Billing Information

Concern about the growing concentration of neighbourhood poverty in Peel Region is very real. In 2006, 15% of Peel’s population was living below the low-income cut-off. This was up significantly from 11.5% in 2001. Poverty is hitting our most vulnerable citizens hardest: single parents, racialized communities, recent immigrants, unattached seniors (especially women), and families with young children. With poverty on the rise, United Way is working on a neighbourhood development initiative to bring the issues front and centre, and to engage the people and agencies to fight back.
