Nanci Cook

(Warren Beatty) Art evokes the mystery without which the world would not exist.-Magritte Nanci Cook grew up in Pennsauken, New Jersey, without much artistic encouragement, but with an independent nature and strong will. She eventually earned her B.A. in Arts & Crafts and their History at University of California Santa Cruz and moved to make pottery on Hornby Island in 1977, and again to Quadra Island in 1991. Now Nanci is owner, manager, chef, artist and designer for the business she has created, Firesign Art & Design Studio and B&B. She mainly paints in acrylics, hosts artist/instructors and students for semi-private intensive painting workshops, and participates in the Quadra Island Studio Tour and Quadra Island Paint Out. She loves to paint outside when possible with delicious colours, forms and shapes that often reflect her background in pottery and are influenced by her love of island life
