What first sparked your interest in acting?
Favorite actor/ actress?
I have always loved acting; I had the lead role as Susan B. Anthony in my sixth grade play and fell in love with the art! How does it feel breaking out into the acting industry? I feel blessed; I love what I do and I am so grateful everyday that I get to perform and create in this art. How did get your start in acting?
There are so many actresses I love and respect. Some examples are Kate Winslet, Angelina Jolie, Jennifer Lawrence, Rachel McAdams, Julia Roberts, Meryl Streep, Marilyn Monroe...my list can go on for days!
I was a professional dancer in Los Angeles and my roommate was an actor. She talked me into going to a cold reading class and I got a manager that day! What do you like most about your role as Amanda Cryer on Tyler Perry’s “The Haves and the Have Nots?” It’s a challenge. I get to play a character that I was able to develop; I love playing this crazy girl! How are you and your character similar? We aren’t similar. Because of that, I had to do a lot of character building and research. However, we do both love horses and ballet. Do you have any particular favorite memory on set? I think the best memory was when Oprah came on set. I hadn’t met her yet and that was really incredible!
Who was the most charming co-star/celebrity you ever met or worked with? I really enjoy working with my current co-star John Schneider; he is a joy to work with and very charming. What’s your favorite store to shop at? Wasteland, Saks, and anywhere with shoes! How do you like your coffee? I like almond milk lattes. What’s the last hash tag you used? I have a running joke with one of my best friends, Paris Carney; we always hashtag #blonde #brunette on everything. Along with acting, you’re known for your chic style! How would you describe your personal style in your own words? I don’t feel that I belong in a specific category when it comes to style. I like to be unique and have a sense of creativity with my fashion.

What’s the best fashion trend you’ve seen this year? I love crop tops and great high-waisted pants. I’m an hourglass shape so they not only fit my body type, but I think they’re adorable. What’s the worst fashion trend you’ve seen this year? As long as someone is confident in what they are wearing, I don’t think there are any bad trends. What’s an average day-in-the-life for Jaclyn Betham? Well, I wake up, work out and then get ready and rush to auditions, meetings, and events. As an actor, I have a different schedule every day and it’s always changing. No matter where I am or what I am doing, I always start and end my day talking to my wonderful husband Lane Toran. That is the high point of the day! What do your hobbies include outside of acting? I love ballet, cooking, shopping, taking photos, traveling, and exploring new art in the city I’m in. I am also involved in several charities that are quite special and personal to me. Who’s your celebrity crush? Well here’s a hint. When I was a little girl, my nightshirt was of Brad Pitt in “Legends of the Fall.” So there’s that! Do you use any social media sites like Pinterest or Tumblr? If so, which one and why? Of course, I use them all! They all have differences that I appreciate. I use Tumblr for fashion inspiration, Instagram to see what my friends are doing around the world, and Facebook to talk to my family (the only social media my parents have figured out). Pinterest is great to see recipes and cool household things. I use Twitter to read funny jokes or good quotes and I use Vine to watch my hilarious friends. It’s a lot to keep up with but I love all of it! When was the last time you took a “selfie?” Why yesterday of course; I see nothing wrong with a good selfie! We had a great time on your photoshoot, did you enjoy it as much as we did? I had a blast! You guys are so fun and I love you all! What was your favorite look? I liked the slicked back hair with the millions of necklaces...or was it only thousands? Do you have anything else you would like to share with our readers? Always be yourself. Looking up to people is great for inspiration but only dream to be a better you. We have one life to live so live it!

ith a little less than two weeks to plan one of the most memorable days of your life, things can get a little stressful. Taylor Armstrong, known for her role on Real Housewives of Beverly Hills was wed to John Bluher on April 4th, 2014 at the Bel Air Bay Club in front an intimate gathering of 120 guests. In 13 crazy days, Armstrong’s wedding planner David Tutera had to work his magic as they filmed for WE TV’s upcoming new series “David Tutera’s CELEBrations” (premiering August 2014). After crossing off all the t’s and dotting all the i’s in this wedding extravaganza, it was all the little details that made Armstrong’s wedding truly a memorable experience.
The infamous wedding dress is an essential staple of weddings. Whether you’re getting married next month, next year, or don’t even have a boyfriend yet— every girl envisions plans down to the tee what her wedding gown will look like. But if you’re planning a wedding in only 13 days, the wedding dress process might be a little different. Because of the hectic last minute planning, Taylor’s dress was made in only one week! “My team had to work day and night for seven days straight to be able to pull it off…we were still beading the dress up to a few hours before the wedding,” said Gilbert Chagoury.
Everybody knows that aside from the wedding dress, the cake is one of the most important decisions in planning a wedding. There are so many factors in choosing a cake for a wedding. It has to be sweet—but not too sweet. The cake has to look pretty, without falling under the category of tacky. For Taylor’s wedding, she chose a rich creamy chocolate cake topped with delicious salted caramel frosting. This little slice of heaven was created with a rustic idealism in mind, creating a sophisticated and elegant design. The sugar flowers were hand-made in jewel tones to match the flower decor of the wedding. Thanks to Sweet E’s Bake Shop, this amazing one-of-a-kind cake was made a reality. Sweet E’s Bake Shop SweetEsBakeShop.com Twitter & Instagram: @SweetEsBakeShop
With a simple photo of a bouquet that reflected Taylor’s taste, Adelena Rooney had to create the floral arrangements of Taylor’s dreams in order to make her wedding perfect. Taking direction from David Tutera, Studio Fiore Designs was able to create unforgettable mix of small town meets city. “We wanted to create an atmosphere of Colorado meets Beverly Hills, sort of Aspen Glam,” said Rooney.
With the amazing team of Chagoury on board, they were able to create a gorgeous, remarkable gown. “We went with a champagne 4-ply crepe silk with appliqués of vintage lace on top of an embellished French Chantilly lace around the waist to create a corseted effect,” said Chagoury. The back was adorned with eleven strands of pearl and crystal necklaces to create an elegant couture look. A sweeping train in the back was just the right touch to complete this amazing dress. chagourycouture.com
Whether you invite 500 people or a little under 100, the friends and family that gather to be with you on this very day will carve the memory of your fairy tale wedding. Among Taylor’s guests, former co-stars such as Kim Richards, Kyle Richards, Adrienne Maloof, and Lisa Vanderpump attended to see the beautiful Taylor on her special day.
Cheers to the amazing newlywed couple, Taylor and John!
To create this tone, Fiore Designs used flowers in jewel tones mixed with woodsy rustic elements and sparkling chandeliers. The tables were graced with centerpieces filled of garden roses, lilacs, peonies, greeneries, and textural elements all placed in gold footed compote bowls. Not a single detail was spared in order to make this dream wedding a reality. “We strung crystal garland and clematis vine from the center chandelier to spill into the centerpieces,” said Rooney. The ceremony space was stunning with lateens, birch poles, and gorgeous altar pieces in rustic urns. With David Tutera and Fiore Designs working together, the pieces all came together collectively and beautifully to make this rustic Colorado inspired wedding. How do you manage to be a Mother to 3 and still have a sense of humor? Once you get past one kid, you have to laugh because if you didn’t, you would be crying 24/7. What advice do you give to moms that feel like they have lost their identity since the arrival of baby? Find a hobby. Even if you are going to be a SAHM (Stay At Home Mom), you need something that interests you and doesn’t have anything to do with your baby. P.S. Scrapbooking is not a hobby. What do you think is the biggest change of all when becoming a mother that no one warms you about? Going from just worrying about yourself to being responsible for another human being is a pretty huge change to anyone’s psyche. When that changes, everything changes. Despite the challenges of being a mother to 3 girls, you add a career in television on top. How do you manage all of the responsibility? Luckily most of things I have going on never happen at the exact same time. I try to space everything out so that I’m only worried about one aspect of my career and parenting my kids at the same time. Right now I have a book due, but I’m not in production for the TV show; so it’s almost like a spa day! What advice would you give to mothers that feel like a failure for putting their children into daycare? We all have to make decisions every day that can leave us feeling unsure if we’re doing the right thing. At a certain point, you can’t worry about what Dr. Laura thinks, what your college roommate thinks or what your parents think. You have to do what’s right for your family. Deep down, we all probably know what’s right. That won’t stop us from questioning it all the time though. I felt the same way about stopping breastfeeding. What age do you think is the most challenging? 0-5 is pretty killer, but after that, you get to coast for a few years until they hit their teens. Do you have any Mommy shortcuts you can share with us? I put all three of my kids in the bath at one time. It always seems like a short cut, but I guess due to all the fighting and splashing which leads to clean-up and stress, it’s more of a long cut. So don’t do that. What advice do you give to mothers expecting their first baby? Read fun books to balance out all the “what to expect” stuff. I got too obsessive with what was happening every week and couldn’t enjoy my pregnancy for the first few months. Try to relax and enjoy being pregnant without worrying about every single thing you’re going to need. You will have plenty of downtime to run to Target after the baby arrives. Trust me. Plenty. Of. Down. Time.
25
What’s your top tip to leaving the house with children in the shortest time possible? Tell them to put their shoes on in the car. Nothing makes you late more often than kids who take eleven hours to find and put on shoes. How do you survive when you’re sitting in a restaurant and your kids are having a meltdown? Do you have an iPhone? Then give it to your kid! Isn’t a few minutes of peace and quiet worth turning your kid into a zombie for a little while? Also, my personal advice is to stay out of restaurants that have sit-down table service until the youngest child is four. How do you survive long car journeys with 3 children? Honestly, I don’t take them. My 6-year-old twins still get car sick, so going anywhere that takes longer than 15 minutes is a fool’s mission. Do you have anything else you would like to share with our readers? Everyone always says “It goes by so fast” and while that is incredibly irritating to hear when you’re going crazy, it’s actually true. The baby years are over in a flash and the years of having semi-independent kids are sweet. I’m really trying to enjoy them now with less fear of how I may or may not be screwing them up. How will you be spending Mother’s Day this year? Sleeping in until at least…7. What would be the perfect Mother’s Day? Having all three kids occupied so that I can watch 12 hours of Lifetime movies. How have the contents of your purse changed since having your girls? On any given day I might have a Hot Wheel, a four-day-old corner of a tuna sandwich, a wet wipe, a glitter sticker and a glue stick. I’d kill it on Let’s Make a Deal! What is the one of the funniest things one of your children have ever said to you? When my oldest daughter was about 4, she asked me how many people lived in the world. I said “About 6 billion” and she asked, “Does that include our family?” I said “Um…no. I guess it’s 6 billion and five.” Would you say your eating habits have changed since having children? Unfortunately it’s tough. There are way too many temptations to indulge with kids: birthday parties! Halloween! Christmas! Easter! Tuesday! You have to work hard to keep those indulgences in check.
26
What do you think is the greatest worry as a mom? I think we all worry about keeping our kids safe. As cliché as it sounds, there is no worse fear than someone coming along in a panel van and making off with our children because we gave them a little freedom for the first time. It’s all I can do to not be a helicopter parent, but I know it’s best to let them out of our sights sometimes too. Tell us about your new book. When will we be able to get a hold of it? My new book is about ignoring all the unhelpful advice, studies, articles and blogs that tell us we are parenting wrong and to just go with our guts. I will be taking down all the judge-y snack moms, insane amount of volunteering that’s “suggested” in schools, and I’ll admit to just how much TV I let my kids watch. It’s going to be fun. I think it will out by Mother’s Day 2015. Where can our readers follow you?

arah is every bit the pinup we could have asked for in our 50’s-style photo shoot and everything we love about a great cover girl. How did she take to the set so effortlessly? It’s all she’s ever done and wanted to do. Sarah found a love for entertainment and performance onstage in her childhood years and never looked back. After acting in high school and graduating with a B.A. in drama from the University of Virginia, Sarah Drew made her Broadway debut in 2003 before making the move to the small and big screens. She had a starring role in the show Wonderfalls and a fantastic performance in Radio, but her best-known role is that of playing Dr. April Kepner on the smash hit series Grey’s Anatomy. She also takes the lead in Mom’s Night Out in theaters May 9th. We ask what it’s like to live life in the limelight and at home as a hardworking mother. Shooting with Sarah was an absolute pleasure; she has a unique gift for performing and a mountain of personality.
29
You were Born in Virginia and raised in New York; how was life growing up for you? What are your favorite childhood memories? My favorite childhood memories are probably dinner times with my family. We laughed a lot at home.
that occupied so much of my heart and brainspace became irrelevant in comparison to the living, breathing child in front of me. Also, people talk about how intense a parent’s love is. I didn’t understand what they were talking about until I experienced it myself. It is a love like no other. Micah has opened deep wells in myself that I never knew existed and it has been completely life changing.
What did you want to be when you grew up? How do you balance motherhood and a successful career? I’ve always wanted to be an actress. How did you get into acting and when was it that your career started to take off? I acted in school plays and community theatre throughout my whole childhood. Things took off for me when I played Juliet in Romeo and Juliet at the McCarter Theatre in Princeton, NJ. I was reviewed favorably in Variety and NY Times and as a result, had a bunch of agents knocking on my door. Things just took off from there. What is it like to play Dr. April Kepner? I love playing April. I think she has evolved so much since my first episode and I’ve loved being able to evolve with her.
I’m incredibly lucky because Grey’s is a big ensemble show; I actually get quite a bit of time off. I have the amazing luxury of going to work and doing what I love to do and also getting to spend as much time as I’d like with my boy. I think moms that have “normal” 9-5 jobs have it a lot harder than I do. I’m also lucky in that I have a totally equal parenting partner in my husband. He is an amazing dad and picks up the slack when I have super late nights or super early mornings on set. Because my schedule is weird and irregular, we sometimes have our family “weekend” in the middle of the week and treat the weekend as workdays. My husband and I both have strange work hours, so we make it work for our family. It takes some negotiating and navigating, but on the whole, we are incredibly lucky and so amazingly blessed. What do you love the most about being a mother?
Other than the great cast and talented scriptwriters, what is it that you like so much about working on Grey’s Anatomy? That is what I like about working on Grey’s. We are given amazing stories to tell. I love that we are involved in the storytelling. We talk to the writers all the time and we feel like part of a collaborative team. I feel like my handprint has been on many of the scenes we have shot, and that makes me excited to go to work every day. I’m grateful that my opinion matters to the writers. How difficult was it filming Grey’s Anatomy whilst pregnant with your son Micah Emmanuel? No more difficult than any other working pregnant lady. I got tired a lot and we had to be creative with lab coats and charts to hide my big belly, but everyone took such great care of me. I had a rolling stool that accompanied me into every scene so that I could sit down when we weren’t rolling. Our team at Grey’s knows how to handle a pregnant lady. I was the 5th actress in a row to get pregnant and hide that pregnancy on the show. They couldn’t have been more supportive and wonderful.
There are so many things. I love my boy. I find the child development process so miraculous. I love watching him figure out new things and say new things. He’s 2 now, and there are new discoveries every day. I love dreaming about what kind of man he will become. I love that I have so much time ahead of me to watch him figure out who he is. Motherhood is a refining process. I feel like I’m becoming a less selfish human being simply because it’s really hard to be selfish when your day is ruled by a 2 year old. He was up crying for an hour last night and I had to stop what I was doing to care for him, and I wanted to. It’s a strange thing to actually begin to develop the desire to do the selfless thing, to put your day on hold for someone else and actually enjoy doing it. I’m grateful for this process for so many reasons. How will you be spending Mother’s Day this year? Probably in the theater watching my new movie Moms’ Night Out! You have your movie Moms’ Night Out coming out May 9th. Can you tell us more about Allyson, the character you play?
How has motherhood changed you? The biggest change has been that my world has narrowed, in terms of what is really important. Before I had Micah, I would get bogged down in career stuff all the time; I was so much more concerned with what people thought of me. After Micah, I think all of that stuff just disappeared because you just don’t have time to care about the nonsense anymore. You are too busy sustaining the life of a baby with food made by your body, that’s one thing. Secondly, the nonsense doesn’t matter anymore when you’re looking at a tiny person that you helped create. Your world becomes about getting home to your family and looking into the eyes of that little eternal being. The stuff of life

Allyson is a stressed out mom of three who is desperate for a break. She is running herself ragged and doesn’t know how to care for herself in the midst of the crazy motherhood journey. She feels inadequate and exhausted, so her husband encourages her to go out for a night on the town with her girlfriends. She does, and everything goes wrong for the moms and for the dads left at home with the kids. It’s a really funny and joyously moving romp through the beautiful mess we call parenting. This movie is so deeply relatable. You will watch it and feel like someone has put your life up on the big screen. I relate to Allyson in so many ways and I think every mom out there will find something to relate to in this film.

I spent kindergarten as the only hearing child in a classroom full of deaf children. I don’t remember any sign language, which is a bummer because I find sign language so unbelievably beautiful.
5. When I moved into the neighborhood I currently
live in with my husband and son, I was welcomed by the gang of kids on the block as one of their own. They even gave me an official secret name (which I can’t share... obviously). I think they were confused about whether I was a kid or a grownup. I was 26.
Perfect date
My perfect date involves being surprised by my hubby with something that I didn’t have to plan any part of. I would love to go somewhere beautiful to watch the sun set and then I would love to eat a really amazing meal (I have a pretty adventurous taste, so sometimes I find menus overwhelming). Then I’d love to go see a show, but not just any show. A brilliantly acted, brilliantly written play that makes me laugh, cry and think. I want something that inspires me to be a better actor and a better human. No pressure, play! Yeah...that sounds like a pretty damn good date.

The movie has been described as “Breathtakingly funny!” Did you have a fun time on set? We had a total blast! It was such a collaborative experience, and the script was constantly changing for the better as a result. It was a beautiful and hilarious experience and I think you’ll see how much fun we had when you watch the film. I dare someone not to grin the whole way through the movie. We thoroughly enjoyed our photo shoot with you at Mel’s Drive-in, did you have as much fun as we did? Yes! That was so much fun! I love 1950’s era so much. It was kind of a dream come true doing a shoot like this. Which style did you like the best and why? I really can’t choose. They were all really fun looks. You are totally suited to the 1950’s era, would you say this is an era that you particularly connect with? Yes, I connect with the 50’s era look. I think dresses were made so well back then. They really followed the woman’s form and accentuated the beautiful and sexy things about the woman’s figure. I also love the hair and makeup from the 50’s. The hair especially was always a sculpted work of art. It’s always really fun to dress up and imagine myself in another era! What is next for Sarah Drew? Do you have anything else you wish to share with our readers? The biggest thing that I’d love to promote is my movie Moms’ Night Out which will hit theaters May 9th. Be sure to check out the website.
Where can we follow you?

ulture is an ever-changing phenomenon; few trends ever really last. Try to compliment your friends by telling them they’re “totally far out.” A popped collar at a nightclub will get everyone to notice you, but not for the right reasons. Most trends never outlive their own decade, but there’s something about cruising down the main boulevard in a 56’ Chevy Bel Air on a Saturday night that has stuck around. You hear the songs of Chuck Berry, Elvis Presley, Buddy Holly and you wonder what it must have been like. What was it like to cruise with your friends and pull into a drive-in for dinner and a movie? Just one year after the original Mel’s closed its doors, George Lucas’s American Graffiti hit movie theaters and was met with international acclaim. The support of the film proved a sort of timeless quality surrounding postWorld War Two American culture. In 1985, almost thirteen years after his father sold the original franchise, Steven Weiss opened the doors to the second generation of Mel’s Drive-in. His Father didn’t understand why he wanted to bring back the drive-in restaurant concept, but he opened the doors in the first San Francisco location. Much to the surprise of him and his partner Donald Wagstaff, there was a line waiting for tables that stretched out of the door.
46
Word got out that Mels had opened up from a local columnist who loved the concept. George Lucas himself made his way to Mels drive-in and sent large behind-the-scenes backdrop images of American Graffiti to renovate the restaurant. Since the very first day the restaurant opened, Steven Weiss has heard thousands of different versions of the same stories. Countless couples first started dating at Mel’s and wanted to relive their younger years with their kids and their grandchildren. Mel’s has expanded internationally, including three Southern Californian locations, four Northern Californian Locations, and across the globe to Singapore and beyond. While the sounds, styles and the tastes of the 50’s have been immortalized in the restaurant chain, every business has to evolve to survive. You don’t necessarily think of kale salads when you think of the time period, but it’s become a popular menu item alongside the traditional burgers, shakes and fries. Steven aims to keep up with current tastes, preserve the traditional cuisine, and make it new at the same time. Similarly, he always keeps renovation and design ideas in mind for giving Mels locations a new, old look. Regardless, you can expect quality service, the highest ingredients, and a meticulously clean restaurant.

We knew we wanted a 50’s themed shoot for our pin-up girl Sarah Drew before we even had a set location. When trying to find the perfect spot for her vintage polka-dotted dress to match, we stumbled across the perfect location with Mel’s Drive-in on Sunset. As it turns out, Mel’s Drive-in on Sunset has a history that precedes the franchise, remaining essentially unchanged since the 1950’s. The “googie-style” building used to be a favorite Hollywood hangout called Ben Frank’s, feeding luminaries like The Rolling Stones and Andy Warhol in its day. After decades as a Hollywood hangout, Ben Frank’s had to close its doors and the landlord was left with an empty, out-of-date, odd-looking building. The only thing stopping the landlord from tearing the building down to build a strip mall was the city of West Hollywood, which wanted to preserve the location as a historical landmark. When Steven came along and made an offer for the building for his 1950’s style restaurant, they simply called him “A Godsend.” The rest, as they say, is history.

merican icon, singer, musician, producer, actor, dancer, author, radio personality, talk and gameshow host… there’s nothing the man hasn’t done. Donny Osmond is the seventh of eleven brothers and sisters. Along with Alan, Wayne, Merril, and Jay, the Osmond Brothers caught the attention of Andy Williams’ Father on a Disneyland Televised Special as a barbershop quartet. After a successful audition, the group performed on The Andy Williams Show and quickly skyrocketed to popularity. The Osmonds went on to become one of the most successful touring groups in the early seventies, selling over 80 million records in a single 12-month period. He’s been in the public eye since early childhood and holds a record that stands to this day for “Most Hearts Melted” in a single musical performance. After 5 decades on the stage, he hasn’t lost an ounce of love for perfomrance and hasn’t missed a beat. “Donny and Marie” has earned three of the Las Vegas Review-Journal’s Best of Las Vegas Awards in 2012, including “Best Show,” “Best All-Around Performer” (Donny & Marie), and “Best Singer (Donny-2012, 2013).” We at Naluda had the chance to ask Donny what it’s like living the life of show business, father, husband, and now, interior designer.
48
What was life like growing up in the Osmond house? Was it competitive with 8 siblings? Growing up in a family of 11 (Father, Mother, Virl, Tom, Alan, Wayne, Merrill, Jay, Me, Marie and Jimmy) meant that there was always someone there to talk to. Was it competitive? Only during dinner time when seconds were offered. How old were you when you started performing? Where did the journey to stardom begin for you? I was 5 years old when I debuted on The Andy Williams Show. So, I suppose you could say the journey began there. It’s taken a lot of turns with ups and downs, but it’s a roller coaster ride I will never quit. Was there anything else you wanted to be when you were growing up? An electrician. In fact,I used to love building kits and trinkets that involved electricity in my youth.. Who inspires you the most both in music and in life? There are a few people that come to mind, but Stevie Wonder is one of my favorites. Life is literally nonstop for you! Your performances at The Flamingo Las Vegas, your 60th album coming out this fall… you’ve achieved so much! What does a typical day look like for you? I get up a little later than most since I perform late into the evening at The Flamingo, so by about 7 a.m. I’ll go to the gym. During the day, it’s not uncommon for me to be on my phone with calls and e-mails. I’m currently spending a lot of time in the soundbooth cutting vocals for my upcoming album. What can fans expect from your show when coming to visit you in Las Vegas? Marie and I are celebrating our 6th year in Las Vegas; I think that kind of success comes from exceeding the expectations people have when they come to see our show. It is a high energy show and set in a traditional Vegas Showroom, which helps the audience feel like they are literally in the middle of the performance. How do you like to relax and unwind? I either watch a good movie or read a book to unwind. Lately, I’ve found a couple of great pieces of literature. Your success has taken you around the globe, what has been the highlight of your career so far? Today has been the highlight of my career. I’ve been in the entertainment business for 50 years, and if there is one thing I’ve learned, it’s this: “This industry can make you king for a day, but turn on you in the next. Therefore, work hard for every success, but don’t forget to be grateful.”
49
50
How do you define your personal style? I like to be comfortable in whatever setting I’m in. On stage, it’s nothing but class; I love wearing a great suit. At home, give me some jeans and a t-shirt. What’s your favorite meal and where do you like to have it? Chicken enchiladas in our Provo, Utah kitchen. Debbie makes the most amazing chicken enchiladas. What’s the last thing you bought for yourself that you really love? A helicopter. I absolutely love it; I fly it at least twice a week and buzz the neighborhood. I’m also getting pretty proficient at maneuvering it through trees, but I would love to learn how to do flips. Did I mention it’s a remote control helicopter? What’s the thing you’d really love to buy next? A new helicopter. I’m not a very good remote control pilot. Where’s your favorite place in the world? Home. I’ve traveled the world over – multiple times. Dorothy said it best, “There is no place like home.” What’s your oldest possession, something you would hate to part with?
How does it feel to be a pop icon to so many moms on an International level?
I have a box in my basement that I just cannot throw away. It has all of my original purple socks in it.
I meet a lot of those “International Moms” when they come to see my show at the Flamingo Hotel in Las Vegas. I’m very grateful for all my fans and to have a lasting career in entertainment.
What’s something about you most people would be surprised to hear?
Tell us more about the DOH Brand.
At this point in my career, I’ve surprised a lot of people with all the different things I’ve done: TV, radio, theater, touring, race car driving, boxing…however, I think the most surprising is that my wife, Debbie and I have gone into home furnishings. I love this new expression of creativity.
Donny Osmond Home conveys a rustic simplicity with charm and modern flair. The collection brings warmth and comfort home again, featuring antiqued hues and finishes updated with trending colors and textures. It delivers big on the brand message of “Making Home & Family #1” by creating an environment that encourages families to spend more time together.
How will you be celebrating Mother’s Day this year with your wife Debbie and all the children/grandchildren? Mother’s Day is a very special day. I’ll be home with Debbie just spending quality time together. While some of my children/grandchildren won’t be celebrating with us in person because they live on opposite coasts, I’m sure we’ll be video calling all of them. How important do you think it is for us to look after our moms? I have a deep rooted respect for mothers, especially my mother. She, along with my father, taught me important principles that help me govern my life today. You know, if we’re honest with ourselves, mothers play an integral role establishing the foundations of society. They leave an indelible impression with the children they raise, and those children become our leaders.
Where can we purchase the line? Visit DonnyOsmond.com for a variety of online sellers, participating retailers and dealers searchable at the WHERE TO BUY link on each category page. The collection has just launched to retailers this past January, so product is arriving now to retail locations across the U.S. The brand message is “family” can you share more about that? Debbie and I have consistently maintained “home and family” as a priority in our lives. The brand message is an extension of who we are. It validates “home” as a place where “family focus” cultivates strong bonds, traditions, and interactions that inspire a lifetime of happiness, security and peace. Our blogs at DonnyOsmond.com offer creative ideas for home design, discussion of social issues facing families today, and great activity ideas for you and your family.

he 2013-14 regular season was full of major accomplishments for the Anaheim Ducks, finishing with the top record (54-20-8) in the Western Conference for the first time in in Franchise History. While seeded no.1 against the Dallas Stars (no. 4), the Stars played a very hard series against the Ducks in round 1 of the playoffs. The Dallas Stars were up 4-2 after two periods of play in game six, and it looked like the Stars were going to force the series to a tie-breaking game 7. However, Nick Bonino and Davonte Smith-Pelley scored the goals necessary to send the Stars packing in Dallas and advanced the Ducks to round two of the playoffs. We at Naluda had the chance to interview team favorites goaltender Jonas Hiller and winger Patrick Maroon as they take a short break from playoff preparation.

NUMBER: 62 HEIGHT: 6’ 3” WEIGHT: 230 SHOOTS: LEFT BORN: APR 23, 1988 (AGE 26) BIRTHPLACE: ST. LOUIS, MO, UNITED STATES DRAFTED: PHI / 2007 NHL ENTRY DRAFT ROUND: 6TH (161ST OVERALL)
NUMBER: 1 HEIGHT: 6’ 2” WEIGHT: 192 CATCHES: RIGHT BORN: FEB 12, 1982 (AGE 32) BIRTHPLACE: FELBEN WELLHAUSEN, SWITZERLAND ACQUIRED: SIGNED AS A FREE AGENT ON MAY 25, 2007 Jonas Hiller is the Primary Goaltender for the Anaheim Ducks. Before making his start in the NHL, The Swiss Native won Switzerland’s championship in 2002, 2005, and 2007 as well as the Spengler Cup in 2004 and 2006. He was picked up by the Anaheim Ducks in May of 2007 and showed early signs of excellent goal-tending. This earned him the back-up spot behind then primary goaltender Jean-Sebastian Gigure. Now entering his sixth NHL season with the Ducks, he earned an impressive 5 shut outs in the regular season for the Ducks and recorded a club record of 14 straight victories. Here’s what the man behind the mask had to say: Why do you ultimately prefer butterfly-style goaltending? The butterfly style is what I prefer because in today’s game, positioning is so important. There are so many screens and tips that a reaction style makes it very difficult to make saves. The butterfly allows goalies to be in a better position to make the save on shots in close.
Hailing from St. Louis, Patrick Maroon is a mountain of a man at 230 pounds. And at 6’3’’+ skates, he’s the last man you want to see coming at you on the ice. He’s earned an impressive 62 points ( 11 Goals, 18 assists) during the regular 2013-14 season. What’s your favorite sport to play other than ice hockey? Baseball. What’s the best team travel jet lag cure? Drinking lots of water. What is the Best part of moving to the West Coast from St. Louis? Going outside and the temperature is 80 degrees. The beach is also a plus. What is the Worst part of moving to the West Coast from St. Louis? Being away from my son What’s your favorite post-game meal? Penne Vodka Chicken.
Who designs your masks? I have a partnership with the same guy that has been painting my mask for a long time. We both have input on the designs, but for some of the specialty ones, he puts more ideas into it. The Stadium Series mask and the Mighty Ducks mask, I just gave him a theme and he designed the rest of it. What is the hardest part of goaltending that most people don’t realize? The fact that you have no room for error, I would say, is the hardest part of goaltending.

1. You’re a big fan of Depeche Mode. What’s your favorite album and why? I think my favorite Depeche Mode album is “Some Great Reward.” The album talks of personal challenges and “People are People” is probably one of the greatest songs of all time. I feel like this album really made people take the band seriously and understand that this was more than just great music, it’s also a great story. 2. How is the music scene in Israel different from what you find in the states? I would say the music scene in Israel is wonderful! As far as the differences go, it’s a lot smaller than the states. Everyone knows everyone. If you work in music in Israel you probably know every producer, studio musician, song-writer etc. In the states, there are so many different players in the music industry and it’s more of a choose your own adventure vibe.

wice nominated for the Israeli Oscars, winner of the Israeli Tony Award, actress on the Showtime hit series Weeds, and now debuting her new album I’m In Hate With Love, Meital Dohan has seen and done it all in entertainment. The driven singer/actor/radio host took time out of her hectic schedule to share some thoughts with us on life, music, and acting with a monkey. Here’s what “The Next Triple Threat” has to say:
66
3. What is your creative process for songwriting? What inspires you? I don’t have one process, but I usually have to be in a very intense head space to create. That could mean I’m in a really emotional place or a really happy place. It’s usually from a heightened sensitivity to the world around me that makes me think of lyrics. The lyric kind of comes to me with the melody inside of it, so I’ll just start singing. I’ll scribble down my ideas and that’s the canvas, the backbone to the song I’ll end up writing. Things start to really take shape in the studio where I can experiment with different instruments, sounds etc. 4.You participated in a student exchange program to the U.S. in your teens. What do you remember most about your first trip to America? My short adventure in America when I was 16 was actually the experience that made me decide to be an actor. I started acting when I was 13 and didn’t act for half a year when I was in the states. That’s when I realized that acting is the thing I love the most and became an actor. 5. You share a number of shots with a monkey in the “Give Us Back Love” music video. What advice would you give for an actor sharing a scene with a monkey? I would recommend taking a bath with your pet monkey a day before the shoot, and you shouldn’t spoil them too much with hair and makeup. Sometimes they feel like they’re the star of the show and come with too many demands. However, Cecile, my pet monkey, behaved herself most of the time. That is except for when she was spanking me on the highway. Ouch! 6. In 2010 you became the official spokesperson for “Artists 4 Israel.” Tell us about what “Artists 4 Israel” does and why you became their spokesperson. Artists 4 Israel was attractive to me as a cause because they used street art to spread messages of peace and hope. I think it’s important for artists to enact change. Since then, I’ve joined the cause “Friends of Sheba.” It’s the largest medical center in the middle east and it’s goal is to help people of every color, religion and race. It’s all about people having access to great health care and living harmoniously amongst one another.
7. On top of acting, theater and music, you’ve written a book called “Love and Other Bad Habits” and hosted the radio show “Loud Miracles.” How do you manage so many creative outlets? I should probably arrange for a body double that could sleep for me! I wish that was possible. I manage all my creative outlets by giving each one my total focus in the moment. When I’m in the studio singing, I give that my total attention. When I’m working on my poetry, that has my focused eye. Everything becomes manageable when you’re able to focus and be present in every moment. 8. If you could collaborate with any artist, past or present, who would it be? I think my dream would be to collaborate with Bob Marley. He enacted so much change and used music for a higher good. To me that’s the true goal of art, so it would be an honor to collaborate with someone of that caliber and genius! 9. You’ve talked about the benefits of transcendental meditation on your radio show. Where did you first get an interest in transcendental meditation? I had the pleasure of meeting Bob Roth in a charity event a few years ago. He’s the head of the David Lynch Foundation and the Transcendental Meditation Foundation. Bobby became a good friend and spiritual guide. I started practicing a few years ago and got my family into it. Now, I’m working with the Sheba hospital and they’re providing TM as a complimentary service to veterans from all races and religions. 10. Between everything you do, what can Meital fans expect for the future? There’s so much going on right now! I am finishing my album and working on a TV pilot and feature film. Expect a total shark attack by summer.

Listen up Hot Mamas! It’s easy to become a bombshell beauty by adhering to a disciplined diet, exercise and beauty regimen. However, there’s a woman who is even sexier than a Bombshell. She’s a Momshell! By definition; A Momshell is a hot mom or mother-to-be, who gets her pre-baby (bombshell) body back into shape while at the same time achieving the newfound sexiness that only comes with being a mother! Why are Momshells so incredibly amazing? Because being pregnant is no cakewalk! Pregnancy takes a huge toll on a woman’s body while carrying a baby to birth. As the belly grows, a pregnant woman will make major adjustments to her posture, which disrupts the alignment of her entire body and places significant strain on her joints and muscles. Many pregnant women feel aches and pains in their back, abdomen, and pelvis due to the pressure of the baby’s head, the weight gain, and loosening joints. Pregnancy causes lightheadedness and dizziness either because the uterus is expanding and placing pressure on an increasing amount of blood vessels, or because the body is signaling a need for food. It’s no wonder why pregnant women are tired and irritable! However, a mother-to-be who is experiencing all of these symptoms has a choice in terms of how to approach her pregnancy. A momshell handles it like a true warrior!
68
A momshell always listens to her body during her pregnancy, acknowledges all of the discomforts of pregnancy, and after consulting with her physician, begins a safe and appropriate exercise program. She listens to her body, never over-exerts, paces herself, and she always makes sure to breathe in a way that she is able to carry on a conversation during her workouts. A momshell knows that exercise will make her body stronger and help get her through labor and delivery more easily. Don’t use your aches and pains as an excuse not to exercise, consult your physician, do your homework, hit the gym and defy all of the following exercise & pregnancy myths: MYTH: Pregnant women should avoid all abdominal exercises. Not true. It is ok to work your abdomnials while you’re pregnant, they just need to be exercised differently! Familiarize yourself with the transverse abdominis muscles because they will eventually help push the baby to delivery! Learn to perform the plank as well as a variety of safe, standing-core exercises. MYTH: Exercising during pregnancy causes miscarriage. Not true. In fact, the ACOG recommends pregnant women exercise for at least 30 minutes per day. A momshell knows that a little exercise can help alleviate her morning sickness and minimize overall pain and fatigue. Embrace daily exercise with a smile!
MYTH: If she didn’t exercise before pregnancy, she shouldn’t begin now. Not true. While it’s a shame “she” wasn’t exercising to begin with, she can become a momshell by adopting physical activity, starting NOW, into her daily routine. Of course, consult with a physician for specific guidelines and proceed slowly. Regardless, anytime is better than no time,to begin exercising. Exercise during pregnancy will deter excess weight gain and decrease the risk of high blood pressure. It will also prevent the onset of gestational diabetes which can cause type II diabetes later in life. Also, for baby and mom’s sake, exercise during pregnancy means the baby is less likely to be born with macrosomia. Macrosomia (“Big Baby Syndrome”) is a condition in which babies weigh at least 8 pounds, 13 ounces or more, at birth. Macrosomia puts the baby at risk of injury, jaundice and respiratory distress during delivery, while mom is at risk of injury and damage to her birth canal. Bottom line: Exercise before, during and after pregnancy! MYTH: “Eating for two” means it’s ok to double the calories False!!! Most pregnant women only require 300 additional calories per day, for the baby. Pregnant does not equal fat! Here is a breakdown of the excess weight of a healthy pregnant momshell: Baby: 6 to 8 pounds Placenta: 1½ pounds Amniotic fluid: 2 pounds Uterus growth: 2 pounds Breast growth: 2 pounds Mom’s blood and body fluids: 8 pounds Mom’s protein and fat: 7 pounds A momshell will know her target Body Mass Index (BMI) prior to becoming pregnant so that she can pre-determine where she stands; healthy, overweight or underweight. With that number in mind, follow The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) guidelines: A. Women at a “healthy weight” before pregnancy should gain about 25 to 30 pounds during pregnancy. B. Women “underweight” before pregnancy should gain between 28 and 40 pounds during pregnancy. C. Women “overweight” before pregnancy should gain between 15 and 25 pounds during pregnancy. Now that Baby Has Arrived!.... When can a new mom begin working out like she did back in her bombshell days? Once again, consult your physician for the green light before hitting the gym. Typical postpartum timing is anywhere between 4-8 weeks. This really depends on certain factors, such as whether or not vaginal bleeding has stopped and whether the delivery was vaginal or c-section. Momshells who exercised during pregnancy are usually thrilled to learn they are given the green light to return to the gym quite soon after delivery.
Back in the Gym: Be mindful of your body and post-delivery limitations as you gradually approach your exercise program. Continue working your abs with isometric work (Pilates) and transverse contractions rather than attempting quick military sit-ups. With physician’s approval, carefully begin your cardio routine. If she’s a runner, a momshell takes it slowly. She knows better than to run fast and far right out of the gate. Instead, she begins a run-walk-run routine to pace herself. She also investigates and attends reputable, post-baby workout programs such as “Mommy and Me,” “Happy Baby,” and “Baby Boot Camp.” There a plenty of fun classes to explore and lots of other Momshells to meet! In terms of your diet, start to eliminate excessive carbohydrates. However, if you are breastfeeding, do not restrict your caloric intake or decrease milk supply. Add 350-500 calories to your daily intake for a happy and healthy baby and mommy! Years Later... Everyone will be asking: “How does she do it?” That’s because a momshell is active, fit and has no problem chasing after her 5-year old! She is in excellent shape and has more energy today than ever before. She maintains a healthy diet primarily of protein and greens and exercises daily; incorporating regular cardio, strength training, balance and flexibility exercises into her workout program. She maintains balance in her life and is now a full-fledged MOMSHELL!!! Happy Mother’s Day to all of the Beautiful Momshells out there! Keep up the good work! You have taken the term “bombshell” to an entirely new level! Congratulations!

icture yourself in your very own brand new Bugatti: the wind is blowing in your face, every other motorist is dead in your dust, and you bury the accelerator into the floor to show the lady in the passenger seat what it really means to drive a sports car. All four cylinders are blazing, the car is climbing to top speed and before you know it, you are blazing down the road at one hundred miles an hour.

While those performance stat’s may seem laughable by today’s standards, the Bugatti Type 18 “Black Bess” was the fastest road vehicle in its day (1912-1914). At its heart was an impressive 5 liter, 4-cylinder in-line engine with 100 mm bore and 160 mm stroke, a crankshaft mounted on three bearings and an overhead camshaft. So much about auto-design and manufacturing has changed in a hundred years of technological advancement, but titles are timeless. The Bugatti Vitesse “Black Bess” is the fastest production roadster ever built, flashing to 62.137mph in just 2.6 seconds and reach top speeds of over 250 mph.

Exterior The modern Black Bess is constructed completely out of carbon fiber and painted totally black with unmistakable gold-colored accents. Some of the body’s components are coated in 24-carat gold, including the striking Bugatti horseshoe that gleams against the background of the black front grill. Gold-colored stripes start below the headlights and radiate out over the front wings towards the rear before tapering off at the end of the door line. A gold finish is also seen in the EB insignia on the rear of the vehicle and the hub covers on the black rims, bearing the initials of founder Ettore Bugatti. The Tank and oil caps have been engraved with the “Black Bess” nameplate and elegantly finished with gold paint.
Interior The belly of the beast has extreme attention to detail characteristic of all vehicles produced in the Bugatti Legends Series. The headliner, footwell, seats, elongated center console and rear bulkhead are covered in a light beige tone, with the dashboard, dash panel, door trim panel and cowl panel offering a discreet contrast with “Havanna” tones. Clad in red-crimson leather, the steering wheel rim draws a clear reference to the historic Type 18 “Black Bess.” This accent has also been picked up and continued in the red decorative stitching on the outer bolsters of the seats and in the seat belts. The door panels are one of the most impressive parts of the interior, depicting scenes of the historic Type 18. The sketches have been hand-painted directly onto the leather just like the luxury components of Bugatti vehicles were in the early 1920’s. The images are protected by a new special ink and impregnation process to preserve the artistic image. The selector lever and center console are made of high-quality rosewood, and additional gold accents can be found throughout the interior. The gold EB insignia is displayed on the cover of the rear storage compartment, finished in beige leather and complete with another hand-painted motif. In all, the tradition of strong attention to the detail and special care to Buggati vehicles has been preserved with “Black Bess.” She’s the fifth model of six in the Bugatti Legends Series commemorated to significant people and accomplishments in the history of the automaker. “Black Bess” joins the ranks of Legends Models dedicated to Jean-Piere Wimille, Jean Bugatti, Meo Costantini, and Rembrandt Bugatti. The demand for the unique series is proof positive of their quality automobiles. Even at the price of about $3 million, all previous legend series cars have already been sold! Word is that the sixth and final Bugatti Legends car will be unveiled at Pebble Beach in August; who knows who’ll be commemorated next?
