(PTI): Asom Gana Parishad, the ruling alliance partner in Assam, held its general body meeting on Thursday despite a stay by a local court citing nonreceipt of the order before it.

A district and sessions court had on Wednesday ordered AGP not to hold its scheduled general body meeting because it violated the party’s constitution and COVID-19 guidelines.

He further highlighted several issues of the state and informed that the state under the present BJP-led coalition government has started export of certain products of the state like ginger, turmeric, pineapple, black rice, etc.

“It is believed that the state has deposits of limestone and chromites and that the government is seeking clearance for exploration of the same from the Central ministry. We have already identified the deposits,” the release quoted state minister in his interaction with the Union minister.

He stated that the state will identify districts for implementation of “One District One Product Scheme” and to submit a report on it within a week.

He further highlighted that Manipur has the highest concentration of looms and weavers and that handloom and handicraft as it was the culture and tradition of the people of the state. “Handloom and handicraft is our second livelihood,” he said.

It is proposed to drive it on a mission mode with specific targets set to be achieved by 2022, when the country celebrates 75 years of independence.

The fresh infections have pushed the state’s caseload to 3,555, he said. Of the 143 fresh cases, 31 were reported from the Capital Complex region, 24 from East Siang, 16 from East Kameng, 10 from West Kameng, nine from Tirap and eight from Upper Siang, State Surveillance Officer Dr L Jampa said.
