Sweet Iced Tea No one makes it like the ladies in the south. I keep trying. Ingredients: 14 Tea bags 2 c. Water 1 c. Sugar 1/8 tsp. Baking soda Cold water Ice cubes Directions: Bring 2 cups water and 1 cup sugar to a boil in a large pot. While water is coming to a boil get the tea bags ready add to the pot. When the water/sugar mixture is boiling remove it from the heat and add the tea bags. Watch out! The tea bags might cause the water to bubble even more for a few seconds. Cover the pot and let the tea steep for at least 30 minutes. Discard the tea bags. Pour the “tea syrup into a gallon container. Fill the pitcher with water and ice.
Variations: o Replace sugar with Splenda for a zero calorie drink. o Try different flavored teas. o Use more tea bags for a stronger brew. o The longer the tea steeps the stronger the tea flavor. o Replace ½ the water with lemonade to make California Iced Tea. o Serve with a lemon wedge or mint sprig.
