URBAN HYBRID CENTER
GAZIPUR, DELHI 2022
THESIS DESIGN PROJECT
The project aims to develop a design solution for the dump yard or landfill sites as these sites are generally neglected or shifted to some other areas as the city expands. So, the project seeks to work on these spaces to aware people of the waste.
So, the Vision of the urban Hybrid center is to emerge as a center of Recreational and urban open spaces along with creating awareness and providing education with concern for social and human values.
Thesis Project 13
landfill site, also known as a tip, rubbish dump, garbage dump, or dumping ground, is a site for the disposal of waste materials. Landfill is the oldest and most common form of waste disposal.
impact of landfills
Emissions from landfills pose a threat to the health
Bad smells emanate from landfill sites causes pollutions
Accidents sometimes occur in landfill sites Methane produced by waste from landfill sites can cause explosions and fires
Landfill are responsible for soil and groundwater
SITE : Gazipur landfill, delhi
The Gazipur landfill spread across an area of 70 acres. It was allocated for waste dumping since the year 1984. Over 140 lakh tones of waste collected since 1984 lie in the Ghazipur landfill leading to hazardous living conditions with toxic air, contaminated water for people living in nearby areas.
The Gazipur landfill had already crossed its capacity of holding waste, but still, around 700 trucks dump 3000 metric tones of garbage everyday.
DESIGN IDEOLOGY
To break the rigidity and create seamless and dynamic spaces that will merge and sink into nature
To explore the idea of Biophilic design that have innate connection b/w man and nature
To rejuvenate the space and establish it as a visitor’s destination
To create more of unbuilt space and less of built space
INTERACTION PRODUCTIVITY COMMUNITY BONDING
CONNECTION WITH THE GROUND
Design quality of space that attracts user : less of walls, more of openings

2- Shifting some amount of garbage Water Aggregates
So, the Design approach for the rejuvenation is divided into phases over 20 years. This phased approach will allow, the Dumpsite to establish itself as a visitor’s destination, it will allow time for the Organizational capacity and program of events to grow and it will allow for the project to respond more resiliently and flexibly to future investment opportunities and changing priority. Also treating Yamuna river and using it as a point of attraction. So, with this time based approach in mind, the different spaces are sequenced and positioned to form clear relationships with each other and the site’s natural features.

Bio- dome Super tree
To create consciousness among people and to educate them about the diverse forms of life that cohabitate, the biodomes consist of various ecosystems.
Super trees are placed to provide shade during the day. They are covered with plants from top to bottom which helps to cool down the surrounding air proving a cool atmosphere around it. One of the super trees having a height of 50 meter, holds the power plant chimney inside it to maintain an aesthetic view of the site. The total diameter of the super tree is 25 meter.

Keeping the Delhi atmosphere in mind more unbuilt and less built spaces are designed. The main ambition was not only to design a powerplant but a sustainable eco-system at an urban scale that works for the people, and it will be a multipurpose project. The project will provide energy and waste treatment and will be an architectural landmark and a leisure facility. This project can be an example of Hedonistic sustainability.

Residential project of an Apartment building
As it’s an apartment bedroom the main goal is to make the room look spacious. So, neutral colors were used for the interior of the bedroom like beige, gray, cream, brown, and white. A neutral color palette not only helps to create a cohesive look that’s easy to maintain but also evokes a feeling of peace and calmness.
