DIMAPUR: Deputy chief minister and in-charge of Wokha district for COVID19, Y. Patton accompanied by advisor of Horticulture and Border Affairs, Mhathung Yanthan visited Wokha and held a review meeting with District Task Force to assess situations related to COVID-19 on August 27.
A press release by Dy. CM media cell stated that, recent activities and overall scenario of the district was highlighted by DC Wokha, CMO and Ffrontline officials. Dy. CM and advisor, expressed their satisfaction and congratulated the Wokha DTF for overall management and right measures adopted in fighting against COVID-19 pandemic, apart from few positive cases. Patton conveyed his special gratitude to the DTF for their selfless services rendered especially during this pandemic and encouraged them to continue their good work. Patton also thanked the people of Wokha district for their unflinching support and cooperating with the frontline workers. He further appealed them to follow the guidelines laid down by the government as the battle was far from over. Legislators also urged the citizens to take the present situation in a positive way, as COVID-19 was here to stay for long and one must learn how to live with it. Patton further expressed concerns about entry restriction in some villages and colonies and appealed to avoid such restrictions but to maintain and follow the government SOPs and notifications issued from time to time.

DIMAPUR: Drawing attention to the deplorable Mon-Longwa road which covers 42 kms and maintained by Border Roads Organisation, the Longwa Students Union (LSU) has appealed the government and concerned authorities concerned to immediately intervene on this issue post pandemic “so that the untold hardships of the people of Longwa and other neighboring villages is lessened.”
A press release by LSU general secretary, T. Nahlak Wangnao stated that, Longwa village is one of the biggest villages in Mon district and home to more than 5000 people and lies at the international border of India and Myanmar. While blacktopping was done in 2005-2007, the LSU stated that there has been no proper renovation or repairing and the annual renovations do not cover the worst affected parts. Lamenting over the deplorable drainage and potholes which worsens the road condition, the LSU expressed deep concern and “dismay upon the concerned authorities in particular.”

Power department informs: Department of Power has informed all electricity consumers covered by IT billing and online payment facility under 9 R-APDRP towns (Dimapur, Kohima, Wokha, Phek, Chumukedima, Mokokchung, Tuensang, Zunheboto and Mon). In order to avail the facility of “Trusted Consumer Meter Reading” in DOPN web portal (www.dopn.Rov.in), a specific time period/slot i.e. 1st to 10th of every month is being provided for the consumers to manually enter/provide their own energy readings. This will enable the respective billing offices (SDO) to generate bills for the current month which will be posted and available for viewing and payment in the subsequent month. Consumers can download the bill(s) and pay online either from the portal itself by selecting the view and payment tab from the portal menu or through mobile wallet apps- Phone pay, Google pay, Amazon pay, BHIM etc. Following steps/process is to be adopted by the consumers for providing trusted meter reading online. Log on to department website www. dopn.gov.in; Sign up/register with the consumer number and log in to “My Account”; Select the “Trusted Consumer Meter Reading” tab/box option; Fill in the required fields (date of reading & units consumed as on that date) and submit.

DIMAPUR: Evergreen Welfare Society (EWS), Mon in collaboration with department of Social Welfare, Nagaland and Prodigals Home, Dimapur launched a virtual programme on free home based detoxification treatment programme 2020 on August 25 with the theme “Drugs treatment works”.
A press release by organisers stated that, during the virtual launching programme DC Mon Thavaseelan K, appreciated the initiative and also assured that administration and police will render full cooperation and support. He further appealed the concerned department to extend the programme if the same goes satisfactory considering the present pandemic situation with no drugs treatment in the district.
EWS decided to conduct home detox programme to the people who use drugs and alcohol in the district headquarter and its surroundings villages with the minimum target of 20 clients in a month. Proposed activities to be done during home based detoxification treatment programme 2020 is to do proper assessment, counseling, medication, health monitoring and also to do family counseling and follow up by referral.
Earlier, programme was chaired by Sashi, programme officer (EWS) and dedicated by Gaipha, pastor, Hindi Nagamese Baptist, Mon. Other invitees were DAPCU, Mon Users Network, NNF and Shansham Organisation.
