INSIGHT INTO FREEDOM
Mansi Sharma MA in Mass Communication, Writer
The meaning of the word freedom varies from person to person. For a hungry person, every morsel of food is a means of freedom from hunger. For an African man, freedom means free from domination on ethnic grounds. According to Russian philosopher consensus means freedom. There is real freedom of release from prison for life imprisonment. Death is the only measure of freedom for a person suffering from incurable and admirable illness. The meaning of freedom for me is different from all this. The accepted definition of freedom is 'absence of restrictions'. I also believe in it. In many areas of life, which do not directly affect others, I want to live in them as I wish. Such as food, clothing and interests etc., personal aspects of my life like education, business or marriage. I will undoubtedly seek advice from my family members on all these, but the choice will ultimately be mine that kind of freedom, I believe. When I stepped into a wide world after getting education, I found that policy provides real freedom related to political, social and economic aspects of life. I am very happy to be a citizen of the world's largest democratic country. Here every citizen enjoys political freedom and fundamental rights but we have to follow the fundamental duties as well that’s the other side of the coin in our constitution.

The food of one person should not become poison for another, that is, the rights of one person should not be an obstacle to the rights of another person. This system is possible only when freedom is coordinated with discipline. No one can succeed in achieving freedom if the students start demanding freedom of copying, political parties to spread chaos in common life, people of criminal tendency to fulfil their personal interests, freedom of their antisocial activities.
Therefore, many types of laws, rules and conditions are required to maintain discipline. I prefer the freedom of self discipline than the above charged discipline.
