THE SOUTH PARK COLLECTIVE The South Park Collective seeks to influence the growth of the existing creative industry in Los Angeles, reveal the making and manufacturing process through all forms of the built environment, and create continuity through the districts of downtown LA. The valued process of manufacturing is revealed through a high level or efficiency and quality. Between built forms of landscape and architectural structure, the South Park Collective is a unique system that supports smallness and individuality. TRADITIONAL RETAIL

The importance of incremental development in the South Park Collective is important is the growth of a city. By using existing parking structures as so-called hubs for public use, the public realm, and as community resources, the height of the city will ensue itself over time. Assuming this incremental growth comes with the idea of underpinning, or preserving the existing buildings of South Park to ensure the rights of all current residents as well as the growth of other creative businesses. The idea of topical growth ensures density in areas of most interaction, with the fixed system framework as a backbone to the nature of the city of Los Angeles. The idea is to development the urban environment successfully over time - through small bounds of growth.

PROPOSED CONDITION
9
BROADWAY APPROACH The Broadway Alley condition remains the same as to allow for linear making conditions, conduction of materials, and the use of transportation for supplies. This portion of Broadway seeks to maintain a condition that will allow the growth of downtown Los Angeles and the Broadway commercial sector.
REVEALING OF THE ‘MAKE’ PROCESS The revelation of the make process is most shown through the landscape, architectural qualities, and function of the ‘alley’ condition in this excerpt. The transformation of the alley allows a fluctuating series of events to occur on a timely basis - year round. The ideas of growth over time are best shown through the constructive process of the landscape. Making occurs in all realms of the built environment where visibility and the public realm are treated equally.

THE CONCRETE HABITAT MASONRY UNIT The Concrete Masonry Unit was redeveloped as a means to create opportunity within the existing local infrastructure. Vast amounts of CMU walls line southern California freeways, and this presents a Concrete Habitat Unit with the equity being placed on ecological opportunism.
HIBERNATE
3D models were digitally drafted as a visual representation of the new CHmU given the structural habitat requirements of the Big Brown Bat. Half-inch gaps and niches were the focus for this unit, and a series of opportunities have been established through host research and my personal values of equity within ecology and the landscape. While still functioning as a typical masonry unit, this series of Big Brown Bat units will foresee opportunities to fly, roost, and hibernate given seasonal change and phonologic characteristics. Opportunity can present itself Anywhere. 13

Structural properties specific to the Big Brown Bat were transformed into a manifested component within freeway infrastructure. Through this system, we are allowing interspecies equity among those that occupy the highway. Opportunities are located throughout and within the CHMU to allow bats to roost, fly, and hibernate.

LIFESTYLE
Drawing from inspiration from the displacement of the Chavez Ravine community, our design strives to increase social equity. A mix of market rate and affordable housing allows for opportunities to live, work, learn, and grow in an adaptable community.
Since the Dodgers relocated from Brooklyn, a unique baseball culture has developed throughout Los Angeles. The foundation of Dodger culture stemmed from a redevelopment of the Chavez Ravine, the land that the stadium was constructed on. Although the stadium was established with much controversy, the topographic conditions provide for perceptual qualities which include 360 degree views of Los Angeles with angles wide enough to view downtown LA, the ocean and mountains. These qualities associated with the site are of exceptional value to Dodger culture, as it is the only stadium of its kind, resulting in high land values. A majority of the site is contained by parking lots.
Our concept is based on the California dream and the journey through Los Angeles to the Dodger Stadium site. The dream is a progression of five programs which succeed one another: climate, fortune, ability, opportunity, and lifestyle. The progression of a Dream sets the base foundation for the urban typology. The five programs that overlap throughout the site emphasize the development of interaction, which results in the adaptive resilience of the community.
The hopes and dreams of this project are derived from the experience associated with the California dream. The idea that there was a sense of aspiration and a value of equity in the people that first moved to the southern California region can be proven, as hopes and dreams continue today with people moving to Los Angeles in hopes of fame and fortune. The project is a 21st century representation of hopes and dreams. Hopes are connected through the built environment and its tangibility to the public realm. Dreams are connected with the subliminal qualities associated with the location of Dodger Stadium. The framework encourages a juxtaposition of systems that seeks to create a new model for transportation, ecology, human scale and physical boundaries. A new urban typology will evolve over time, creating a selfsustaining, aspirational community that facilitates the journey and experience, equity and integration of
Through the integration of all five systems, a variety of site programming opportunities will allow for an innovative urban typology to emerge. Our plan seeks to emphasize a variety of programs and land use while providing access and equity to everyone. The mixture and density of typologies will allow people to live, work, and exponentially grow through their Hopes and Dreams. A transportation network will be implemented through the site which will enable equal access for all. A specific gondola system will extend the stadium and its community into the city of Los Angeles. It is our hope that the next generation of dreamers to move to Los Angeles will have the opportunity to be exposed to this unique hopes and dreams framework.

The strategy used for the model of transportation was based from existing routes and conditions. A focus was placed on the existing condition and how it is dealt with in the urban setting. A series of transportation studies were performed to locate the locations with highest potential to serve as future gondola lift stations. These stations will serve as local commercial/retail and residential developments as a means to improve connectivity in the city. The Hopes and Dreams of transportation are achieved through this simple, efficient system.
