Island Hopping in the Cyclades for windsurfers Island hopping in the Cyclades can be even more interesting for the lovers of water sports and especially wind- and kitesurf. Cycladic islands are located in the middle of the Aegean Sea, and thus they are the windiest islands in Greece. In July and August, blows the famous meltemi, the strong northern wind that blows the whole day and stops at night. Many beaches at the renowned Cycladic islands are organised with water sports facilities. These are the best spots on the most popular islands in Cyclades for the windsurfers. Don't visit only one! Book your accommodation in Cyclades, choose a Greek Island Hopping ferry pass for budget routes between the islands (learn here more) and enjoy your favourite sports! Tinos At Kolibithra Beach, something fun and friendly creates an alternative scenery in this stunning beach. A VW campervan converted into a bar, driftwood furniture and umbrellas woven by local basket-makers have as a result a cozy atmosphere where you can drink cocktails, eat crepes and salads and enjoy the windiest beach. The ultimate beach bar in the Cyclades for windsurfers (its name: Surf Lessons!) is located on a beach that is ideal for water sports that need strong wind the whole day.

Naxos

Mikri Vigla is the most popular wind- and kitesurfing spot in Naxos. The wind is perfect for these sports, and the water sports centres and schools there are numerous. The place consists of two sandy beaches, separated by an impressive hill. The northern part is the ideal, internationally famous, spot for wind sports.

Paros Paros is the place to be if you love wind sports, such as wind- or kite surf. Strong winds guarantee you that you can have great time doing your favourite water sport on beaches, such as Pounda, Santa Maria, Kolympithres, Chrysi Akti and Tsoukalia. Very interesting is the fact that in Chrysi Akti is being organised every year the world championship of wind surf. The distance between Paros and Antiparos as well as Paros and Naxos are also ideal places to try your skills in wind-or kite surf.

Antiparos

Antiparos is well--known among surfers not only for the sea strait between its port and Pounda in Naxos. On the eastern side of the island, the winds are strong. The top windsurfing and kitesurfing clubs in Antiparos are located in the beaches of Glyfa and Psaralyki.

Mykonos Mykonos is maybe the windiest island in Greece, and this is why its name is "the island of the winds". All beaches in Mykonos are organised and have waters sports facilities, but the best bays to try your favourite sports are Ftelia, Kalafatis and Agia Anna with famous surfing schools all over Greece and constantly blowing wind.
