“THE MOTHER ART IS ARCHITECTURE, WITHOUT AN ARCHITECTURE OF OUR OWN WE HAVE NO SOUL OF OUR CIVILIZATION” Frank Lloyd Wright

IT ALL BEGINS WITH A SIMPLE SKETCH

02 03

PHILOSOPHY

Architecture is an art that connects human with nature. Being an architect is not an easy job, one should be aware of many things including humanity, culture, and environment. I believe that “As an architect you design for the present, with an awareness of the past, for a future which is essentially “Norman Foster. My own notion of architecture is to create an architecture that

touches human feelings and leave an impact on them. Also, generate spaces with experience that ingrained in the memory, giving each space a special identity and feels different than the others. As Tadao ando said, “I do not believe architecture has to speak too much. It should remain silent and let nature in the guise of sunlight and wind”. I believe that one should balance

between architecture and art, by designing meaningful outstanding forms that interact with the environment and correspond to the interior spaces and its function rather than neglecting it. Be able to make Harmony between architecture and Nature where buildings do not disturb the nature, but should incorporate the landscape as part of the view. In the end, architecture

can make a difference in people’s lives, by awakening their inside feelings, solve problems and the city through contributing to its greater picture.

The ramp taking you to the space represent the invention and technology happening now a day and after all what matter for human is a shelter. It reflected in the outside by a projecting mass that is darker than the other.

Dark corridor with water drop artwork at the sides that indicate a freeze moment take you to the beauty artwork a curved dark space that shows the rainbow art from only one side while the other sides are all equal that is why choosing the curve taking from a circle because it has the same

SHADE SF18

STUDIO IV [Group Project] Competition

Shade SF18 is a smart shading system designed to shade a garden seat. It is composed of two major components, one fixed and one movable. Like a sunflower, the movable part tracks down the sun and moves along with it, providing shade all day long. This process is monitored by photo-voltaic cells and sensors, which generate enough power to make the movment

possible, with no external energy supply. The photovoltaic cells are arranged according to the Fibonacci sequence found in the sunflower, which is the most efficient way to maximize the amount of solar energy gained and minimize the amount of waste space.

FLEXIBILITY AND MOBILITY Shade SF18 is flexible in terms of installation and transportation. Its main structure can be completely folded, after removing the movable shade. MOVEMENT CONCEPT The sunflower demonstrates phototropism, which is the ability to rotate their heads so that it always face the sun’s rays. The sunflower does so by a mechanism called heliotropism, or sun tracking. PROCESS SKETCHES AND SOLAR STUDY

MOVEMENT MECHANISM The movable part of the shade is powered by the photovolatic cells, that are connected to sensors. These sensors will send signals to the mobile part, in order for it to move a specific amount of length each sun hour. 60 61
