ARCHITECTURE AS POLITICS THE ROLLING VILLAGE
With the increasing number of refugee population in berlin, the city suffers a housing crisis. The three story interlinked vertical village is a proposal tackling the shortage of housing with the prime focus on refugee housing. The proposal implements the idea of give and take providing an environment which allows an interaction, a growth within the community, a space of learning, living and working. Public and private zones are defined through the separation of floor plate. Elements such as open Walkways, cut-in and hollowed out space invite the public, complementing the existing programme of the workshops, the housing is defined as more private elevated on the top floors.

Structure The howe trusss a structure of connected elements usually forming triangular units. The connected elements may be stressed from tension, compression, or sometimes both in response to dynamic loads The Warren truss has been chosen due to its good performance in relation to dynamic loads. PETER PIZZERIA A PLACE FOR THE MANDIAN Making mandian more interesting, the project picks on ideas such as weathering, using the old as the anchor of connection, highlighting the new. The new is filled in as the pieces of a puzzle filling in the gaps within the building but most importantly adding a twist of playfulness to the existing achieved through a various implementations of design elements. The project highlights the mandian, taking note of the events that take place within the everyday.

THE PAVILLIAN PROJECT LIFE BETWEEN BUILDINGS Influenced by its site, the cross path, the central tree and the idea of easy access to the Georgian square, the pavilion project is about creating a space which brings people together. Curved amphitheater with angular rectangles, the pavilion is all about easy access and implantation within site. The project is greatly Influenced by jan gehl philosophy of building for human dimension, enhancing the experience by using architecture to bring people together.

TROPICAL CLIMATE THE SENTOSA ISLAND COMMUNAL CENTRE Malay architecture is a good example of traditional housing that implement the tropical climate as a successful product of sustaibale architecture which reflects they way of life and living. These design strategies of the vernacular architecture can still be used today’s architecture to accomodate comfort, culture and environment through the use of modern design means. The proposal for the project inhabits and implements the vernacular teachings developed and tested over time, understanding the climate obstacles raging from floods, heavy rain, insulated roofs to the use of open plan which allows the building to breath.

SOCIAL HOUSING ROUGH SLEEPERS: Rough sleeping is a cause of long-term problems starting from the initial crisis and over time building on it: Initially starting from sleeping at a friends house or a family member which is not an adequate longterm solution to homelessness leads onto taking shelter in hostels for a duration of time until they cannot stay there any long-er and lastly leading to the final crisis of rough sleeping. The project delves into accommodating rough sleepers with a quality lifestyle, not just a living space tacking the issues of community, society and the value of the individual within this hierarchy. The project makes use of elements which allow for the individual to be involved within the community. There are four major stages my project involves: Exclusion: the initial stage of research and collecting data Segregation: identifying the two communities and issue associated with it through surveys and research into the local community Integration: proposing a building which accommodates the Needs and space of rough sleeper within the city Inclusion: erasing the boundary lines between the two community through countering the adjustable proposal Embedding the two communities.

THE DIOGENE PROJECT THE FLOATING HOUSE The Floating house project appriciates the complexity of the traditional Japanese architecture by utilising the Japanese joinery and the slot-in technique where wood interlocks within itself without the need of fastening screws or nailing. This project has allowed the opportunity of exploring Japanese joinery as a style of building, which is very traditional, complex within its simplicity and evolved with a modernised perspective.
