10 TIPS FOR AN EFFECTIVE VIDEO INTERVIEW

Neither applicant nor employer is required to travel anywhere. Just be at your own place and connect for the conversation. All one needs is a device with internet connection. Here are our 10 tips to make video interview process more effective and productive for you:
1. Attire It may be tempting to dress only for what is visible on the screen. This is not a recommended idea. Even though you are not attending interview face to face, it is important to dress in complete formal attire.
2. Camera Before attending the interview, check the clarity of the camera. If you don’t have in-built camera option, book a seat in nearest internet cafe or purchase a web camera device in advance. Make sure you don’t have flaky signal.
3. Eye Contact Sometimes in Interview, when multiple interviewers are attending the process, it gets a bit confusing as to with whom to make an eye contact. The best trick here is to keep looking at the camera, while talking, and not on the screen.
4. Body Language
Body language is not just a part of face-to-face interview. Even in front of camera, your body language is visible on your face and expressions. So don’t neglect it. You have to look poised and polished and make sure that you are not nervous, hyperbolizing or flat out lying.
5. Sit Comfortably Best part about video interview is that you can sit anywhere comfortably and attend the interview. You can be in your own Kingdom, so it should not be giving any excess pressure or tension.
6. Say no to Intruders Knowingly or unknowingly there might be interruptions from your friends or family members. A ‘Do Not Disturb’ sign on the door is the most subtle way to keep away the intruders. Make sure to have mobile on silent mode and no other sound producing device in the vicinity.
7. Neat Surroundings The last night party might have messed up the place and you are supposed to sit for an video interview. Make sure this messy surrounding is not visible to the interviewers for a positive feedback on you. Make sure the vicinity is not messed up, and it is neat to record.
