Volunteer Firefighters Honored

The Nassau Bay Volunteer Fire Department celebrated their accomplishments at their annual banquet held at the new Nassau Bay Fire and EMS Station on February 23rd.

As a special tribute, Fire Chief Tom George and President Matthew Roper presented each NBVFD member with a flag flown over the new Fire and EMS Station. In recognition of his personal efforts, Fire Chief Tom George was also presented with a drawing of the new station with signatures from all NBVFD members.

The following NBVFD members received special recognition for their 2018 accomplishments:

Fire Fighter of the Year Vic Studer

Rookie Fire Fighter of the Year Mike Riley

Medic of the Year Mike Bodak

Administrative Officer of the Year Matthew Roper

Line Officer of the Year Tom George

Ed Newton Scholarship Award Joe Studer

Chief’s Coin Award for Special Service Mary Dickerson

Special awards were given to members in honor of their length of service:

(5) Years – Leslie Bodak, Lindsay Bodak, Mike Bodak, Skyler Chapman, Don Hannsz, Luis Marquina, Brendan Moses; (10) Years – Robert “Gabby” Chapman; (15) Years – Glen Blome; and (35) Years – Jim McGee
