Moatoshi holds consultative meeting

DIMAPUR: Advisor of Labour & Employment, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship and Excise, Moatoshi Longkumer conducted a consultative meeting in the presence of Commissioner & Secretary, Labour & Employment, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Sushil Kumar Patel with the principals of the Industrial Training Institutes and District Employment Officers of the Employment Exchanges along with officials of the department of Employment, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship on May 18 and 19.

KOHIMA, MAY 20 (NPN): Khonoma village celebrated Thekranyi Festival 2023 under the theme ‘Excelling in the 21st century’ at the Community Hall, Terhotsiese Khonoma on May 20.

Greeting the people of Khonoma, minister, of Horticulture & Women Resources and host of the festival, Salhoutuonuo Kruse highlighted the significance of the festival and said that Thekranyi is a festival of the youth, where the young and the age group enjoy and feast, using their earnings from agricultural labor.

She also said that the festival marks the beginning for the farmers to start their agriculture and farming.

In his short speech, advisor, Youth Resources and Sports, Keoshu Yimchunger acknowledged and shared his experience visiting the green village and described Khonoma as not only a clean village but a highly potential village.

Advisor to chief minister and chairman IDAN and special guest, Abu Metha speaking on the occasion acknowledged God’s blessings for the auspicious day in celebrating Thekranyi.

He also acknowledged the people of Khonoma for their contribution to the journey of making ‘Nagaland’.

He said that Khonoma village has given its best sons and daughters to the Naga people in all walks

He also advocated the tools and use of social media platforms pointing out that social media should be in a positive manner.

He also assured that the ‘Thekranyi’ festival will become an official part of the Nagaland calendar and even suggested setting up a Khonoma Green fund to improve the economy so that various aspects of the environment and biodiversity was managed.

Earlier, he congratulated the village for bringing up the first woman in the history of Nagaland as a minister.

He further elaborated on the theme and stated that with an aim to control and prevent major NCDs, the day was earmarked to promote awareness on hypertension and to seek treatment to control it as uncontrolled hypertension may lead to heart attack, stroke and kidney damage.

NCD health screening camp was also held after the programme, where 54 people were screened for blood pressure, blood sugar test, weight check and general check-up. The programme was chaired by MO Kilomi PHC Dr.Gihuka Chishi.

At the meeting, Moatoshi reviewed the activities and achievements of the department and emphasized the need for innovation in reducing the unemployment rates in the State.

Moatoshi also high - lighted the importance of conducting regular job fairs across the state to align unemployed youths with employers.

The advisor encouraged the Department to work out an action plan to conduct one training programme in each district headquarters on two differ- ent trades each for men and women with the Mobile Skill Morung. Additional secretary and director, Kovi Meyase, in his keynote address, appreciated Moatoshi’s concern towards the department and acknowledged his initiative towards taking the department forward.

CANSSEA central unit visits Wokha

DIMAPUR: CANSSEA central unit led by its vice president, Zubemo Tsanglao and press and information secretary, Siewatho Nyusou visited Wokha district and held interaction with Wokha district officials on May 20, at Deputy Commissioner Conference hall, Wokha.
