Starry, Starry Night Almost a Masterpiece is one of Youth Bridge’s signature events held each year to highlight the importance of Art Therapy as a key psychotherapy service that provides an emotional and creative outlet for many of Youth Bridge’s clients. Art Therapy can reduce stress, help build social skills and solve behavioral management issues. Each year, celebrity artists are recruited to take the challenge, as well as, entries for amateur, youth, and professional divisions. Art is judged by a panel and ribbons are given for first, second and third place. Other awards include People’s Choice Award from the overall entries and an overall Most Creative Use of Materials. Awards will be a combination of cash prizes, trophies, ribbons, and gift cards among the three divisions. All art pieces will be auctioned off by silent auction at the event. This year there will be a live auction for selected pieces! The event includes adult beverages and heavy hors d’oeuvres, live music, a signature wine and/or mystery gift pull and raffle items. The rules are the same for all divisions: Each artist is supplied with a black, white and one random color of paint, two brushes and a canvas. The use of other materials such as lights, food coloring, cotton, string and music to create a multi-media piece of art or even a three-dimensional artwork is acceptable and encouraged. Creativity, skill, and a good imagination are what it takes to win the Most Creative Use of Materials! Please note: Artists may break the rules and find a professional artist or use another size canvas or additional acrylic paint other than what is provided. To break the rules, please donate $50.

Each participant will be provided one canvas, two brushes, and three paint colors (black, white, and one random). 1st, 2nd and 3rd place ribbons will be awarded to each age group for those who follow the challenge rules and theme. The theme is to use ANY artwork as inspiration. All art is done prior to the event and all entries must have a title and a full description of materials used to make other colors or used in the painting. For example: yellow food coloring or red fingernail polish was used; brown hair dye or tan make-up. Endless possibilities!
