KOHIMA, FEB 10 (NPN): Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Nagaland V. Shashank Shekhar informed a total 183 candidates out of 225 who filed nominations will be contesting in the February 27 assembly polls including four women candidates, while BJP candidate from Akuluto constituency Kazheto Kinimi was declared elected unopposed.

No ‘Cow Hug Day’ on Feb 14, Centre withdraws appeal

(PTI): Amid widespread criticism on social media, the Animal Welfare Board of India (AWBI) on Friday said it has withdrawn the appeal to celebrate February 14 as ‘Cow Hug Day’ following directions from the government. February 14 is observed as Valentine’s Day across the world.
“As directed by the Competent Authority and Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying the appeal issued by the Animal Welfare Board of for celebration of Cow Hug Day on 14th February, 2023 stands withdrawn,” board’s secretary SK Dutta said in a notice posted on its website. It was for the first time that the AWBI had appealed to cow lovers in the country to celebrate ‘Cow Hug Day’.
NEET-PG to be held on March 5

(IANS): The National Eligibility cum Entrance TestPostgraduate (NEET PG 2023) will be conducted as per the schedule date on March 5, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya informed the Lok Sabha on Friday.
Mandaviya said that the decision to not postpone NEET PG 2023 has been taken to streamline the process to avoid further delay in the exam and counselling process caused due to COVID-19.
