Bradley Kenneth Jones CL ASS OF 1986

A veteran in the professional sports industry, Jones has worked for the National Basketball Association for 17 years. Jones got involved in sports during his freshman year at BGA. He contributed to the success of BGA’s basketball team his junior and senior years. During his junior year, he was a member of the State Tournament team. During his senior year, the team reached the Regional Championship. After graduation, he earned a biology degree from Lambuth University before receiving his master’s degree in kinesiology from the University of Memphis. While at Lambuth, Jones twice was named to the Tennessee Collegiate Athletic Conference All-Academic team. He received NAIA’s designation of a National Scholar-Athlete in 1990 and was also elected Lambuth Male Athlete of the Year. Jones combined his deeply rooted school pride with his affinity for sports when he returned to Lambuth as an assistant basketball coach. He was promoted to head basketball coach in 1997 and led Lambuth to many firsts, including its first NAIA National Tournament appearance and win. Jones was named Conference Coach of the Year in 1997 and 1998 and named to the Lambuth Sports Hall of Fame in 2010. Jones became an advanced scout with the Utah Jazz in 2002 while working as an instructor of kinesiology at Southeastern Louisiana University. In 2007, Jones became head coach of the D-League Utah Flash, then in 2010 was hired by the San Antonio Spurs to coach their D-League team, the Austin Toros. He led the Toros to the league championship in 2012 before joining the Jazz as an assistant in 2012. Over the next five years, he worked with the Jazz and Minnesota Timberwolves before his journey brought him back to Tennessee. In 2018, he was named head coach of the Memphis Hustle. In July 2019, Jones was hired as assistant coach of the Memphis Grizzlies. He and his wife, Lori, live in Lakeland with their three children, Justin, Isabella, and Jackson.

Brandon Scott Jones CL ASS OF 1989

Jones epitomizes the idea of the dedicated student-athlete. While at BGA, he earned 12 letters and served as captain on the football, basketball and baseball teams his senior year. He is the only BGA athlete to be named Most Valuable Player in three sports in one year — football, basketball and baseball in 1988–89 — and was named to numerous All-County, All District, All-Mid State and All-Region teams. Jones was a three-year starter on the football and basketball teams and a four-year starter in baseball. On the court, he scored over 1,200 points during his high school career, and on the field, Jones threw over 1,000 yards in his senior year alone. He was recognized senior year as Most Valuable BGA Male Athlete. Jones was elected to the Honor Council by the student body as a senior and received the Paul Guffee Award at graduation. His legacy continued at Lambuth University where he was named Male Athlete of the Year in 1992 and 1993. He played basketball there for three seasons, including as captain his senior year. He scored 1,235 points in his three-year career at Lambuth. He was also a member of the baseball team for two seasons and batted over .300 both years. While maintaining a busy private practice, he set aside time for research and education. He published over 100 scientific manuscripts in peer review journals and 26 book chapters. In 2018, he was inducted into the Society’s Sports Medicine Hall of Fame. He has been recognized with many prestigious awards and designations throughout his career including Nashville Business Journal’s Top Doctor 2014-15.
