saadiyat is natural island that is part of abu dhabi,in the uae, covering 27 square miles and will be completed in 2020. it is divided into seven districts : the marina discritct, the cultural district, villas and apartaments, hotels, the reserve and lagoons. the chosen place is in the middle of the island, the real central ring and the only part still not designed, between the marina and the district of culture . the guggheneim designed by frank ghery, the louvre designed by jean nouvel, the art centre designed by zaha hadid and the maritime museum designed by tadao ando will be built in the cultural district. the masterplan of the islandhas been conceived as a set of drawings to reduce the impact of the island habitat. the principles of waste hierarchy has been used for the management of waste(re duce, reuse, recycle, recover). saadiyat island means : island of happiness. It is far 500 meters from the coast of abu dhabi and it will become the cultural center of the country, according to the governement of abu dhabi.

Water is a resource that has being studied for a long time as a potential of sustainable energy, as element of well-being. Indeed, there are a lot of scientists and artists that have done of this element their reason of life and work. The result of the final project is the idea of a stone that is broken and has been smoothed thanks to the power of water. Ideally, the water created a passage through the rock, smoothing it with its persistence of its constant flow. I simulated the power of water with a jet that sweeps away all it finds in its passage. The shape of the three volumes came out here. One volume creates the others; each one is different from the other one.

The three volumes are subdivided in the following way: one for installations, one dedicated to photography and the last one to technological research. The final result is a sort of Canyon: three rocks that skim themselves. Among them a dialectic confrontation exists : a radical, immediate and continuous confrontation that highlights different forms and heights. Every single element has a peculiar strong identity, and the passage through the different elements creates gradual shades and perspectives. The visit of the museum was studied in order to give from any point you arrive the idea of continuous flow. The sense of the visit is up to the visitor: thematic or multidisciplinary. There is continuity between the spaces of the museum and the open spaces through external connections that link the three volumes that gives the impression of a change in visual relations between the interior and the external.

_Internal View The covering of the volumes is in stone. The main structure is a steel mesh and the main plot is in steel beam HEB 500 that follows with a distance of 3-5m, according to the shape of the volume. The external shell is a double skin of stone that covers the structure. The paneling of stone is a geometrical disposition of stone that reminds the hexagonal Arabian 10

_Structural Concept The thickness of the stone is reduced to the minimum in order to shrink the heaviness of the panels that measure 1,2 mm. This simple form allows us create hexagonal compositions. Some stones have been removed to create crack/ fissures. The triangulate tesseras/dominos create a play of full and empty spaces between external and interior that becomes spectacular with the nocturnal illumination. The construction: when the assembling of the steel structure and panels of stone is finished, the empty spaces are filled up with polystyrene forms. Afterwards, the structure is sprinkled with rough cement to confer continuity to the stone and hide the flights/escapes. After that, the polystyrene will be replaced by glass.

shapes. In order to maintain the geometrical order, I chose to use a triangular shape for the three volumes. 11

C o n c e p t An Organism living in a state of symbiosis. The Mycelium is the threadlike hypha which absorbs the nourishing elements. The Symbiont skyscraper undertakes an equitable exchange with the other buildings, with favourable conditions for the entire area. This creates a win-win situation : The Symbiont Skyscraper absorbs the waste of other buildings(e.g. wastewater, paper, organic wastewater, paper, organic waste etc)it transforms them in usable goods and then it gives wastewater, paper, organic waste etc.),it transforms them in usable goods and then it gives them back by way of food products, green areas and open-air spaces. Waste goes across the piping and is stored in warehouses where it is purified of microbial populations, this is the case of herbal purification of water which, once filtered, are redistributed. to reduce imports and environmental pollution,we decided to adopt a symbiotic solution. The project has been designed as a local market system for agricultural products. The local market has at least four benefits: environmental advantages, economic benefits for producers, economic benefits for consumers and qualitative aspects. It offers a market without sales people that uses biological techniques for the cultivation of products and the possibility to sell them locally. But it also represents a social space that is used by the people for their pleasure. The Symbiont Skyscraper will house it,always keeping its morphology and genealogy.

PFF pavilion: The idea came up from a study on the main functions associated with research for a dynamic organism. The structure developed across a regular shape, a rectangle that from a transversal deformation ideally gives back a parallelogram. This form is self-organized and is altered in a two-dimensional or three-dimensional way, following a symmetrical order. The project generated is both complex and fluid, it’s a continuous element that refers formally to bone structure. This structure is pivotal point of the whole project, partially characterized by “skins” stretched out between the different forms, determining the spaces and hierarchy of its functions

_THE

HOUSE

OF

WAR_ path where man can see how the war changes.the thought of Heraclitus and turned his words into architecture. three simple elements of departure: three parallelepipeds that during the race change, evolve and deform. the thought of Heraclitus: “War is the father and king of all: some he has made gods, and some men; some slaves and some free, “ “ harmony between these forces, war, fight, Lord of all things, because everything in the world is the result of opposite forces”, “opposition brings concord. Out of discord comes the fairest harmony”. Thus, there is a succession in the reality of the opposites, for which an opposite may not prevail on the other eternally but must leave the step to the other “,” to the succession of the opposites, each opposite must give the path to another one according to a certain order, each opposite even turns into the other “,” Each of these opposed elements tend to move to, to join and to draw the other one”. “On the one hand, the creation of the world is a lack, on the other hand, it is opposition, in the succession of the of the unity, for this dynamic succession things become just one thing.

28

There is a unity even more profound in the succession of the posites there is the fullness of a constructive attraction. “Opposition tends to solve its consistency in the constitution of the unity, for this dynamic succession things become just one thing. There is a unity even more profound in the succession of the opposites: the world is composed of opposites that melt into a unity. It is for this reason that these three elements can look like: two men fighting (two points and one is the result), or two nations in war (the first element symbolizing the stronger nation and the other one the weaker, the third element is destruction). I believe that the thought of Heraclitus is right and I would have liked to make a path of experience, observation, of people achieving awareness, a variable path where each element also changes into three simple elements, which are in relation between them according to a deflection, a shift, a distance or a closeness. These elements are elliptical paths that cross each other as well as changing.

Starting point is Ordered Khaos. Kahos is a greek word meaning “ mouth wide open”,it refers to a huge chasm before the creation of the world. there is a route that could give the idea of a chasm where eight spaces represent contradictory elements : Youthful senility_irrationa rationality_unpredictable routine_orderly chaos_imaginative reality_sweet cruelty_ turbolent serenity_complex simplicity Architecture is by definition firm but opposed it to a sense of instability, thus the house of oxymorons as a strong duality in which others to develop.
