Great North American Biking Trails. Exploring North American Biking Trails. If you are an adventurous person looking looking for ways to entertain your passion for mountain biking then biking tours are way to go. Exploring America on a mountain bike is an experience not to be missed. US trails offer comfortable accommodation for avid bikers like you. You can choose west or south between hilly tracks, rough trials or regularly visited mountain bike trials. It’s going to require some passion, endurance and skill. Different trials offer different challenges and that what make them remarkable for the dare devil type of adventurous mountain biker. Here, are some of the best mountain bike extravaganzas in North America. Sure, there are other great rides, but the ones below are both time-tested and well-defined and they have clear routes, maps, etc. Bend Oregon’s hosts pretty much every out-of-doors activity ever conceived, what most people are not aware of is this fact that this area is also the place to find a diverse array of great mountain bike trails. Surfaces range from old-growth & alpine forests to high wilderness canyons and fascinating lava rock formations. Quite a few rides can be reached right from town but a majority are situated just a short drive away. You’ll want to commit much of your spare time to the historical section including the Deschutes Brewery and the Baja Norte Restaurant, each of which offer fine, affordable meals. Accommodation at Bend Cascade Hostel is clean and affordable. After finishing this ride around Cultus Lake, you will feel as if your trip to this corner of the forest has been well rewarded. This loop alone is a good enough reason to plan a visit to this part of the country. Almost all of the ride is on single-track. The earliest section, Deer Lake Trail, takes you past Little Cultus Lake, then around the west flank of Cultus Mountain to Deer Lake. The trail here is suburb, having a easy tread and a few lovely, moderate descents through the woodlands.There’s a nice beach at primitive West Cultus Lake Campground; a great area for a rest. The vista over the lake is great, especially to the southeast, where Cultus Mountain rises up from the water’s edge. The trail head is roughly forty miles southwest of Bend and about 30 miles northwest of La Pine. Moab’s amazing surge to acclaim in the mountain biking community is equalled only by the extraordinary geological events that took place millions of years ago to create it. Should you be acquainted at all with Moab, you undoubtedly have heard or read about the Slick Rock Bike Trail. Slick Rock is a wonderful introduction of what this region can offer, but it’s just the tip of the iceberg. Like the majority of of the trails in the area, Slick Rock is definitely not “slick”. The rock formations provide superb traction but they can also be bumpy making front suspension a major plus.Situated near to the banks of the Colorado River this is the jumping off point for recreational excursions of all kinds.Probably one of the world’s hottest mountain bike trails, Slickrock is what a lot of folks bring to mind whenever they consider Moab. In comparison with other rides in the area though, Slickrock is more of a riding playground. The fantastic thing about Slickrock is that you can ride it any way you like. the countless side trips. West Virginia’s abundance of off-road trails has given it country wide acclaim for among the best mountain biking on the planet. The site to visit is the Eastern Central area of the state where the 900,000 acre Monongahela National Forest is home to many hundreds of kilometers of interconnected trails, most of which are mapped and very well marked. Many forest support roads permit you to travel right up to the trailheads.This region of West Virginia is rural but there is quite a busy nightlife. The nearby Snowshoe Resort provides five restaurants, four bars (try Skidder’s Pub on Monday nights or Yodler’s Pub for happy hours and late night gatherings). Ride the Black Creek Trail that starts in the lower Black Creek valley and cris-crosses the thick woods of South Mississippi. Lake Tahoe hosts probably the most photogenic biking trails on earth. For those who have flipped through mountain bike mags more than likely you have already seen the amazing Flume Trail images. Besides a great ride, but as soon as you finish it you’ve got plenty of other activities from which to choose. Lake Tahoe functions like a hub to a network of trails that encircle it. The majority of the trails can begin and end starting from the coastline, handy to cool down after a hard ride. By far the most convenient accommodations are on the North or West Shores. To get the best nightlife relax in or near Tahoe City. Perhaps the best mountain bike route in the west is the Flume Trail.In early May or late October-November, once the hordes of holidaying crowds have left town, it’s clear to see why the Flume-TRT Ride is usually a formidable challenger for the title of best mountain biking route. This 22-mile ride offers quite a bit including stunning sweeping vistas of Lake Tahoe. Tranquil lakes where bald eagles soar. Thrilling single-track that clings perilously into a high, exposed slope, bordered by deep drop-offs. Heart-pounding climbs through woodlands of aspens and conifers. Boulder fields and switchbacks. The terrain is well-suited for intermediate-level riders. For those who have a hankering for a day trip that’s invigorating for the body and soul, here is the ride for you. C&O Towpath Running for 184 miles from Georgetown near is a mostly flat and smooth dirt path up the Potomac River Valley. Historically interesting and scenic, it’s the perfect dirt tour for beginners. There’s great camping all along the trail. Katy Trail At 225 miles, this is America’s longest rail-trail. Mellow mountain biking through rural Missouri along the Missouri River. A host of B&Bs and wineries along the route mean you can ride the entire Katy with a bike and credit card, and sample lots of heartland vino along the way. Some good mountain bike trails spur off the Katy as well. Kettle Valley Railway 360 miles of rivers, lakes, and mountains in remote British Columbia, this is one of the the most epic rail-trails on earth. Great biking for novice not technically challenging, but remote and long. Mah Daah Hey Trail North Dakota is possibly the best four- or five-day ride in the country.Lots of badlands and fast, fun, moderately technical sections. Well what are we waiting for?
