W.S.I. Water Safety Instructor Course

This American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Course demonstrates how to teach Red Cross swimming lessons and set up lesson plans. If you have a desire to become a swimming instructor then this is the perfect class for you. Course prerequisites are 25 yards in the following 6 strokes: front crawl, backcrawl, breaststroke, butterfly, sidestroke, and elementary backstroke. If you are unsure whether you can complete the prerequisites, sign up for a skills evaluation. Refund request must be made 4 business days before start of class. Session I: October 10-29 First Saturday, 10am-4pm Remaining days, Tuesday & Thursday, 4:30-8pm Session II: December 27-30 11am-6pm Nampa Rec Center Member $150, Non-Member $200

American Red Cross Lifeguarding

This course is designed for experienced swimmers ages 15 and older that want to become Red Cross Lifeguards. Advanced skills are taught and information about lifesaving techniques will be presented. Lifeguard, CPR and First Aid certifications are awarded upon successful completion of the course. Course prerequisites are: 300 yard swim using front crawl and breaststroke, retrieval of a 10 pound brick from 7ft of water and two minutes of treading water with no hands. If you are unsure whether you can complete the prerequisites, sign up for a skills evaluation. Refund request must be made 4 business days before start of class. Pumpkin Plunge

Celebrate the spooky season with a twist, join us for our very first Pumpkin Plunge! Plunge into the pool for the great pumpkin hunt, fun games, races and pumpkin themed activities. Ages 6-13 October 30 6-9pm Member $4, Non-Member $8 Pre-registration encouraged

Adaptive Swim Lessons

Our Adaptive Swim Lesson Program is for children and adults with special needs that may not be met through traditional swim lessons. The goal of this program is to provide students with a structured aquatic experience designed to make them feel comfortable and safe while swimming. If interested, fill out an Adaptive Lesson Request form, available on the “Programs” page on our website or at the NRC program desk.

Which Class?

• Each child must pass a particular level and granted a Red Cross Card before proceeding to the next level. • All age requirements must be followed unless instructor’s approval has been granted. • It is not uncommon for a child to stay in a particular level for several sessions before successful completion. • Classes missed for vacation, injury, sickness or any other reason cannot be made up and are nonrefundable.

Splash N’ Dash

We do the splashing… parents do the dashing! Parents, enjoy a Friday evening with each other while we actively entertain your children in the pools! For 4 hours our certified lifeguard and lesson staff will be in the water actively supervising, playing water games and having a blast swimming around. With those 4 hours enjoy dinner and a movie, get things caught up around the house, or just enjoy a relaxing night. Pre-registration is required. Children must be potty trained. Open Paddle Time Kayaks & Paddle Boards

Paddle the night away in our Lap Pool. Call the Front Desk to reserve your spot. Bring your own or rent one for $2 an hour. An adult must accompany children 12 and under, must pass swim test prior to use. Kayak Fridays 7:15-9:30pm Paddle Board Sundays 11am-1pm

Paddle Boarding 101

Learn the basics and be up and paddling in no time. Our intro to paddle boarding will cover introduction to equipment, safety, proper paddle usage, stance techniques and basic footwork, board maneuvers and best practices for getting on and off the board, all taught be a certified PSUPA instructor. Stand up paddle boarding requires leg strength and the ability to balance. Participants should be confident in their ability to balance themselves in a standing position. Paddle Boarding 102

This class will help take students who have successfully taken Paddle Boarding 101 to the next level. Learn more advanced turn techniques, more paddle fundamentals, and students will be introduced to basic board footwork.
