Damoa: A Website for the Community
Global Context - Globalization and Sustainability
Goal - To create a plan for a service or make a service that allows people to borrow other people’s unused items. This was to help reduce waste on items that were not being used.
Introduction
I decided to create a website by learning how to make one through research.
Process and Thinking
I first started off researching about the different ways in which I could make a website. I initially decided to make the website by learning html. However, after discussing with Mr. Bateson and Mr. Maurrison I made the decision to use a website creator, such as Wix or Squarespace, to make my website. Along the way of researching, I did encounter problems, major one being when I bought a “app theme” believing that it was an app when it was actually a “theme” for another app. I was able to greatly learn from this mistake which was worth the money spent. I then moved on to Wix to create my website. But, before making the actual website, I drew a sketch of what I wanted my website to look like. The final product did not end up exactly like the sketch, but it helped me as a guideline for the design of my website. Even though I faced numerous problems along the way, I was able to successfully complete my final product.
Final Product
When first entering my website, users are greeted with a brief explanation of what the website is. If they wish to know further about the website, they can click on the arrow at the bottom right to be directed to the “About” page. If the user doesn’t wish to go to the “About” page, they can close the pop-up to see the main page of the website. On the main page, users will be greeted with items that other users have posted. Right now, they can see a post put up by me, which explains how users can post their own items onto the website.
Final Product
On the “About” page there are explanations for what the website is, what the name “Damoa” means, and what I wish to achieve from this website. I also have a hyperlinked button located at the bottom of the website that directly links to my email. The users can send any questions they have about the website. On my third page, “Contact”, I have a forum that also allows their users to send any questions they have. However, this forum is only submitted through the website manager and not directly to my email. Check out my website!
