping for clothes is challenging for men. “Women are very self-sufficient shoppers. Men sometimes need some extra help, especially if they don’t have someone to shop with them. The number of women’s stores still outnumber men’s fashion stores, so we are filling an important niche in the market place”. “The Trino’s shopping experience appeals to men because the process is enjoyable for them. They want to look good and we provide advice about what looks good.” “We believe that the clothes should reflect our customer’s personality, what he does for a living, and how he expresses himself through fashion. We can outfit men for the boardroom, the baseball field and the night club.” “Men receive a red carpet experience at Trino’s in a friendly atmosphere. We are quick and painless. We offer complementary tailoring, client cards and a guarantee that our customer looks his best.”
“Men can be insecure about the clothes they wear and how they look in the same way that women can. We want to be sure they are dressed in clothes that they feel good wearing and that they know looks good.” “Our clients appreciate our honesty. We will offer opinions on how things are fitting or not fitting. We enjoy seeing them light up when they add a pop of color in a shirt or tie.” Trino’s golden rule is to not sell for the sake of selling. “Each client is a walking testimonial of our experience so we never take for granted the importance of treating each and every person with respect.” “Once we have clothed a man, we record sizes and specific information that helps improve the process the next time we have an opportunity to serve him. Often times, the women in their lives will come to Trino’s to shop, and we know exactly what works and what doesn’t.” “Beyond fashion, we know there is an emotional connection between the
clothes we wear and steps we take in our lives. As women, we tend to take the time for hair, makeup, and ensuring we have the perfect outfit and shoes.” “Men like to look and feel good too. They want to have the perfectly fitted suit for that special occasion, like graduations, weddings, family occasions and formal events.” “As a mother of two boys, I completely understand the frustration of shopping for them, especially at the important times in their lives when they put on their first suit, like graduation.” Graduation can be costly. Trino’s annual grad promotion helps with the additional costs of graduation. Buy a suit shirt and tie and receive 20% off alterations complimentary. “No matter the occasion, we have you covered from head to toe.” Trino’s Men’s Wear 2445 Quance Street East, Regina 306.522.4667 www.trinosmenswear.com Like us on facebook | @trinosmenswear

Interesting People and the Things They Do
Michelle Strawford:
She is What
Women
Want By Ly nn A rmstr ong
“This is your time to shine. We are experiencing the best economy we have ever seen in this province. Step outside of your brick and mortar. Show the world what you’ve got.” Michelle Strawford is a relentless entrepreneur and producer of the show, What Women Want, Saskatchewan’s premier women’s event. From March 15 – 17, the Conexus Art Centre will be filled with 200 booths of businesses, food and entertainment where thousands of people will be in search of the answer to the question: what do women want? “This show is powerful. Women are the greatest influencers of all buying decisions. Women own the bottom line.” What Women Want is borne out of a desire to help entrepreneurs succeed and to give women what they want, says Michelle. “Raised in an entrepreneurial family, I remember watching my parents run their own businesses. I learned that success comes to those who believe in their business with relentless enthusiasm, integrity and who know how and when to take risks so the business can grow.”
These three days may just change the course of your business!” – Michelle Strawford, Producer, What Women Want
Acting on her entrepreneurial instinct, she created fotobella, a photography company and Bella Chic, a pop up women’s accessories store with her good friend Sharon Hawcutt. They wanted to create a women’s trade show that would celebrate women in business. That idea grew into What Women Want. The What Women Want Show delivers an insightful, intelligent experience that is inspired by women, for women. This three-day experience is filled with fashion shows, cooking classes, dancing, clairvoyant readings, and stories of hope from the eight-time cancer survivor Dionne Warner. Both floors of the Conexus Art Centre in Regina will be filled with boutique shops and services. Shoppers can have a glass of wine in the lounge, shop in new boutiques, dance, be photographed on the red carpet, celebrate at the after party and win prize packages. This year, the first ever Man Cave will make an appearance. What Women Want also reaches out to women in need. To date over $40,000 has been raised for local charities through What Women Want and Bella Chic. This year What Women Want is proud to once again support the Leader-Post Christmas Cheer fund focused on enabling
local shelters to enhance the programs and services available to women and children fleeing domestic violence. What Women Want exceeds all expectations on a promotional basis, says Michelle. “Our budget for marketing exceeds any other in the market. We go out of our way to bring customers to our participants. As our print sponsor, the Leader Post creates a 16-page supplement. Through SKY Magazine, we are reaching another 32,000 households. Our media partners are promoting the show. We are on Facebook and Twitter. We want everyone to come to What Women Want for the most exciting three days of the year.” Expanding on the What Women Want experience, Michelle introduced S3 Style|Shopping|Spirits on October 13, 2012. This first ever event proved to be a huge success growing into a two-day affair that will take place September 13-14, 2013 in Regina and November 8-9, 2013 in Saskatoon. “I believe there is no risk is doing something different. But there is risk is never changing and never taking chances. What Women Want is about creating a place for businesses to connect with customers who may never walk into their store otherwise or know about their product or service.” “Creating positive relationships with businesses, delivering on promises, integrity in business practices and excellent detailed project management are necessary to succeed,” says Michelle. “What Women Want brings together those who live their dreams. We are the only show by women, for women, about women. We are the real thing.” What Women Want March 15 – 17, 2013 Conexus Arts Centre | Tickets $10 www.whatwomewant.ca whatwomenwantregina@sasktel.net WhatWomenWant | @WhatWomenWant Thank you to Pure Clothing Co. for providing Michelle’s suit and Lusso Shoe Lounge for Michelle’s shoes.
An Introduction to Income Segregated funds Planning ahead for retirement is about more than saving money. In addition to building savings, you need to ensure you can fund your future income needs and that you will not outlive your nest egg. With improved health care and longer life expectancy this could be more than 30 years. Recent stock market volatility has taken a toll on the retirement plans of many Canadians. However, there are investments available that offer a secure, guaranteed income stream for life, so you can enjoy your retirement with peace of mind, AND allow you to grow your investments as the market recovers. Income Segregated Funds are designed to address these risks with a secure, guaranteed lifelong income stream, death benefit, potential for capital growth, diversification and flexibility. They offer the features of both insurance and investment products. They provide a payout feature similar to a traditional annuity, but with the potential for growth from personally selected underlying investments. During pre-retirement and retirement years, you have the ability to build and rebalance your own portfolio from a wide selection of underlying investments.
Once you reach retirement, your Income Segregated Fund will provide you with a lifelong income stream. You will maintain access to the invested capital (until the capital is depleted by changes in market value or withdrawals), but you are guaranteed an income stream that will not decrease and will last the duration of your life, regardless of market performance. Prudent financial management does not end at retirement. To discuss how you can insure your retirement income without giving up control of you hard earned assets, or to request a brochure, please call Barbara March-Burwell at 306-777-0543. This article is provided by Barbara March-Burwell, an Insurance Representative of RBC Wealth Management Financial Services Inc. (“RBC WM FS”). A description of the key features of segregated funds is contained in the Information Folder, a detailed document prepared by the insurer. Subject to any applicable death and maturity guarantee, any part of the premium or other amount allocated to a segregated fund is invested at the risk of the contract holder and may increase or decrease in value according to the fluctuations in the market value of the assets in the segregated fund.

Horse Sense Blog: Dreaming green and good governance By Lor e l e i Joh n s
It is said that horses love to dream. I imagine my horse, Red, dreaming of warm spring days when he can move freely in a sun filled green pasture with the herd. Even in the world of horses, dreaming leads to action. Dreaming about good governance also leads to action. As winter turns to spring, Not for Profit Boards turn their minds to the most up-to-date information to fulfill their stewardship role. The most recent change impacting NPOs is the implementation of new accounting standards for this industry. In accounting lingo it is called CICA Handbook Part III, Accounting Standards for not-forprofit organizations. These standards are effective for fiscal years starting on or after January 1, 2012. Recently, I attended a course on these new standards. It is the Board’s responsibility to learn and understand these new standards. Training must be provided to volunteers, management and staff. Communication to the users of your financial statements will result in more disclosure in the notes to the financial statements. Here are some of the significant changes that may impact your organization: 3 You will have a transition Balance Sheet with three columns; 3 There are standards specifically for Contribution Revenue; 3 Financial Instrument notes include detailed analysis of risks, i.e. credit risk, liquidity risk, market risk, currency risk, interest rate risk and other risk exposures; 3 Cash Flow statements are now always required; and 3 All outstanding government remittances must be disclosed in the notes. Contact your local United Way office for workshops offered by community minded accountants. It is low cost and the presenters are very knowledgeable. Other educational options available include courses, readings, webinars provided by the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants (CICA). Check my website www.lrjca.com for resource links. Once you have a base line of knowledge, get in touch with your accountant for a discussion on how these standards specifically impact your NPO. I believe that up-to-date fiduciary knowledge will lead you to greener pastures, just like Red and I will experience this spring. Lorelei will be a presenter at an April 4, 2013 United Way Regina workshop, entitled “Internal Controls for Smaller NPOs”. If this is a topic you are interested in, look for this workshop announcement on United Way Regina’s website; www.unitedwayregina.ca/investments/workshops.
BABY STEPS by Ruth Pradzynski
Have you ever tried something new and then been petrified with the fear of failure? We all have. Often times, fear stops us from trying new things - from becoming our best self. It is so much easier to go on doing what we’ve always been able to do very well, than it is to step out and try something new that we may do poorly or is uncomfortable. I think babies are the most courageous people in the world. Everything is new to them. Everything is an effort. But they don’t stop. They don’t give up. They don’t judge and worry about doing a poor job. Not at all. They persevere. Have you ever watched a baby learn to walk? As they try this new skill, they fall down. Then they get up and try again and again, until, finally, they are able to achieve a few steps. A sense of pride and accomplishment as they take those first steps radiates from their whole body. Then they keep on working at their new skill, until they become accomplished walkers, and even runners. Sometimes I am afraid to try new things, like we all are. I wonder when and how did we lose that chutzpa that we were born with? When and how did we decide to give up, and settle for mediocrity? When did we become afraid? As we move into spring, the season of renewal, let’s take a dare together. I dare you to do that thing that you’ve always intended to do, but have been putting off due to fear. One of the things I see people putting off is making an estate plan. Nobody likes to think about this because the situation surrounding an estate plan is not pleasant. There is always lots of time to get it done, we tell ourselves. We’re still young – there’s lots of years left. Often times people come to see me about an estate plan when someone close to them passes suddenly, and was unprepared, leaving the family to cope with the situation in a stressful and emotional time. At that point, they understand the importance of being prepared. Spring is a time to get ahead of things. To plan for the future. Spring is a time of action. I dare you. Pick something you’ve always wanted to do, but were afraid you’d do badly. Do it anyway. I will too.

Spring Cleaning and Bookkeeping Tips for Business Springtime is when entrepreneurs are busy preparing their last years’ books and saying “I have to get a better system.” Here are some tips to easily organize your books. 3 Review bank statements and credit card statements. Comparing the G/L to the bank statement, you are verifying that funds intended for the bank are correct. Embezzlement is a serious issue that is prevented by accurately reconciling bank statements.

3 Match receipts to your bank statement or credit card statement, noting missing receipts on the statement. 3 Use expense reports if you pay with cash and create an expense report weekly or monthly. This becomes one entry into the bookkeeping system and the company writes you a reimbursement cheque. 3 Record business trips, lunches, coffee dates and any other events that are paid for through company funds. Write down who you met with and why on the back of receipts. This can help substantiate items for your tax records should you be audited. 3 Keep your accounts receivable current. Assign someone in your organization to be responsible for tracking . Put a process in place for issuing statements, late payment reminders, calling for payment or assigning finance charges. Every late payment is an interest-free loan to the client and this hurts your cash flow. 3 Set up a separate bank account for tax payments. If you are collecting GST or PST from your clients, set up a separate bank account and as you complete your month end and know what these amounts are going to be, transfer those dollars to the special account. When the deadline comes to pay these bills, you have the money set aside.

3 Have a storage box to keep all records for the tax year, including bills, invoices, bank statements, credit card statements, government remittances (PST, GST and payroll) . 3 If you have a computerized bookkeeping system, make a backup of your bookkeeping file. Keeping all of the records together will make the job easier in case you are asked to submit them for an audit. 3 Consider document management and scanning practices to retain electronic copies of your receipts. Checks n Balances has systems in place for clients to scan their documents and upload them to our terminal servers. At the end of the fiscal year of a company, the documents can be burned to a CD for storage. 3 Educate yourself with regards to the tax rules for your industry. Sask Finance publishes bulletins for the PST rules for every imaginable industry. There is information on the CRA site for GST or Payroll. Checks ‘n’ Balances Business Services Inc. offers cloud services to our clients, training services or we can prepare your bookkeeping and payroll needs.

STEEPTIPS
In the season of spring and all things Zen, take your favourite tea to go. Put your tea in the cup and fill with water. Fasten the lid and let the tea steep on the go. Green Tea: The actual leaf is dried and not allowed to oxidize, so green tea resembles the actual leaf. It is rich in polyphenol, detoxifying properties and vitamin C. Green tea has a distinct taste and contains less caffeine than black tea. Steep from 1-2 minutes, but not with boiling water as over steeping or water that is too hot will leave the tea bitter. Rooibos: Many people call it the red tea. Leaves are fermented once picked, giving it that beautiful red color. Rooibus has more antioxidants than green tea and is a very forgiving tea. Rooibus is not from the tea plant and contains no caffeine. It is excellent cold or hot and is easily flavoured. Use boiling water steep for 5 minutes. If you over steep Rooibus, it will not become bitter. Fruit Tea: This tea contains no tea and no caffeine. It is high in vitamin C as it full of dried fruits. Use boiling water. Steep for 5-10 minutes. You may need to add sugar, as some fruit teas can be tart. Cuppa T 2732 13th Avenue, Regina 306.352.4411 www.cuppatteas.com

Shopping at Verve in the Cathedral area is one of my favorite places. I am pleased to be the first to participate in Verve’s campaign for 2013. I love the Soya Concept tank, paisley shirt and Press sweater. The colors are springy and the fabrics flow. Yoga jeans are so comfortable, and they look good! Room with a View These Sharpnose Gobies photographed in Bonaire, Dutch Caribbean, are about half the size of q-tip. I had spotted them on the coral head and noticed occasionally one would enter the small opening in the coral. With the red tube worm poking out from the same opening I hoped to time my shot for one of the tiny fish peeking out of the coral opening. My patience paid off as I captured both fish peeking out of the opening at the same time. Todd Mintz is a multi-award winning Canadian Freelance photographer from Regina, Saskatchewan. From Burgers to Billboards and Beyond: The story of how a burger baron’s son is changing the sky. James McDonnell began with an idea to sell burgers and fries at his family-owned restaurant, the Burger Baron, in Regina. He installed a digital billboard to improve marketing for the restaurant and create an additional revenue stream. The idea mushroomed as four more sign owners came to the table. Todd Mintz, Reg Howard, Rob Thomson, Jason Degelman and James McDonnell now share a common vision to develop a digital billboard network. ABOVE James McDonnell, Lorne Piett, Kelly Forsberg, Drew Renwick, Chris Pagan, Gabe Rosescu
James is the President and CEO of Canadian Digital Network, a Saskatchewan based digital placement company with a unique networked approach to digital advertising wherever the network exists. “We strive to revolutionize the way the billboard industry works. Our goal is to be Saskatchewan’s dominant player in digital media”. The CDN approach is a game changer in the digital signage business. Individual sign owners come together to share their assets, create a strategically connected advertising system and generate returns based on the performance of the system.” “We invited people who model our principles of integrity, commitment and transparency to join the network. In December 2012, we acquired Digital Skies, becoming the largest digital billboard
company in the province that provides in venue and outdoor digital billboards. CDN has 60 locations in Regina, Saskatoon, Moose Jaw, Estevan, Weyburn, Yorkton, Swift Current and other rural markets.” Owning a sign is a business unto itself. First there is the cost of buying the sign, which can be up to $250,000, then there is set up and maintenance. Once the sign is up and running, it needs content, so the owner then must become adept at selling advertising on their sign, managing relationships and contracts, and tracking performance. The CDN approach goes beyond creating the network. They also serve the network. “When the sign is fully running with paid advertising, it is a strong revenue stream”. “Once a sign owner joins the network, our CDN team goes to work for them taking care of sales, production, graphics, diagnostics and logistics on behalf of the network. With the Juno’s coming, as well as Grey Cup later this year, we are anticipating the skies will be lit up. Give us a call to get your name up in lights. Let there be fashion. Checks, plaids and houndstooth, fur, leather, pleather, plastic. It’s hard to say what designers are dreaming for their 2013 Fall / Winter collections. But they will be bringing them to the catwalk during Saskatchewan Fashion Week from May 9 – 11 in City Square Plaza in downtown Regina. Original collections and award winning hairstyling and makeup artistry will be showcased as national media, business leaders and lovers of fashion come to experience a runway exhibition of fashion and custom motion design. “We expect to entertain more than 2,000 people in two days,” says Melissa Fiacco, a self-proclaimed lover of all things fashionable who volunteers her time and expertise to help get the word out about Saskatchewan Fashion Week. Major cities host fashion weeks to show off their fashion industry and to provide fashion lovers and onlookers with a glimpse of what we might be wearing. In 2012, Saskatchewan joined he ranks of great fashion cities like Paris, Milan, New York, Toronto, Vancouver, and Montreal with the launch of its first Fashion Week in Regina.

The Entrepreneurs of the SKY
Walker Group of Companies Inside the Heart and Mind of a CEO By Lyn n M . Arm s t r ong
Good leaders create good teams, bring out the best in people and create sustainable futures. Milt Walker is such a CEO. He is a people’s CEO who is creating a legacy organization that will be sustainable and responsive to the market as it evolves. Milt Walker is the founder, President and CEO of the Walker Group of Companies, which includes Walker Projects Inc. and the Century West Construction Group. This uniquely organized company includes two engineering divisions, a commercial construction division, a residential construction division and a renovation division. The Walker Group brings together more than 100 professionals, technologists, engineers, accountants, trades people, administrators, and sales professionals. Many are under the age of 30. His staff describes him as an engineer with a heart. Milt’s vision is the result of 40 years of learning through economically challenging times of double digit interest rates and job scarcity, large scale projects such as Hill Tower 2, Crown Life, Regina Centre Crossing, and the proposed Winnipeg Arena to name a few. “I began to see that there was more to construction than grade beams, piles and roofs and that a broader perspective was needed. Being the best structural engineer was not enough. Having the ability to lead people in the decision making process and manage the political and business environment wins at the end of the day.
I knew that if we could do that well, the work would come. We combined project management and structural engineering to help us look at the job from the customer’s perspective.”
“Creating the right mix of people and personalities and establishing a culture of working together is what I set out to do.” “Engineers and the trades do not typically work under the same roof. Creating the right mix of people and personalities and establishing a culture of working together is what I set out to do.” The quality of the project manager is the key, says Milt. “Sometimes the owner is tugging at the wheel of the project. The project manager must have the ability to keep the project on track. The people who can lead and manage change are the people who win in the end because that’s where we are going as an industry.” “It is critical to manage multiple people in the process. Seeing the issues before they become barriers and dealing with them in a timely and efficient manner is the key to keeping projects on track. We see

this in large commercial projects, as well as smaller projects. If someone was not properly consulted and included in the process, inevitably the outcome will be unsatisfactory. If what the client wanted was a pancake house, and the result is a pizza stand, nobody is happy.” “People make all the difference. Having the right people at all levels of the company is the most important thing. Each person who works here is exactly the person we want. We are a young company, with many of the staff hired directly out of university and SIAST. Our management team is built to lead, mentor and teach. We have created a culture of working together as engineers, construction experts, and trades, with a strong professional and administrative team. We are very proud of that and I am very proud of each and every one of them.” “Being a leader is the best job in the world to me. There is nothing more satisfying than seeing someone grow both personally and professionally. I am inspired every day by the bright lights of our team. Our ‘why’ is to build the future with innovation, passion and a superior customer experience. Our ‘how’ is to be the best place to work, do the best projects, have the best people and be reasonably profitable. Our bottom line is to be the best place to work.”
The Renovator’s Renovator Century West Renovations: Bruce Kaytor
Bruce had just left the home of a family whose roof just caved in. He was noticeably shaken by the ordeal, feeling empathy for this mother whose world literally came down on her. The family was forced to move out of the house immediately. “This is something that I never get used to. Seeing someone devastated. I do my best to give them the information they need
to move ahead. I was able to say I can have an engineer at her home tomorrow morning. Milt himself came to the house with Jenn to assess the situation. The insurance forms are being filled out now.” Bruce has over 25 years in the renovation and restoration industry. He leads the Century West Renovation division, which handles all types of jobs including insurance claims. Renovation customers love their homes, their neighborhoods and their back yards but they want change. I advise them to get a designer involved, get drawings and make choices about materials. Once I have a plan in place, we go to town, and we get it done.” “I know what’s cooking. I know the subcontractors. We have such a fully diversified team of construction professionals here. There is no other place that can do this.” We take care of business here. Construction is full of follies, despite what you might see on HGTV. The main thing is taking care of it. There is never any hesitation to deal with a situation, no matter how unpleasant it can be.” Our commitment is to deliver. Once we start, we are going to finish. We make it as easy as possible for the owner, and we get it done.
A Mandate to be the Very Best Century West Construction: Paul Gregory, Jordan Walker
Paul Gregory is a seasoned construction professional. Jordan Walker is a former hockey player with a head for business. Together, Paul and Jordan lead the Century West Construction division with a mandate to build the very best.
Paul has been with Milt since the beginning after he “swam upstream” from Alberta in the mid 1990’s where he was working. “Construction is a competitive business. It can be adversarial if the engineers and construction trades do not get along, or if the client’s wants and needs are not part of the planning process. Especially if in the bidding process, the lowest price gets the deal and important things are left out.” “We are realistic, honest and organized. Our number one priority is understanding and delivering the construction process from the perspective of our client. We want to give them their dream,” says Paul.
We’ve come a long way from the small house on Smith Street, remembers Amanda. Amanda leads a team of design technologists, a sales team, liaises with trades and suppliers and works directly with designers to develop floor plans, research products and manage home projects. “Our team works together. Our design technologists will do the plans and they are part of the project team. Our sales people don’t just sell the house. They actively get involved. That way, we never lose sight of the owner’s vision.”
“We believe in a team approach to the construction process, which is giving the client value added engineering and construction and offering expertise versus taking what an architect or engineer designed and try to build it for a lower price.
“The key to owner happiness is keeping the homeowner involved
We work as a team, managing the process from the beginning to the end. This includes the sale, creating the drawings, getting permits, building the project or renovating it. We manage the issues ensuring a successful outcome,” adds Jordan.

THE MAKING OF
THE
SPRING SKY
It
was a magical. Shooting the cover of the Spring SKY Magazine was truly a fusion of functionality and art. Our goal was to create a visage that would embody the courage and creativity that represents the gutsy glamour that is our cover-preneur, Trina Fader, owner of Trino’s Men’s Wear. To accomplish the vintage, starlet effect, Greg Huszar and assistant Jason Edwards photographed Trina in studio through the ground glass on the back of a Graflex Crown Graphic press camera. Graflex press cameras similar to this one were the press photographer’s standard tool from the mid 30s up until the early 70s.
