Founded as a mission on the western frontier in 1842, Nashotah House exists to form persons for ministry in the breadth of the Catholic tradition, for the Episcopal Church, the wider Anglican Communion, churches in the Anglican tradition, and our ecumenical partners. The frontier has changed, but the mission remains the same: to train men and women for lay and ordained ministries, empowering the Church to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ.
At Nashotah House, theological education is about more than just gaining information. It’s about formation for ministry in a community that grows in the imitation of Christ by loving and serving each other. Students work, study, pray, and live alongside faculty, staff, and one another on our serene lakeside campus, building and sustaining friendships across the lines that divide the Church today.
Community life flows out of the twice-daily chapel schedule, where Christ is daily made present in the shared Sacrament. Anchored by this pattern of worship, all are invited to learn and grow in the faith once delivered to the saints and add their voices to that great chorus carrying the gospel into the world.
With the solid foundation that comes from a grounding in the teachings and traditions of the Church, our graduates leave Nashotah House prepared to serve faithfully wherever God leads them. Formed in a rhythm of daily prayer and a life alongside others answering God’s call, our students receive an unparalleled education led by our faculty of scholar-practitioners.
Nashotah House prides itself on forming ministers to serve Christ’s Church wherever God calls them. Whether you choose our residential , hybriddistance , or advanced degree program, you will study with a world-class faculty in a learning community centered around real presence and real preparation.
