We designed a sitting apparatus that also has sculptural qualities. Placed on Pratt’s Brooklyn campus, our project fits in with the various sculptures spread throughout. Like many pieces on campus, our design also gives users, visitors, and students a chance to use and interact. We aggregated minimal surface to design the sitting structure. In aggregating, a rib of minimal structures was created. Our design is the minimal approach with a minimal surface. The fabric used stretches and relaxes as someone sits and provides a hammock like sitting structure. This allows for multiple sitting options as the users can even climb and sit on the ribs themselves.
