To the Rescue! Peter Wallerstein spends nearly every day on the beaches of California, but he’s not a surfer or a lifeguard. In fact, he rarely goes into the ocean. Peter rescues marine animals like dolphins and sea lions. He works for Marine Animal Rescue (MAR). MAR rescues animals from beaches. The animals sometimes can’t find food and are weak or sick. Most often, though, the animals are trapped in a net or a fishing line. During a rescue, Peter gently moves the animal into a cage. He takes the animal to a marine life care center for treatment and when it is well the center releases the animal back into the ocean. MAR’s office is a small trailer on a beach and Peter is the only employee. At night, Peter sleeps with his cell phone on to take calls from the coastguard and concerned people about sea animals that need help. When he wakes up in the morning, he immediately makes a phone call to the care center to check on the latest rescued animals. Sometimes, he doesn’t even have time for breakfast before the first call of the day comes in. When it does, Peter along with Pumpkin, his dog, quickly jump into the rescue truck and are on their way. Every year, Peter rescues hundreds of animals. He works together with the police, and the coastguard. He also teaches lifeguards and volunteers about marine rescues. Saving sea animals is all Peter thinks about. For him, each rescue makes a difference!

I want to say each and every fraction second of our lives we FEEL the music. Music is not limited to a specific genre. With each heartbeat, I am bound to live music. I never go to bed without listening to music so as the case when I wake up (Alarm bell rings) The time in between is just filled with full of musical swing. Pretty much all day, every day. While I do my school, while I’m playing video games, while I write, while I clean. Music is a huge part of my life. Music is who I am. Music is one part of my life that never changes. One of the only aspects of me that never fades, never leaves, just stays. So, yeah, I listen to music a lot!!! I like music but I have no time to listen to it. I always have my cell phone but I am working all the time. So, I only have 1 hour for a break! during this hour I have lunch and I listen to music. This means I listen to music once a day. When I get home, I watch TV, I have dinner, and then I only have time to take a shower and go to sleep!

Do you know that watching TV or reading a book can change your mind? These leisure activities can change your mind in a different way, that is why is very important what kind of programs you watch. This is an influence for you, the way you make decisions the way you behave: We're all seekers of efficiency, relentlessly searching for shortcuts to achieve the same results: automating repetitive tasks, using tools and apps that make decisions for us, hacking tasks and processes. That even applies to reading. Don't have time to read a book? No problem. Just watch TV instead. But that doesn't mean that the benefits you get from watching TV are the same as from reading books. Many people think that books are good, while TV is bad. When you spend a day reading a book people think you're an intellectual, but when you spend a day watching your favorite show you're a couch potato. Similar to how candy gives you cavities and suntanning is bad for our skin, it's common knowledge that reading books is good for you. Reading increases your knowledge and makes you think. Watching television on the other hand kills off brain cells and can even lead to an early death. But why is that? Why can't watching TV be just as educational as reading a book? For example, does watching the show Game of Thrones lower your intelligence while reading the Song of Ice and Fire series do the exact opposite? After all, there are all sorts of books. Some good, some poorly written. The same applies to shows as well. Is the situation as simple as categorizing books as good and TV as bad? Many studies suggest that television affects children's verbal abilities and physical, mental, and emotional development. Researcher Takeuchi finds that the more TV the kids watch, parts of their brain are associated with higher arousal, and aggression levels become thicker. So, be careful with what you watch!!! page 17
