URBAN GREENHOUSE The Urban Greenhouse constitutes a live-work tower designed for transient living and working, and a plinth that serves as a public green space. The greenhouse serves as an urban connector between the green spaces of Theodor-Heuss Platz situated to the west of the site and Lietzenseepark situated to the east. It provides a high quality green space for the transient residents, workers and visitors from the public. The building program is subdivided within 3 main volumes. The top-most is the residential volume which has has two types of apartments to accommodate different numbers of occupants. It has all the amenities necessary for transient living such as laundry rooms and shared kitchen spaces. The middle working volume of the tower constitutes both conventional working spaces featuring enclosed individual offices, and non conventional spaces featuring open plan co-working spaces. The bottom-most plinth volume constitutes a greenhouse within which are elevated platforms that stand on thin steel columns. They hold a range of activities varying from transient working spaces such as hot desks and transient living spaces such as sleeping pods which short term users can rent for a few hours a day. Other activities include recreational spaces, coffee shops and local retail outlets. The volume is made of a glass and lightweight steel structure which allows the greenhouse to be porous and transparent enough to ensure that visual connectivity remains between the inside and the outside of the volume.

TEMPLE OF WORSHIP The Temple features a dynamic and open program, whose main focus is centered around learning about religions; a research center for exploring the evolution of world religions and studying upcoming or new religions and how they form. Rather than having a focus on worship in terms of traditional religious rituals it will have a focus on worship in terms of knowledge-seeking. The ‘Temple’ on the top level presents an inclusive public space in which people of all religions can come in to worship or contemplate. In this project, the dome is perceived as an archetype within which spaces possessing strong architectural characters can be conceived. The dome stands out as a prominent element in the design of sacred spaces. It can be considered a symbolic volume that is relatable to people across all cultures and is present in architectures that have marked various civilizations throughout time. The inner sanctum of a dome tenders towards higher forces and creates an inexplicable feeling or experience. This unique spatial character enables the dome to be an appropriate volume to hold the spiritual spaces of the building. The variations of the domes represent the diversity of the fabric of religion in the world. This diversity is further highlighted through light, texture and materiality.

OFFICE RENOVATION This project comprises the renovation of some selected spaces in the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation office building in Abuja. The spaces include a conference room , waiting room, office spaces and kitchenette.

Each residence is afforded access to various services such as shared palm gardens, facility management services, controlled access 24-hour security, etc.

THE CLUSTER The Cluster is a contemporary apartment building on Sheikh Zayed Road, Dubai. The project has a goal of trying to understand new forms of living and inhabiting spaces based on cultural elements embedded in Emirati society in the United Arab Emirates. The client’s main request was that the building has to reflect the Emirates and Emarati culture in a modern way. He said: “I want a place where Emarati families can live a contemporary but rooted life in the center of Dubai!” The building comprises 28 apartments with 4 apartments per story and a retail block on the ground level. The residences were created in 4 different typologies, each uniquely positioned throughout the vertical height of the building. Various aspects of Emirati culture and traditional architecture were implemented in the design. There is an emphasis on privacy and this is reflected in the vast distance between the entrances of each apartment. The connection to nature is made through private green couryards in each apartment. The strong sense of community in Emirati culture is retained through creating a shared ‘majlis’ for community gatherings. Other facilities include a mosque, lounge spaces, a gym and a swimming pool on the roof top.
