Would Ludovico Mares ever have imagined that over the course of 68 years his small factory in Rapallo would become the worldwide leader in the production and distribution of diving equipment? Mares was founded in 1949 by former Istrian diver Ludovico Mares, who served in the Austrian Navy during World War I. Mares quickly became a small industrial company with a continuous increase in sales and never an absence of ideas for new and improved products. As the passion for diving grew around the world in the late ‘60s, the company expanded into the European diving and snorkeling market. Between 1978 and 1982, Mares earned an undisputed place as the global market leader in fins: today nearly all diving and snorkeling fins are produced using plastic materials, according to the manufacturing process invented by Mares. The company also rose quickly to the top of the regulator market, becoming an uncontested leader as well. Today, Mares has a presence in over 80 countries around the world and is internationally recognized as the leading company in the manufacturing of diving products featuring only the best in cutting egde technology. Every solution Mares offers represents the forefront of today’s technology and is the result of the best in Italian design. OPB ∤ Optimized Pivoting Blade: Allows the blade to maintain an optimal angle throughout the kicking cycle, whereas traditional fins achieve this only during a small portion of the cycle. OPB produces a constant thrust, which minimizes fatigue and produces fluid movement through the water. CHANNEL THRUST: Soft longitudinal inserts allow a controlled deformation of the fin blade while kicking. This channel shape moves a greater amount of water resulting in more thrust for the same effort. MASKs & snorkels LIQUIDSKIN: Patented Technology. The exclusive Bi-Silicone technology uses two different types of silicone: a firmer portion for support structure and a softer portion for contact with your face. It is 45% softer for unparalleled comfort and 270% more elastic for a perfect fit. SUNRISE: The Sunrise masks are dedicated to the Asian market and wider faces because of the special geometry of the skirt. TRI-COMFORT: Small horizontal ribs between the frame and the skirt in the area around the nose. These ribs absorb and redistribute the pressure exerted by the frame onto the skirt, with a resulting increase in comfort. OPTICAL LENSES: Mares offers corrective lenses for most models. ACCESSORIES LIGHTS CONSISTENT LIGHT INTENSITY: An electronic voltage supply control of the LED ensures a consistent light for the entire rated burn time. MAGNETIC SWITCH: The external magnetic switch protects the light from flooding. High reliability ensured by the complete absence of o-ring. ADJUSTABLE FOCUS: The focus can be adjusted during the dive by a simple rotation. It allows for a change in the light beam between 12° and 75°.
HD Neoprene: Use of the micro bubble increases the density and prevents pinholes from penetrating through the materials. It reduces the thickness of the materials from traditional 7mm to 4mm and achieves light and compact fitting.
