‘CurveOnn’ Budget Hotel Architectural Design Studio 4
Typology: Budget Hotel
Location: Bandung
This academic project asks to design a budget hotel located in the Riau area which is a tourist center in the city of Bandung. Riau area is known as the destination for tourists. Its strategic location and crowded with tourists throughout the year, makes this place ideal for building hotels.
The hotel is designed according to the typical Riau street typology, which symbolizes the culture of Bandung. The limited area and the demand for commercial productivity in budget hotels is a challenge to be applied to this task. The designed budget hotel consists of 80% selling area.

This eight floor budget hotel utilises columns and curved corners as the design attraction. Using neutral colours and increasing vegetation in the hotel area as a response to the mass that is forced to extend with an east-west orientation to maximise the available space. The neutral colours used help to reduce the sun's glare and heat, creating a more comfortable environment for the visualisation of the design.
The room windows are fitted with ornamental plants on the outer side and sun shading to block excess sunlight. Both combinations are expected to increase the comfort of the hotel's guest rooms.
