CONCEPT STATEMENT Kunik is an ancient welcoming ritual of the indigenous people of Alaska and Siberia – Eskimos. It was generally held between family members and beloved ones. People were touching and rubbing each others noses and cheeks to feel their odor. Rediscovering their smell this way people felt they were home again. This custom became a base of my concept. Kunik Tower is located in between the Big and Little Diomede. It represents the “touch” of the islands, countries and people. The only way visitors can get there is by cable cars that rise from the aerial stations on the islands, to the tower. There are 5 levels of hotel, arrival station for the cable cars, restaurant and observation level, located on the top of the tower. To get to the aerial station there are funiculars available from the villages. Kunik Tower will allow visitors to experience the beauty of the land. It will make them touch the nature and nd a balance between themselves, surrounding and a world.
