PHILOSOPHY
Architecture is an art that connects human with their nature. Being an architect is not an easy job, one should be aware of many things including humanity, culture and environment. I believe that, “As an architect you design for the present, with an awareness of the past, for a future which is essentially “Norman Foster My own notion of architecture is to
Create an architecture that touches the human feelings and leave an impact on them. Also, generate spaces with experience that ingrained in the memory, giving each space a special identity and feelings different than the others. As Tadao ando said, “I do not believe architecture has to speak too much. It should remain silent and let nature in the guise of sunlight and wind”. I believe that one should
Balance between architecture and art, by designing meaningful outstanding forms that interact with the environment and correspond to the interior spaces and its function rather than neglecting it. Be able to make Harmony between architecture and Nature where buildings do not disturb the nature, but should incorporate the landscape as part of the view. At the end architecture can make a
Differences in people’s lives, by awaken their inside feelings, solve problems and the city through contributing to its greater picture.

PUBLIC OPEN SPACES
SITE PLAN
SITE ANALYSIS: Design a public spaces that let in the water in order to support the theory and increase people experience because by the rules and regulation given to the municipality a span of 15 m should be left from the sea to the building.
Amount of POS available per person in different cities compared to Jeddah. According to Jeddah municipality [2009], the provision of POS per person in the city is less than 2m2 WHO standard [minimum 2m2 per person]

CONCEPTUAL APPROACH The project is located in southern Cornish line, which makes the building part of the public open space, and pedestrian line. This affected the form and the orientation of the building. By projecting lines to different angle views around the site (Sea view and Islamic port) (City view and the public facilities) (Landmark views: king fahad fountain and park hayat resort)

ARCHITECTURE THEORY PHENOMENOLOGY Phenomenology demonstrated in architecture as the manipulation of space, materials and light and shadow to create a memorable encounter through an impact on the human senses which are touch, sight, smell, sound and taste. SHADE SF18
STUDIO IV [Group Project]
Shade SF18 is a smart shading system designed to shade a garden seat. It is composed of two major components, one fixed and one movable. Like a sunflower, the movable part tracks down the sun and moves along with it, providing shade all day long. This process is monitored by photo-voltaic cells and sensors, which generate enough power to
make the movement possible, with no external energy supply. The photovoltaic cells are arranged according to the Fibonacci sequence found in the sunflower, which is the most efficient way to maximize the amount of solar energy gained and minimize the amount of waste space.
“I believe that the way people live can be directed a little by architecture” TADAO ANDO
46 47
MOVEMENT CONCEPT The sunflower demonstrates phototropism, which is the ability to rotate their heads so that it always face the sun’s rays. The sunflower does so by a mechanism called heliotropism, or sun tracking.
MOVEMENT MECHANISM The movable part of the shade is powered by the photovolatic cells, that are connected to sensors. These sensors will send signals to the mobile part, in order for it to move a specific amount of length each sun hour.
PROCESS SKETCHES AND SOLAR STUDY
FLEXIBILITY AND MOBILITY Shade SF18 is flexible in terms of installation and transportation. Its main structure can be completely folded, after removing the movable shade.
