Dear Board of Trustees,
I am pursuing the position of project manager for the Anthony Timberlands Center for Design and Material Innovation The projects that I have worked on here at ZGF directly correlate with the same standards that are being asked for in the project being that it is going to be created for educational learning while using mass timber
From working on the Burr and Burton Academy I have a strong understanding of joints, connection, and proper use of the systems in mass timber construction. And from that project and the Montana State University I have gained the experience in creating a project with education being the forefront motivation. Also, from working on the California Polytechnic State University I have created strategies that will help connect the off campus Timberlands Center with the rest of the University.
From your website and many articles written about ZGF has shown the strong intentions of the firm. The William and Linda Front Center for Research and Innovation shows your unique creativity in problem solving and your research in sustainability and the climate crisis shows the great tenacity throughout your projects. I share these morals and goals with the company, and I believe it is extremely important to incorporate them into the Timberlands project.
I would be welcome to having a personal interview to further discuss this opportunity as well as answer any questions that you have about myself. If I do not hear from you in the upcoming weeks, I will follow up to this letter in a phone call to see where you are in your process.
Sincerely, Hans WoestenborgCONTENTS INTRODUCTION + RFP CONTACT INFORMATION

ANTHONY TIMBERLANDS CENTER FOR DESIGN AND MATERIAL INNOVATION
The Anthony Timberlands Center represents a remarkable opportunity to embrace the high ideals and ambitions of the university and the principles of the Fay Jones School by directly illustrating a vision for the future of the school and the 21st-century university in its form and character, rather than nostalgia for the past. The inherently contemporary nature of this project demands both an intensely speculative design process and engagement of best practices in design and construction. Taken together, the Anthony Center will be both of its time and looking ahead to a world designed to be humane, beautiful, and enduring, by being interdisciplinary, diverse, and collaborative.

RESEARCH INTO PRACTICE
La Jolla, CA | Completion date : 2017
ZGF programmed and designed the Altman Clinical and Translational Research Institute to provide an environment in which researchers can obtain the education, resources, and collaborations necessary to translate discoveries into practice.
At the University of California, San Diego, the Institute is a partnership among the University and other local institutions dedicated to improving human health. The mission of the Institute is to create an environment that advances healthcare through interactions between basic scientists, clinical investigators, community physicians, and patients.
Bozeman, MT | Completion date : 2018
Symbolic of the innovative and cross-disciplinary activities happening within, Norm Asbjornson Hall represents a transformation in the way engineering is taught both at Montana State University and across the nation. The building sheds traditional silos to promote dynamic interdisciplinary engagement, meaningful student-faculty interaction, and innovation that responds to and anticipates emerging trends in education, industry and society.
Though the building program is anchored in the College of Engineering, Norm Asbjornson Hall is open to all on campus and also houses the Honors College, strengthening the interdisciplinary nature of the facility. As the first major expansion project outside the campus core, the building serves as a new gateway to the university. The heart and soul of Norm Asbjornson Hall is the Commons. Unlike many traditional academic buildings, the active program of engineering education and collaboration spills out of the classrooms and labs into the central Commons.
Manchester, VT | Completion date : 2021
Founders Hall is a new three-story academic building with classrooms, a library, maker space, and a common area that supports the independent high school's integrated and project-based learning mission.
The design is intended to facilitate cross-disciplinary and collaborative learning opportunities in science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM). The timber frame grand central staircase is a prominent architectural component of the atrium/library which leads up to a view of Mt. Equinox. On the top level is a flexible meeting space referred to as the “Bell Tower Room” as it looks out at the Seminary Building’s bell tower. A courtyard connects the new hall to the Seminary Building. The Rowland Project (the construction of Founders Hall) was made possible through a $20 million donation made to the school from the late Barry and Wendy Rowland. We are confident that this stunning addition to the campus will serve the Academy and the community for years to come.
San Luis Obispo, CA | Completion date : 2022
Designed to be the first truly interdisciplinary building at the Cal Poly San Luis Obispo campus, the William and Linda Frost Center for Research and Innovation unites three colleges under one roof, exemplifying a growing trend in higher education: breaking down traditional education silos to foster an interdisciplinary academic experience and enhance workforce readiness.
The four-story Frost Center represents the future of the classroom and laboratory design; one that is inherently flexible and modular to support education priorities for a growing student body of STEM and humanities undergraduates. The new building will house classroom, lab and faculty office space for the College of Liberal Arts, the College of Science and Mathematics, and the College of Agriculture, Food, and Environmental Sciences (CAFES).
