Returning Home to Self Connecting to Source Energy by Laura Baker

E

verything is made up of energy, including the air we breathe, the food we consume, and the body in which we reside. Throughout our lives, we deplete our energy. This may be due to a stressful day at work, illness, lack of sleep, or consumption of food that is lacking in vibrant living energy, such as fruits and vegetables. When our energy is depleted, we may find ourselves in a constant state of exhaustion, anxiety, depression, or other illness. Fortunately, the Universe provides us with an endless supply of source energy that we can tap into through breath. There are many benefits to connecting to source energy, including: n Decreased depression and anxiety. Connecting to our breath quiets our mind. It allows for more space between thoughts, which in turn provides us with a moment to

observe our patterns rather than react to them. We may find that we are able to observe negative self-talk and stop this behavioral pattern before it contributes to feelings of anxiety and depression. n Increased sense of calmness and inner peace. When our mind is not consumed with negative self-talk, worries, or incessant problem-solving, we will feel calm and more peaceful. We will be able to observe issues and develop solutions, rather than react to them. n Decreased stress and increased immunity. By connecting to our breath and developing a daily practice, we are likely to experience lower stress levels and an improved immune system, as our body can put its energy into keeping our system healthy and vibrant.

Find a quiet place to sit or lie down. Close your eyes. Place your hands on your belly. Inhale. Fill your belly, then your chest. Exhale, long and slow through your mouth. Relax your body. Be mindful of places you typically hold your stress, such as neck and shoulders. Repeat for 5 minutes (or longer!)

You will observe a sense of quiet as your mind becomes calm and your body becomes more relaxed. I recommend practicing this exercise in the morning and evening, and anytime you feel you need extra support and inner calm.
