If form follows fiction, we could think of architecture and buildings as a space of stories -- stories of the people that live there, of the people that work in these buildings. And we could start to imagine the experiences our buildings create. - Ole Scheeren

Menteng Park Bintaro Jaya | Identity Formation in the

Design of Public Spaces in Bintaro Jaya

2021 | Abstract Final Thesis Typology: Public Space Support Team: Septian Harits Hilmi Nabila h Putri Ramadhani

According to Jan Gehl, city life can be said to be successful if it has the character of a party— people stay in it longer than they should, because they enjoy it. One of the reasons why people can enjoy the city is the interaction, gathering and involvement of the community in it. Bintaro Jaya as one of the independent cities in Indonesia, which has a goal to provide convenience for the basic needs of life, indirectly reduces the quality of diversity in it. The decreasing diversity is shown by the occurrence of gentrification in Bintaro Jaya, which separates the people of Bintaro Jaya from the people around Bintaro Jaya. In fact, diversity is one of the important factors in generating social and interaction in an area. Based on the above phenomenon, it is necessary to have a forum that is able to stimulate such social and interaction. This race is presented through the formation of identity and diversity of uses in public spaces. Identity is presented by prioritizing history, community activities, culture and the surrounding environment. While the diversity of use is presented through different uses in one place and use at different times.

Architecture: Pandemic + Urban Resilience

2020 | Abstract Academic Studio The purpose of this design is to answer: What if, in the next 5 years, COVID-19 Pandemic still exist? Typology: Public Space

Through the eyes of city resilience, this COVID-19 pandemic can be said to be a test, or a shock to the world; In this context it is a city. The pandemic caused the quality in the city to be shaken, one of which was in the health and economic sectors. With conditions like this, it is a golden opportunity to rebuild the city. One way to improve body health and maintain immunity is to be happy. Scientific evidence says that being happy can have a huge impact on health. Being happy can help promote a healthy life, fight stress, boost immunity, maintain a healthy heart and reduce pain. What’s more, being happy can increase life expectancy. A preposition emerges: What if in the next 5 years, during a pandemic, the entertainment sector is almost extinct and public health begins to decline, so a marriage between the two is needed? This preposition then answered by trying to emerge a park; a healthy environment, with an entertainment function, so that both activities could exist in the same place.

Taman Tunggu PWK ITS | Lomba Desain ICON - Department of Urban and Regional Planning of Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember, Surabaya.

2017 | Abstract Competition Man in essence needs to gain recognition. Entry Anything related to humans also needs The purpose of this competition is to create icon design and triangle park near PWK ITS parking area and give innovation of Icon making materials with budget already provided. recognition. One of them recognition of an institution or organization. The recognition of an organization can be shown in a visual or verbal object, but can have and be the hallmark of what it claims to be. Similarly, a Department needs to have distinctive features and recognition. In the field of Architecture, this recognition can be created in visual form. The shape of an architectural object can serve as a useful landmark in characterizing or representative. The purpose of this design is how the Triangle Park area near the PWK Department of ITS can be a representative, recognition and characteristic for PWK ITS in the form of architectural object that is suitable with the land and useful for the people of PWK Department of ITS. This design was approached by analysing the needs of PWK Department, and a suitable function of the object. “Waiting shelter” is our respond of the issue.

Competition: EATING - Alternative Design for Restaurants

2018 | Abstract International Ab initio, eating was only needed to survive and Competition restaurant was a mere place to restore energy. Entry You read the menu, choose the meal, order, The aim of the “Eating” competition is to develop a design proposal for the restaurant typology, intended as a place of preparation and consumption of food. eat, pay, and leave. But beyond that, soon, we might see that eating is no more an activity to keep living. We see food, cooking, and eating as a form of entertainment. Hence, food is an art object, restaurant is an art venue, the kitchen is a performing stage, chefs are the performers, and cooking is a form of dance. Visualize a restaurant, but it does not offer any menu. We pick our own ingredients from a machine, then the chefs are challenged to decide what food would be served. The kitchen, which is the main stage, showered in beautiful lighting while watching the ingredients “dancing” on the hands of talented chefs. The stage is surrounded by many large monitors, providing many angles of details to see “the dance”. Then foods are served with stage lighting, focus on the food as if it is a shining star. Finally, take part on the last stage of entertainment by eating them with full enjoyment after watching series of art performances.

Lib n’ Shop | Personal Space in

Commercial Building

2018 | Abstract Academic Studio The objective of this project is to design 2-3 floors of architecture, in which the students should be able to present the continuity between the human personal space (private space, personal space, social space and public space) in architectural design with commercial functions and is expected to form synergies with quality good space as well as showing a new order that impacts the quality and image of an area in the city. Typology: Library and Bookshop

The personal space is a distance to communicate, where the distance between individuals is also the distance communicate. Commercial buildings desperately need the proper processing of human space for the convenience of interacting and spatial urgency, as well as producing a new quality of space as an image for a city. Scale in the realm of architectural design can lead to the impression of a human being as a user of a design work. Taking into account the scale of people in designing students is expected to be able to bring a certain atmosphere to be achieved through the design of architectures with commercial functions. Located in Mulyosari, Surabaya, Lib N Shop is here to answer the needs of mulyosari residents in providing learning facilities for students and students. The library wrapped with the bookstore is expected to fulfill this. The human scale used in the design process of this architectural object is to use the 5x5 meter module method, with the various module types with the space requirements of each.

Architecture Competition: DYING Alternative Design for Cemetery

2018 | Abstract International Time heals every wound. Let them go home, for Competition the memory of them will live forever inside you. Entry With the rise of land occupancy issues, this The aim of the “thinking” competition is to develop a design proposal for the cemetery typology. tower exists, not just to solve the issue, but also providing a ‘home’ for the deceased. Humans come from the earth and will come back to the earth.

Pots with the deceased’s ashes hanging from above, stringing down in a chaotic yet orderly manner, each representing their remaining time for the people they left in this world. Every visit, every grieving moment the people spent with their pot will hasten the pot’s journey to their home. Once the pot touches the ground, no more grieving would be allowed. Chronological order of a visit would be people coming to this tower, getting the information about their deceased’s pot location using a device given by the officer; go to the respective pot’s height by the ramp; then using the device given to call the desired pot according to the calling station’s position. After that, people would place cemetery flowers in the pot that will act as a fertilizer to the plant inside, which later would grow and weigh the pot until it finally reaches the ground.
