Chief Justice of GHS visits Kma

DIMAPUR: Chief Justice of Gauhati High Court (GHC) Assam, Nagaland, Mizoram and Arunachal Pradesh, Justice Rashmin Manharbhai Chhaya, visited District and Sessions Court Kohima on July 6.

Kohima Bar Association led by president, Khriedi Theünuo, welcomed Chhaya on his maiden visit after taking over as Chief Justice of GHC. Chhaya held a brief interaction with KBA members and also inspected functioning of District & Sessions Court Kohima.

Nagaland Building and Other Construction Workers’ Welfare Board (NBOCWWB) in coordination with the 89 Border Roads Task Force (BRTF), Sechü-Zubza held an on-field registration drive of migrant workers at the latter’s garrison, SechüZubza on Friday.

In his address, Chairman, NBOCWWB, Dr. Kekhrie Yhome said India being a welfare state, provides social security to its citizens in all walks of social life.

He observed that although there were many rich people in the country, there were an equal number of poor people as well who, the government had vouched to look after no matter where they were in the country.

He pointed out that NBOCWWB was tasked with the job to look after people in the construction sector not just from the state but even from other states.

Yhome urged the need for workers to register with the board to avail benefits, given the nature of their job which was seasonal and prone to accidents.

He said that people in this profession were often looked down upon and considered as people from lower strata of the society and were subjected to humiliation and therefore said the board was there to ‘look after the needs of this group of people’ and encouraged them to get themselves registered.

Yhome also assured workers that the board would look after all of them living in every part of the State.

He encouraged them to take the pamphlets that were provided to them and to clarify any of their doubts with any of the officials.

He further informed that the board and BRTF would work together to register all workers currently employed under BRTF.

Earlier, AEE, BRTF, Harsh Srivastava informed that BRTF was not aware of the schemes provided under NBOCWWB, however, by working with the board, he learned about all of it.

He expressed hope that with the collaboration between the two, the targeted group would be able to avail all the facilities that were being provided.

Leading the pro gramme, Chief Executive Officer, NBOCWWB, T. Chubayanger, informed the workers that the board would provide all the support and logistics for them to get registered and avail the facilities. He told them that the staff and officials of the board would explain the schemes in detail and make the registration process easier for them.

He also highlighted the various facilities which included healthy policy under Ayushman Bharat, Students Education Assistance, Life Insurance, Tools Grant, Maternity Assistance, Work Related Accidental Death Ex-gratia and that a one-time pension was also in the pipeline.

More than 80 workers were able to get registered during the drive.

STINER-TFC, SASRD NU: session on entrepreneurship

DIMAPUR: A mind mapping interactive session on “Entrepreneurship” was organised by STINER-TFC, SASRD, NU under the initiative of PI, STINERTFC, Prof. Akali Sema and Dean, SASRD, NU in collaboration with EMPRETEC India Foundation on July 6 at multi-purpose hall, SASRD, Medziphema campus.

In a press release, SASRD informed that programme was conducted with an aim to establish “value and utility of entrepreneurial mindset among the young generation” and provide suggestive evidence that growing entrepreneurial mindset have a positive impact in getting youths to see entrepreneurship and self-employment as a possible career.

A team of 15 entrepreneurs from EMPRETEC India Foundation, both from outside and within-state deliberated on their ‘struggles and success stories’, while also emphasising on importance of developing creative minds, determination, and dedication towards ones’ goal.

National director of EMPRETEC India Foundation, Arnab Chakrabortty moderated the session where different ideas were exchanged, existing and expecting problems were discussed, and various experiences were shared by resource persons and some participants.

Earlier, the programme was chaired by PI, STINER-TFC, Prof. Akali Sema and Dean, SASRD, NU, while Pro Vice Chancellor, SASRD, NU, Prof. Aleminla Ao delivered the welcome address.

A total of 377 participants comprising of students from Modern Christian School, Rivenburg School, King David Higher Secondary School, Government Higher Secondary School, Livingstone Foundation International, Pilgrim School, and college and university students from Unity College, Dimapur Govt. College, Eastern Christian College, Tetso College, B.Sc., M.Sc. and PhD scholars from SASRD NU and a number of aspiring local entrepreneurs participated in the interactive programme.

Nagaland observes ‘Hariyali Saptah’

DIMAPUR: As part of union ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change, “Hariyali Saptah”, a nationwide plantation drive in commemoration of “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav”, Nagaland also organised plantation drives in Kohima and Mokokchung on July 8.

According to division forest officer, Kohima, Rajkumar M, plantation drive was organised by Nagar Vans of Kohima at Forest Colony and Botanical Garden. PCCF and HoFF, Dharmendra Prakash graced the programme held at Forest colony as chief guest. In his brief address, he spoke about the importance of environment and encouraged everyone to take up initiatives to protect the environment.

In Mokokchung, as part of the celebration, Marep Forest Park has been selected as site to represent Nagaland. The dignitaries witnessed the ceremonial plantations in the presence of DC Mokokchung, Shashank Pratap Singh; SP Mokokchung, Aotula, and officers and staff of the Mokokchung Forest Division along with the Nagaland Development Outreach NGO.

DFO Mokokchung, Dr. Sentitula said that Van Mahotsav is a forest festival and annual tree planting season in the entire country, which is celebrated in the first week of July.

The objective behind celebrating Van Mahotsav was to keep local people involved in plantation drives and to spread environmental awareness. She stated that with the active participation from all sections of society in the district, mass plantation has been carried out.

It may be noted that union ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change organised a plantation drive throughout the country under the banner of ‘Hariyali Saptah’.

The main programme took place in Delhi where minister, MoEF&CC, Bhupender Yadav and MoS, MoEF&CC, Ashwini Kumar Choubey graced the programme. The programme was organised countrywide in 150 locations.
