WHAT IS EASY-OX?

EASY-OX is an odour elimination concept that produces potent oxidizing chlorine dioxide gas. EASY-OX can be used separately for many odour problems, where a thorough cleaning has been done and the source of the odour has been removed, but still with a noticeable residual odour.

The ClO2 system means that you first treat all surfaces with NOVA-OX liquid by means of sprayers, foggers etc. and then releases gas in the treated area using EASY-OX

In gaseous form, ClO2 penetrates deep into cracks, crevices and porous surfaces where odour molecules are trapped and can be difficult to treat. ClO2 gas follows the traces of odour and decomposes, through oxidation, odour-causing molecules wherever they hide.

EASY-OX eliminates the use of other odour remediation products and equipment such as ozone machines, ULV wet foggers, thermal foggers etc. Typically, a single treatment will completely obliterate the most stubborn odour problems.

Chlorine dioxide (ClO2) is a very small molecule, it can e.g. penetrate into very small areas. ClO2 in gaseous form will fill any area evenly and completely, an unsurpassed property of great importance in odour remediation during damage restoration.

ClO2 is much smaller than other particles and molecules. Due to its size, ClO2 is a strong oxidant and acts at very low concentrations. Because ClO2 acts at low concentrations, it is also less corrosive.

Like a real gas, ClO2 is able to make contact with particles and organic material wherever it is located, as well as penetrate into very narrow, hidden or hard to reach areas, including microscopic cracks and fissures.

The ClO2-molecule in gaseous form is smaller than a corresponding ozone molecule This is one of the reasons why EASY-OX works better and faster than ozone and other odour remediation methods such as ULV wet foggers, thermal foggers and the like.

ClO2 - Great oxidation capacity

Chlorine dioxide is very effective in oxidizing odours of organic origin. Chlorine dioxide is a selective oxidant and reacts particularly in combination with organic substances. In comparison with other oxidizers such as ozone and chlorine are the main advantage of chlorine dioxide its low oxidizing power combined with a great oxidizing ability. A much smaller amount of ClO2 is generally used to neutralize an odour than with the use of other oxidizers. The table illustrates this relationship.

ClO2 is a selective oxidant

The table illustrates that the oxidation/corrosion potential of ClO2´s (chlorine dioxide) is lower than other oxidizers and thus the formation of corrosion on non-stainless metals etc. be highly unlikely. You can therefore calmly spray NOVA-OX liquid on virtually all waterproof soft and hard surfaces and materials such as fabric, textiles, furniture, wood, metals, etc.

The same applies to the treatment of rooms with EASY-OX gas. In relation to ozone, EASY-OX gas will not have a corrosive or destructive effect on buildings, contents and movables.

The safety of handling ClO2 (chlorine dioxide) gas is important. Therefore, please follow the instructions below. See also the EASY-OX Safety Data Sheet under section 8.2 Exposure controls.

EYE / FACE PROTECTION: Wear goggles. Eye protection must comply with EN 166.

HAND PROTECTION: Wear gloves. Material type: Nitrile/ Neoprene rubber. Gloves must comply with EN374

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE SUIT: Use an approved type, e.g. type 5-6.

SAFETY FIRST

WEAR RESPIRATORY PROTECTION:

Filter B/P2 or a combination filter of type A2B2P3. Respiratory protection must comply with one of the following standards: EN 136/140/145

SAFETY ALWAYS COMES FIRST

We recommend filtering respirators:

We recommend wearing this equipment from the moment you activate the EASY-OX sponge with water, until after the final venting has taken place.

APPLICATION

For professional use only. Use in cars, RV's, boats, houses and offices:

• deodorizing the air in heavily contaminated confined spaces.

• sanitizing the air in Pre & Post mould remediation projects.

• eliminate foul odours caused by mould, smoke and other organic sources.

IMPORTANT

• Treatment time is a minimum of 6 hours. For best results, treat overnight.

• Once packet is activated, close & lock doors and DO NOT enter space under any circumstance.

• Chlorine dioxide is an oxidizer and may react with other chemicals.

STEP 1 - Preperation & Set Up

1) For maximum results for any treatments, close all windows and doors. Block sunlight from all windows and or treat overnight. Sunlight severely weakens the performance of the gas.

2) Ideal treatment temperature range is 15-32°C. Optimum temperature is 21°C. Pre-Heat or cool down as needed. Optimum relative humidity 65% or higher.

3) Remove all plants and pets and cover fish tanks.

4) Clean & vacuum space to be treated. Cover all smoke detectors.

5) If needed, seal gaps around windows and doors using blue painter’s tape.

6) Prepare space by standing all chair/couch cushions and mattresses upright. Covering electronics, closing fireplace flue damper and opening all closets, cabinets and drawers. Open all room doors outside of containments to allow gas movement.

7) Secure the supplied warning signs to entry door(s).

HVAC PREPARATION FOR AREAS OUTSIDE OF CONTAINMENTS

1) Remove and discard old air filter prior to gas treatment.

2) Clean plenum(s) behind air filter(s), clean the return air plenum and distribution plenum at HVAC unit if accessible. Duct work cleaning prior to gassing is recommended when practical or as needed.

3) Turn of f AC and/or Heat system. Move fan switch from Auto to On. This will re-circulate the gas through the conditioned space and ductwork that is outside of any containment. Use a small fan to circulate the air in any room when no HVAC system is present.

2) Use a small desk top-type fan to circulate the air inside the containment.

3) Do not place the small fan so it blows over the top of the gas packet.

STEP 2 - Treatment

1) Open the clear plastic holder, remove the foil packet – do not shake, cut or slice the packet.

2) Place plastic holder on a flat, level surface a minimum of 1 meter from the floor (to prevent possible bleaching from occuring), and a minimum of 2.5 meters from the HVAC return air vent. DO NOT PLACE DIRECTLY ON CARPET OR BEDS.

3) Fan MUST be in place and running, on low, BEFORE packet is activated (to circulate gasin treatment area).

4) Remove foil packet and fill plastic holder with room temperature tap water. DO NOT USE HOT WATER!

4) Open foil wrapper, remove deodorizing packet and place the packet’s BLUE side down into the water. Packet will quickly expand, activate and generate ClO2 gas.

5) After activating the packet exit the space immediately Close and lock all exterior doors into the space. Do not enter space at any time during treatment. Make sure warning placards are in place.

6) Minimum treatment is 6 hours

For best results treat the space overnight.

STEP 3 - Air Out Procedure

1) If post testing is required, do not air out containment orstructure before clearance test

2) At end of treatment re-enter the treated areas withproper PPE gear. Open all doors and windows to allow spaceto air out for a minimum of 1 hour or as needed. A fan can beused to accelerate final air out. After a short period of ventilation, the smell is significantly reduced, and protective equipment is no longer necessary.

3) After initial air-out CLOSE PLASTIC HOLDER with liquid and packet inside. Remaining yellow liquid is an oxidizer – do not spill as bleaching may occur.

4) Dispose of plastic holder and contents in an outdoor refuse container or composter. Packet is biodegradable and holder is #3 plastic & recyclable.

5) Remove blue painters tape if used.

6) Run HVAC System in treated spaces after treatment. If applicable, install new air filter.

THE PLASTIC HOLDER IS PART OF A CIRCULAR PACKAGING SOLUTION

The holder is sorted as plastic and is 100% recyclable. The sponge is 100% biodegradable.

NOTE! Additional treatment may be needed depending on the severity of the problem.
