Location Type Assignment
Los Héroes. Bogotá, Colombia. Urban The project main objective was to settle an ’anomalous’ project which’s major implications are which the future first metro line of Bogotá brings upon it.
This is an urban project that targets the public transportation actual problems, in addition to the upcoming (problems) once the metro appears. The current location is evidence of how privileged the private transportation has become. The vehicle roads are replaced by a pedestrian plaza for urban agriculture and natural recycling water system.

The site is the connecting point between the north, south and west of Bogotå. The metro’s line is planned to connect the south of the city with the working area. The last metro station is 700m to the south of the site. In this project it is proposed to move the aforementioned station to the site in order to feed of pedestrians the currently underused place. Also, in order to maintain the vehicle flow, an underground connection is created. In addition to the metro station, buildings are besought to promote diversity of use (commercial, hotel, sport and art infrastructure, vehicular and bicycle parking, among others).

Vegetation is a strategy to promote the sustainability within the project. On the one hand, the urban agriculture allows economical and social development. On the other hand, reclaimed water benefits ecosystems, reduces clean water consumption, and offers alternative water sources for several activities.

Location Type Assignment
Medicine Park. Oklahoma, USA Hotel The project assignment called for the scope of the program and graphic functional schemes of the design for an ecological hotel on the mountain’s slope.
This eco-resort in medicine park is based on a path and view concept converted into a building that visitors want to experience. The use of cobblestone and wood, which are characteristic elements from the site, and the fascinating views highlight the natural landscape. Through the architecture, each ecoresort’s space frames a different view of the landscape. LAKE LAWTONKA

Location Type Assignment
Jorge Eliecer Gaitรกn neighborhood. Bogotรก, Colombia Housing The project assignment asked for a proposal in three different scales. First, an urban re-densification is to be performed of three specific blocks at a neighborhood of the city where industry and housing are the main uses. Secondly, the task was the further development of one of the blocks, which had to be turned into a building that, in the third phase, would have to be highly developed in terms of sustainability analysis and detailed drawings.

The urban approach considers essential requirements such as re-densification, commerce on the first floor (programmatic mixture), emplacement of land and trees, and a quality habitat in terms of environmental concerns. The proposed field occupation allows 3.4 times more families and 5.3 more inhabitants than the original. This, by occupying 30% less area on the ground.

In regard to the one extra developed block, vegetation is a priority in the sense of establishing biological connections to the surrounding territory. The rectangular proposed building sets a central space where to plant city’s native tree species. This way, the largest solar light incidence from the first to the top building levels is guaranteed.

In the first floor, the gardens are conductive active spaces for the various age groups of residents. Rainwater management serves (after being cleaned) the building toilets and to water the vegetation on communal areas. The permeable soil in the middle of the block prevents flooding by excessive rain and nourishes the plant life of the place.
