Natalie Williams Interior Architecture
Portfolio A collection of student designs and creative works by Natalie Page Williams
About
Natalie Williams Interior Architecture Student
While pursuing my studies in Chicago, I grew a deep interest in urban experiential and experimental design. Through my own observations, I found that the use of color, light, and large-scale structures always directed where I walked, where I looked, and how certain spaces shaped my experience. This personal documentation led me to understand a reality where architecture, interiors, and urban landscapes can all be active promoters in positive human interaction and coexistence with nature. The following collection of student works explore a series of colorful concepts and ideas which derive from reflections on the complex relationship between contemporary architectural interiors and human nature.

The Excavation
The Excavation is an immersive exploration of the deeply rooted magic that lies within the heart of the Horseshoe Crab. With the rough, primitive exterior acting as a shield from the outside world, it mimics that of the crab and its unattractive appearance. The slowly descending shellshaped steps guide you downwards to the core of the magic where the blue blood of the Horseshoe Crab glows and circulates around the interior.

03.
Bike a Bee is an urban beekeeping project with about 40 hives on the south side of Chicago, with a few more scattered around the north and west sides. Jana Kinspan founded Bike a Bee in 2012 with the belief that having bees where people can see them enriches the community’s understanding of bees and the natural systems around them. In addition to that, all of Bike a Bees' seasonal maintenance, weekly inspections, equipment delivery, and honey harvest are all done by bicycle.

Bike-A-Bee's Mission : Creating Solutions
Bicycling
Education
Bike A Bee believes that having a car is not necessary to be a productive beekeeping project. By going by bicycle, they are able to cut fossil fuel emissions and help better environment for which the bees need to thrive.
One of the solutions to this problem posed by Bike A Bee is simply education. They offer apprenticeships and classes to educate the Chicago community on the importance of honey bees and how to care for them.
