BRIEF The brief of this project is to design a building that has multiple main functions; commercial and residential. The project is located in a dense commercial area that has many activities going on at the same time in various nodes in the area, thus the building must be able to connect the activity nodes and be permeable for pedestrians to walk through.

J AT I N A N G O R I T B UNIVERSITY CANTEEN 2nd Winner for ITB Jatinangor Canteen Design Competition / 2018 Collaboration with Prisky Kartikasari, Shazkia Aulia S. D., and Zahra Dhia Imtinan Supervisor: Dr. Eng. Hanson Endra Kusuma, S. T., M. Eng.
BRIEF The brief of this project is to design the interior of Jatinangor ITB’s existing university canteen, located on the first floor of one of their lecture halls, Gedung Kuliah Umum II. The canteen serves not only as a place to eat, but also as a place for activities such as studying, group discussions, etc.

DINING TABLES This design uses the existing dining tables, thus reducing additional costs and utilizing the existing resources. Each table is equipped with electric sockets and desk lamps that are permanently attached to the table. They are permanently attached to prevent vandalism and theft.
AMPHITHEATRE The amphitheatre is equipped with portable tables and cushions. On dining hours the amphitheatres can be used to eat, and on other hours they can be used to sit and do other kinds of activities.

shifts (250 people with a duration of 30 minutes per shift). The design is able to accomodate up to 434 people on the 1st floor and 52 people on the mezzanine.
LESEHAN The lesehan (sitting on the ground) area is made using boards made from wood. These boards can be used in many different ways, Each board weighs 15 kilograms and can be lifted by two people, so that it is easy to rearrange the boards as needed. There are also cushions so users can sit more comfortably. This area can be set up to do many kinds of activities, such as eating, having discussions and presentations, and also performing.
A R R I V E C L E A N LY, L E A V E C L E A N LY This concept is about the user awareness of the canteen. Users are expected to clean the table and put the dirty dishes in the place provided after they finish eating. This will make the user circulation cycle smoother and faster. This concept also increases values of discipline and respect for cleanliness for the users. With this self-service system, the canteen doesn’t need many cleaning staff and the canteen will always be clean and comfortable.

BRIEF The brief of this project is to design a monument of Indonesian culture in the City of Palu. Palu is the capital of Central Sulawesi Province, Indonesia. Palu is known as the City of Five Dimensions, consisting of valleys, seas, rivers, mountains, and bays. The site is around the Tomb of Pue Nggari, which is currently neglected, to help preserve the tomb as a cultural heritage.
Jalan Doktor Suharso Besusu Barat, Palu Timur, Kota Palu, Sulawesi Tengah KDB 40% - KDH 60%
THE CITY OF FIVE DIMENSIONS The design of the monument area represents the five dimensions in Palu. The long ramp symbolizes valleys. The large pond in the middle symbolizes seas. The long and thin pond on the front symbolizes rivers. The corridor that is elevated above the other areas symbolizes mountains. Lastly, the rounded stairs in front of the monument symbolizes bays.
P U B L I C S PA C E This historical area is designed as a public space, so it can be accessed by everyone regardless of age and condition. This space is expected to trigger social interactions between people and increase the sense of belonging to this tomb.
BAMBOO MONUMENT The monument is made using bamboo, a local material in Indonesia. The monument is made of 34 bamboos that forms a bond and supports each other, symbolizing 34 provinces in Indonesia that support each other despite their differences. This also symbolizes Indonesia’s “Gotong Royong” (mutual cooperation) culture.

BRIEF The brief of this project was to design a space for communication. Communication has evolved throughout the time, from body language to online messages. In an era of time-space compression, overinformation and social networks, has communication lost its spatial aspects? How can architecture generate interaction? The contestants were given 120 hours to brainstorm, design, and finish the project.
People have limited time to live. Therefore, time is precious and should not be wasted. Time must be used wisely. How much time do you spend in a day connecting with someone on your phone? On the other hand, how much time do you spend in a day interacting with someone physically? You will not realize how much time has gone by, and before you know it, you have none left. Do not spend too much of your limited time on a mere virtual world, communicating without the bond formed by a physical, real-life interaction. Do not let the digital world take over your life.
PLAN
Put down your phone. Sit down. Talk.
SECTION

AXONOMETRY
The small and inward space creates an intimate atmosphere between the people inside. Everyone must put their phones on the table. The phones must not be touched, let alone be used. In this intimate, phoneless atmosphere, people can focus on giving their time to the person next to them.
