American Red Cross Swimming Lessons

Taught by certified American Red Cross Water Safety Instructors. To view class descriptions, visit the “Aquatics” page on our website or stop by the Rec Center.

Learn-to-Swim is designed for children 6 and up. The classes that fall under this branch are Levels 1-6. The objectives of the American Red Cross Learn-to-Swim courses are to teach children and young teens to be safe in, on and around the water and the fundamentals of swimming. Aquatic skills are taught in a logical progression through six levels. Participants in Level 1 are oriented to the aquatic environment and gain some basic skills in each category. As they progress through the levels, participants build on their basic skills to learn and refine various swimming strokes.

Skills Evaluation

Unsure of what level your child should be placed in? Sign your child up for a 5-10 minute skills evaluation with a certified instructor who will recommend an appropriate level.
